Brake Pads...What do you Recommend?
dfreeman616 replied to beepbeepmyredjeep's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
i like power stop evolution series. they're ceramics, and about the only thing we recommend at my shop. we've yet to have any come back due to a pad defect or noise complaint, and as for life? we had one truck come back with a seized caliper, so it kept that side stuck on and ruined it. the other side looked new with almost no wear after some 11,000 miles, and this was on a 3/4 chevy that had a fair amount of trailer towing duty. an 87 comanche uses the 16-203. here's one source for them http://www.brakewarehouse.com/pwrstp1.asp and here's the website for them http://www.powerstop.com/ -
Battery keeps draining.

Nobody said they were ALL bad. When you consider the big chains sells a thousand or more of an item a couple bad ones is no big deal,,,unless you're the one that got one of the bad ones. although when you go through 3 bad throttle position sensors from az before finding one that's good, you gotta wonder... -
hmm i like the sound of that, although i don't care for any current jeep vehicle that much, so i'm not hopeful about this one either.

:agree: but substitute a :( for the :)

i have one on my truck, but wouldn't mind taking it off for a price. just might need to ship it, depending on where you are.

swap brake master/booster/prop valve with one from 2000 xj, replace line to left front wheel, body line to rear axle, rear brake hose. also swapped in new hood release cable due to broken old one. oh, and installed rusty's air tube/k&n i had sitting around. it's nice to have good brakes again :D

michigan truck in louisiana? or are you up here in michigan now?

i don't know how it is in norway, but around here most people are in too much of a hurry, and if they have 4x4 they think they're invincible. add ABS, and they really think they can do anything they want...

congrats on the readers rig  :hijack: that flippac on a comanche is sexy and i like his dual swing out rear bumper, too
-
another thing i appreciate about this site is it seems to be more "family friendly" than many of the other forums i've been on, which is good when my son asks to sit with me like he is now. :wall: :USAflag:   :smart: :waving: he just picked those smilies...

go for some cooper discover at/r tires, great life, decent price, good winter traction, and decent off road, too.

any chance you have some templates for anyone who wants to make up their own bumper?

i also suggest finding something used, i've seen good lifts for as low as $500 around here, but figure $1000 is pretty common for a decent used lift. we have 5 bendpak's at my shop, and another one at the other location my shop has. they're a decent lift for the money. you just need to make sure the releases are properly adjusted (cable operated) and lubed up. otherwise, they tend to not fully release and you get a vehicle coming down sideways... check around though, you might be able to find someone to install it for $3000, i believe that's all we payed to have each lift installed and shipped, ready to go.

Eagle Scout since 2000. Welcome :wavey: Awhile back, there was a topic about Eagle Scouts and there's quite a few of us on here, higher than you would expect given the national statistics.

so you had idiot lights, now you have gauges, correct? the sending units are different for oil pressure and coolant temp, so you'll need different ones. as for the rpm not working, you either have a connection loose on the back of the cluster, or the tach is bad, or a wire problem from the ecm to the gauge.

i love a good pipe organ when it's played well.

alignments suck on them, the lower a-arm sleeves freeze up in the caster/camber slots and don't adjust worth crap. front drive shafts have a high failure rate and are, last i checked, non-serviceable and dealership only. not impressed with the 3.7, although i do like the CRD. i've seen a few with heater issues, and that requires pretty much pulling the dash. properly moded, i'd love a CRD KJ...

what gets me is the radio...looks to be am only, yet the truck has a/c and a slider window.

i'd trade quicker than i typed this post.

Broken Exhaust bolt in Block
dfreeman616 replied to UNL1MTD's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
glad you got it, i had the same problem on my truck. however, i got it out by building up a weld with my MIG, then backing it out with a pair of vise grips. hope that helps someone else. -
if you have a voltage meter/multi meter/ test light, one terminal on the injector harness should have constant voltage key-on, and the other should pulse the ground signal as the engine is running. if that all checks out, next thing to do is check compression. if you don't have a gauge, you can rent them from somewhere like autozone, o'riley's or advance auto for a deposit fee.
