It is a fun project and very rewarding when you hear it fire the first time.

Thank you very much. It has been a labor of love with this truck. She is far from perfect, but she is perfect for me. Betty is tucked away, sleeping peacefully in a 10x20 storage locker. I am moving to California in June and will soon have a garage again.

Today was give Onyx some love day. My 6year old APN header was cracked in about 10 different places. My thermostat housing and water pump were leaking. Also my PCV was clogged with crap. Water pump, thermostat housing and new $86 Amazon manifold in place. Finished up and running better than I can remember. Why not take a glamour shot of her while I'm at it?

Glad to see them getting out there. I hope you guys are happy with the design. They look exactly like the drawing I sent to him. Hopefully now that others are getting these installed you can see why they don't follow the body line and hang down a bit. I'm not an engineer. I am just a Marine with a passion for Jeeps. They look good fellas!

Did this issue get resolved?

Nope

You are about an hour and 15 mins away from Jim. It is worth the visit Adam.

All you IFS/IRS haters do realize that KoH champ Shannon Campbell has IFS on his buggy right? He is kicking major @$$ this year with the rig all over the country. Solid axles are old news. While they will probably never go away, they will be looked at like leafs in the front in a few years. On the subject of the new Comanche, I like it. I am also the proud owner of a KL and I love it as well. I'm glad the used the boxy Renegade instead of the Cherokee. The KL has too many swooping lines to become a truck.

That's how my 86 is also. I had the engine out when I installed my DBs. -

WJ Booster/Master swap Issue.
shelbyluvv replied to Megadan's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I killed a brand new master on my WJ doing the pump and bleed method. I now do the one pump, hoooooooooollllllllllldddddd and bleed. It seems to work better and does not kill the seals. -
I wanted to go check on one of my fishing spots today. When I got there I see this little girl sunning herself on a small island.

Mufflers, what's everyone running?
shelbyluvv replied to JeepsOLot's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I run the same muffler and really like the sound. -
It's not a simple bolt in job. The coil, track bar and control arm mounts are in different places on a WJ. If you go long arm and custom track bar and drag link you can make it work. The lug pattern on a WJ is 5x5 not 5x5.5 If you are doing the front why not do the rear 44A as well? Put a good truss and solid cover on it and it will be plenty strong.

I hit the highway June 15th. I hope to be there at least 3-4 years this time.

As any parent would worry. If she is anything like her old man she is level headed and battle ready. Send her my best Chief.

I've never talked to him on the phone, text only. I'm sure I've had more interaction with him than anyone else. He doesn't have enough service to make a phone call at work. He can barely send texts. I deal with this same issue every day at work also. It's great having a voicemail with no missed calls. He is a honest guy. I've never meet him in person but I had no problem sending him over $600 for my stuff.

The offer stands. Once you have them modified, they are yours to keep. I talk to Brandon daily. We talked about these "issues" before they were released for purchase. They are not a design flaw. They are the way I designed them. I tried to be honest in my install post that they look off. I am aware they are a touch low as well. I tried to figure a way to tuck them tighter to the body. They also have to be adjustable to take up for production variations. Not all MJs are exactly the same. As you weld and cut steel things move. The pinch clamps worked best to take up these issues. I have used the drill and bolt pinch seam design on a couple different Jeeps. There are always a few holes that are too low and the bolts don't even hold crap. I hate you aren't happy with the design.

I used self tappers on my WJ, ZJ and XJs in the past. They always strip out. The nutserts were not to bad to install. Drilling the holes was the worst part.
-
Send them back to Brandon. I will pay your shipping fees. Go buy RR rails. Once Brandon receives them he will refund your money.

Do your thing. The design is the way I, me, the designer wanted it. Does it look off, yes it does. Is that the way "I" wanted it? Yes, absolutely it is. I want my width the same all the way down the rocker. Could they be pulled up to be flush with the rocker? Yes they could be. Does that matter to me nope, not at all. I plan on using my rails as sliders. I don't really care they stick out 3/4" more in the front when they follow the track width. These are prototypes. There will be changes. I'm glad Brandon is willing to entertain changing them. For me they are the way I wanted them. I am going to go and have a beer. Good luck getting them fixed to your liking.

It's 1" narrower. That is a 1/2" per side. Most run a 1" spacer per side to make it look the same as the front. That doesn't change the fact the front sheet metal narrows in at least 3" on a MJ. I'm sorry my design didn't work for you. I can promise you Nate's design is exactly the frigging same. It is MY PDF.
-
The rear axle width is the same as the front...
-
Here is your "honest" review! Yep, right in line with the stock axle width. While you choose complain about them not being bowed in 3/4" to follow the body line. I prefer them to follow the axle line. These rails fit EXACTLY the way I wanted them too. I designed Brandon's and Nate's rails. I gave them both the exact same PDF. The only difference is going to be one mounting leg and who welded them together.

The MJ and XJ have totally different rockers. The MJ is wider past the doors than the XJ. I have had both. The XJ does not flare as bad as a MJ does. This is why XJ rockers do not work on an MJ. If you look right down the axle line of your truck you will see they are dead on. Hell I even posted a picture showing this. Does it look off? Yes. Do I understand the reason why? Yes!
