  1. I bet it's from one of those sites that makes you think they have things in stock but really just scoop Chrysler's part archives. MoparPartsGiant and factorychryslerparts are two I remember, but there's a bunch of them.
  2. I'll see what I can come up with.
  3. That looks like the HO power curve to me. The HO peaks somewhere around 3600 rpm (and in my 91, you can definitely feel a significant increase in torque as you approach 3000 rpm). With MY Renix at least, there is absolutely nothing of value past 3000 rpm except more noise.
  4. Yeah, "only" 2 or 3 Renix years sounds positively heavenly compared to the crap we get in middle TN. The one in nashville currently has 2 XJs, and both are 97+.
  5. I'm not in your same situation, but I intend to regear to at least 3.73, more likely 4.10 for use with 29" tires. To match my original ratio I'd need 3.87s which don't exist. When I do this, it'll be interesting to see if mileage changes, and if so in what direction. The HO 4.0 likes to rev a little bit, and I'm turning about 2200 rpm at highway speed currently.
  6. Might have to check out this Knoxville pull-a-part some day when I'm in the area. The one in Nashville hasn't had a decent or old jeep in months. All WJs and other random Chrysler crap now.
  7. I wonder how much weight it would take to lift the front wheels off the ground.
  8. How DARE YOU own up to making an honest, innocent mistake regarding two pieces of equipment that upon casual inspection look fairly similar? Don't you know that the right thing to do on the internet is to argue with anyone who asks for proof, engage in whataboutism, and move the goal posts when consensus disagrees with your assertions? Really though... common mistake. I have heard rumors of D44 fronts on some XJs that were built in Venezuela.
  9. If you can't turn your high beams off fast enough to avoid blinding me, just save us all the trouble and don't use 'em at all.
  10. Seen that site a few times. I'm pretty sure it just scrapes eBay listings and collects whatever info you put into it. I think I remember seeing some of my own eBay listings on there too. Look at the categories. They're exactly the same as eBay's.
  11. What year is the truck? You really should create a signature with this info, as it's going to be asked every single time. This time, it really matters. Isn't the Renix "relay box" just four or five relay connectors in a line? If so, you probably can find a close enough box available new, and it might even have some weatherproofing so this doesn't happen again. The HO relay box is much, much more involved and will need to be sourced from a donor.
  12. And that's the HO, which has like 30 horsepower more than the standard 4.7L.
  13. I'd be very interested in some before/after dyno results for these bored TBs.
  14. This model has a big problem with the faceplate ribbon cables coming loose. If we're very lucky that's it.
  15. I'm not entirely sure what I'd do with them since I focus on the earlier single DIN units. I'll let you know. If there's someone else you know that could use them, don't save them for me.
  16. Kinda. There's supposed to be stuff on the screen, but it does more than I expected it to.
  17. The bulbs in the display are burned out. Very common issue on these radios. Normally, I'd tell you to send it to me and I'll change the bulbs for you, but you're very far away. I'm honestly not sure what to tell you. I'd happily change the bulbs for you if you are willing to send it to the US and pay for return shipping, but shipping alone is probably a hundred dollars or more.
  18. Yep, dropped off a precious package. Spent about 3 hours in my driveway in the middle of the night BSing about stuff too.
  19. The front end is not my thing. The window hardware is much more interesting to me.
  20. It always seems like my best junkyard scores were like that. Either free at the counter or pre-pulled for my convenience.
  21. Oh hey, that guy looks familiar!
  22. That would be my first thought as well, after verifying that the system really is charged using manifold gauges.

    Born on dates

This doesn't really fit anywhere, so I'll just put this out there as proof that I really can stretch even the most mundane topic ad nauseam. JMO's reading of my VIN came up with a build date of April 16, 1991. I've always had it as April 17, 1991 at 12:55, which I've always assumed to be in a 24-hour format, making the time 12:55 PM. However, if that time is actually 00:55 (12:55 AM) that would mean that my truck was just finished in the very earliest minutes of April 17 and most of the work was presumably done on the 16th. In fact, here's the sheet. The top right corner says 4-17 12:55 as the "sheet printed" date. I assume this to be the time that the final build sheet is printed, the truck is finished and ready to head to the destination. So, that leaves the question: what does the "build date" correspond to in Chrysler's system? Clearly, there is a date as printed on the sheet, and then the one we can see in Chrysler's system, and they don't completely agree 100% with the build sheets. So here are the possibilities that I came up with as I was standing in the shower thinking way too hard about this: - My truck was finished at 12:55 AM, making it probable that all of the real work was finished by midnight on the 16th. - The truck sat around for a while after being finished before the build sheet was printed. - The build date in Chrysler's system corresponds to some event that happened in the process of building, such as when the trim tag is attached to the firewall. In my case, this would've happened some time on the 16th, and the truck was finished the next day. - I'm a crazy loon that needs to have the computer taken away. or some combination of the above, or something else I haven't thought about. I'd love to hear any thoughts that anyone has on the matter.
  24. Through '94. Also, all bucket seat parts through '94 can be swapped like legos.
  25. NO. Since you asked...
