  1. Anything is better than the original plastic valve covers amc used on the 258. That said I would say what your seeing is normal 4.0 behavior. My mj has been cruiser modded and all new ccv components, still insists on pissing oil out of the grommets and the oil fill cap. Other than that I have fixed all my leaks and use a less than noticable on the dipstick amount of oil between changes. As was said above, old engine design with old efficiency standards combined with being higher mileage engine means it won't be perfect by any means. just check the oil with with each fuel fill and add accordingly. But most importantly enjoy the truck.
  2. Arent the xj spring mounts narrow in comparison to the mj location?
  3. Does anyone have one to get some measurements from? Both of mine are mia
  4. I 4x4 swapped mine. I purchased an ax15\231 from a wrangler that was getting a small block swap. The rest of the parts were sourced from the junkyard. Not a difficult swap but not super easy either.
  5. I went this route in my cj. As much as I enjoyed the simplicity of carbs, the tbi is nice. much better cold starts and a really easy setup to work with.
  6. 20 years later? That's kinda kewl to see......
  7. If you don't have a stethoscope a piece of vacuum hose stuck in one ear works well also.
  8. Glad to be able to participate in such a great community. Thanks Pete.
  9. Yes those are factory row mirrors. They are not a common option.
  10. My solution to a grease covered engine bay is a couple cans of degreaser from the local parts house and a pressure washer. Works well for me. If there isn't a bunch of oil (yeah right it's a jeep). Then a regular soap and water wash will do. Use caution when rinsing. Some things under the hood don't like to get too wet.
  11. I suspect many of those are jeep owners driving "daily drivers". I myself am stuck in an f150 all week (company truck). I still wave and recognize jeepers, not ducks.
  12. I would like to know also.
  13. I chose Bilstein for mine. Not stock height although until recently it was my daily
  14. Typo on my part, I meant to ask about the OE cluster.
  15. What don't you like about the one cluster? Not accurate enough or just not visually pleasing?
  16. I really shouldn't have to answer that question...... Pump action or lever gun?
  17. Looks like that might be wj rear brakes. To my knowledge mj's never came factory with rear discs.
  18. Probably be good preventative maintenance to treat that OSB to some Thompson's water seal.....
  19. All terrains, gotta stay outta the fields if it's wet enough for mud terrains (that's a Midwest problem) Wad or fold toilet paper?
  20. https://maps.app.goo.gl/Cqwpx4rhZrmLtv7a7 They are about an hour drive from me. Last time I was there he still had a metric crapton of amc cars. Bunch of eagles, gremlins, and javelins. I don't know if he still has them, or if he will ship parts, but I bet it's worth a phone call.
  21. Captain Morgan all the way. Potato or potatoe
