  1. I believe the shims will only fit one way due to their shape. The shims go between the starter and the block to help maintain the correct distance between the starter gear and flywheel.
  2. Vector end of discussion.
  3. The wiper arms will interchange without modification. The newer motor is supposed to be faster if believe.
  4. If your clutch master is leaking take a close look at the fuse block area on the inside. The clutch master is known to leak in the fuse block and cause issues. Edit: spelling
  5. There is never a clydesdale in the kentucky derby ......
  6. Thats what best in its class performance is like, even if it is close to 40yrs old. Its part of the reason I was drawn to mj's. They are stout for their size and very capable, trust me I have pushed the boundaries of my trucks payload and trailering abilities and was impressed to say the least.
  7. Hit it the same but from the bottom up. I'd choose oil tip her pliers as suggested. Slow work goes wrong at a much slower pace. Better to break the cap with pliers than smash it and half the truck with a hammer.
  8. I seem to remember someone already added headrest to a nonheadrest bench. But can't remember who. I believe it was one of the epic builds.....
  9. Wrong seats No headliner No center console Wrong carpet Interior looks like it wasnt even cleaned along with the respray job i think they ars a little high on the price. However it does look good on the exterior.
  10. ITS ALIVE!!!!! Well sorta. Got it to idle off a gas jug. Didnt want to run it long just wanted to confirm its healthy. Now its time to get the oils changed and service a transmission. Also getting a muffler and tailpipe since those are mia.
  11. Nothing is stuck if its liquid.
  12. I didnt mean for that to come through mean. Sometimes I forget its the internet and my sarcasm doesnt convey well.
  13. When I started my fence u got help from a friend who used to install for a living. He told me there in ne indiana that 36" is plenty deep. He was more concerned that I used enough concrete. He said 120lbs per post. I know when I frame decks and buildings we are code required to be 36v deep to get below frost. I'm sure its deeper up there in the artic tundra where you are.
  14. Concrete to set the posts. don't buy panels. Build your own it will make a better fence and look nicer in the end. Not a difficult project compared to maintaining jeeps.
  15. I'm in Indiana. Definitely no kangaroos here except the zoo. The forum has always been a little screwy with pics. Admins will fix it if they see it usually.
  16. What about relocating the pump? Both my cjs have electric pumps and both are on the frame rail just ahead of the tank. I believe the 85 is on the passenger rail and the 77 is on the drivers rail. can't speak for the 77 as it hasnt run since I brought it home, however the 85 has never had heat issues.
  17. Saw one yesterday at the menards one illinois Rd in fort wayne. I was working so no time to wait or try to locate the owner. Saw a second one today on coliseum blvd. near glenbrook. No pics as I was driving. It was dark colored with a white ring around the beveled section of the tailgate.
  18. I believe lifting the wiper off the glass is what disengages the "latch". It kind of a fiddle operation to hold the wiper up off the glass and grab the small "nub" end and pull it off the splines.
  19. Come to think of it mine is a YJ cover. However I also have a YJ "family rollbar". I could see where that would cause fit issues on yours.
  20. After I got her all tucked in it snapped a few pics to just document things a little.
  21. This will be a thread to document and track work and condition. So let me introduce you all officially to Brown Betty. 1977 CJ-7 base model. 304 V8 TH400 Borg quadratrac These photos were provided by the previous owners children. These show Betty just as I found her. Sitting the same way since ~2017. After exposing her to the sun for the first time in nearly a decade she areived at her new home. ***this space reserved for picture to be added later. (Wife took them, and hasnt sent them too me yet)*** And after a quick bath shes tucked in the shop to get some needed attention.
  22. I have a "rain gear" cover for my 7. Love it. Nice durable material.
  23. She made it home safe and sound. All tucked in where she will sit for a bit. I really need to go through everything. It has been sitting since 2017. Guess ill start a "build/maintenance" thread...... Pic for fun.
  24. I know that. Just glad to see her coming around. She never once argued with me buying the new cj and now she wants an eagle. I'm not sure I can afford both of us having the addiction.....
  25. I was a CJ owner long before a MJ owner. And have been in many a forum. It doesnt matter if we called it "underwater basket weaving club". I would still be here daily. Its just too good of a community of good peoples not to belong. I guess what I'm getting at is the name doesnt mean squat. Cj,mj,zj,xj,sj....whatever, don't matter as long as its cool. Lol Edit: just told the wife about this thread and she looks it me and says "why don't we have any eagle?" Guess I need to make even more room in the shop. Lol
