Seats! Who Has What In Their Mj
shelbyluvv replied to farmerjohnson's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I had 98 ZJ in Onyx and now have a set in my 07 Dodge Cummins. You will not a more comfortable pair of seats out of a junker. I love them. Look at my Project Onyx build for pics and a write up to make the tilt forward. -

Xj Parking Brake In A Mj?
shelbyluvv replied to 87MJTIM's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
There are some pretty decent pics and details in my Project Onyx build thread about installing a hand brake in a MJ. -
With that much damage I would just find a new axle to put in it.

I keep hearing the stories of busted pipes and frozen water lines. I live in a camper and I have had zero issues. I did not wrap any pipes either. I simply opened my dump valves, drained my tanks and left the hot water drip from the kitchen sink and a cold from the bathroom.

I used a set off a early Ranger on Betty. I do not have the internal braces in the doors. Use fender washers behind the nuts to keep them from pulling through the door. Try to find either a factory set of a set off a Ranger. The fullsize Ford's have bigger mounting arms and look weird on a MJ's short door.

13* in deep south Georgia (Albany) this morning. I live in a travel trailer so that makes for some interesting issues with freezing weather!

1988 Jeep Comanche Aka The Penny Sniffer ,pic Heavy
shelbyluvv replied to Zebvance's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
I put a push button switch in the cigarette lighter hole. Then modified the lighter to work so it would just need pushed to set it and a push to reset it. I had a buddy who said he could steal any car in five minutes try to find the kill switch. He never did and I never told him where mine was. I still think that was one of my best modifications on any vehicle. -
I'm in south Georgia, Leesburg/Albany area

Mine was one of the very first off the line. TBI 2.5 was her powerplant.

I hear all the horror stories ofbtje 4.7 being a turd. Mine has been great. I have abused that poor little motor and it keeps asking for more. I do change the oil every 3000 miles and flush the cooling system every couple years. The 5/45RFE trans is a hoss. I abuse it as well. I've towed way to much with that Jeep and the trans is still a pretty cherry red. I did have a solenoid pack go bad at 100k. All in all it has been a great vehicle and is still daily driven. Has been since Oct 2004.

The Special Edition looks just like a Limited without all the bells and whistles. It is a dressed up Laredo for lack of a better word. It even VINs out as a Laredo. The seats are leather but are not the nice Limited seats. The SE does not have the white gauges or the chrome headlights the Limiteds have. I am very happy with my SE. They can be hard to find as they are a bit rarer than the Laredo or the Limited. If I had it to do all over again I still would have bought the SE.

I have owned my 2004 WJ since it had 23 miles on it. It now has 107,000. It has been an awesome Jeep. I used it as a crawler, tow rig, DD, and anything in between. I have beat the piss out of that poor thing and she has never left me down. I replaced a water pump under warranty at 40,000 miles. Other than that it has never been missed a beat. A few things to stay away from. A 4.7 HO requires 92 octane to run right. dual climate control will break heated seats will break I have a Special Edition (only available in 02 and 04) it has a V8 with leater and sunroof. It looks like a Limited with the body colored cladding without the dual climate or heated seats. I think they are the best bang for the buck.

Feels Like It's Shaking Apart At 60+ Mph

Could be a transmission mount. We need more info about the truck to make a better diagnosis. lifted, engine, trans, all info about the truck -
Looks like she will be for sale again soon. I don't have the time to mess with it and with my current life situation I don't need a project vehicle. Keep an eye on the classifieds for her to pop up.
