How well do rear XJ fender flares fit the MJ?
shelbyluvv replied to jage's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
They are rear XJ flares somewhat mounted on there. They don't fit. I can see they don't fit right. Catch my drift? If it was that easy to put them one do you honestly think I would not have put them on my truck? I have a custom one of set off fiberglass rear 97+ flares. I can't put them on for fear of breaking them. -
I don't care for it either. A POW flag would be a better choice in my opinion.

Cooper ATP from Discount Tire Direct are $115 each shipped. I run them on my MJ and the Cummins and I love them.

Flares and tire clearence
shelbyluvv replied to chopper35nj's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have 265/75r16s on a 4.5" lift. I run rear flares on the front with minor trimming to clear the tires at full compression. -
I just got mine in the mail today as well.

How well do rear XJ fender flares fit the MJ?
shelbyluvv replied to jage's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Neither style fit. I have tried both on the rear of my MJs and I can tell you from first hand experience that they do not fit. Period. The 97 and newer flares don't go all the way to the bottom of the bed. They are cut off about 7" short in the rear for the plastic bumper caps. -

I moved your post to the classified section. Someone here will have one. Look in the vendor section for kklimer and contact Kody. He probably has ten of them.

Try a Moog joint on the FUBAR side. They tend to run big and are harder to press in.

my death wobble trouble shooting plan
shelbyluvv replied to KC0GFG's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Remove the steering stabilizer and fix the death wobble. The only thing it is doing is hiding the problem. -
The big bases are setup pretty good with pizza places, Subway, Green Bean coffee, PX, ice cream shop, theater and pretty much anything you could need. I didn't want anything other than JP, 4wd and SUV, and 4wheel and offroad magazines. Oh and stateside chew. The stuff over there has formaldehyde in it and it is nasty. The APO address doesn't really mean much other than it is an overseas post office. By you saying it is a big base leads me to Doha or Victory. Both are setup very well. Beef jerky, candy and microwave pasta is always a game winner.

Which bucket seats fit better 1986 or 1996
shelbyluvv replied to 90comancheman's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It would be cheaper to change the entire interior to gray. You're looking at $500-$800 to recover seats. A dash, carpet, door panels and interior plastics would cost about $300 from a junkyard. I personally like the cordovan interior. -
Is he in Doha? Depending on his location will drive what is needed for care packages. Does he dip snuff? A few cans of Copenhagen will make the dippers in the unit happy!

Which bucket seats fit better 1986 or 1996
shelbyluvv replied to 90comancheman's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have the 96 Grand seats in every one of my trucks. Both MJs and my Cummins. They are by far the most comfortable seats I have ever sat in. They are not a bolt in and will require some work but they are worth it. -
which valve cover gasket?
shelbyluvv replied to shelbyluvv's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yep, that's what I used. Fit perfect. -
I have a 93 engine with a 97 stamped valve cover. It has developed a pretty nasty leak. What gasket should I use with my combination?

OK..... Back to rear springs.
shelbyluvv replied to chopper35nj's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'm not sure what you're trying to accomplish here? If you want to clear 31s all you would need is a 2" lift up front and a Chevy drop shackle in the rear. What is the load rating of the FSJ leaf packs? Will the @$$ sag 3" with a spare tire in the bed? -
I used the XJ wiring all the way to the rear. I cut off the XJ connectors and replaced them with weatherproof connectors. I then took the stock MJ taillight harness and separated the wiring to get all four tail bulbs to light when the parking lights are on. The top bulbs are the brake lights and the lower are the turn signal bulbs. Once you look at the MJ taillight harness it is pretty easy to figure out which wire powers which bulb.

Chrome drip rails are hard to find. The trim around the door windows is actually stainless steel. You can remove the window trim and use aircraft stripper on it and it will take the plastic coating off. It takes a few sessions to get it all off but it will take it off. Check out Project Black Betty for some pics.

They are the same, SWB or LWB. -
They make metal handles but they are chrome.
