Project "sipsey": '88 Pioneer Long-Bed
Lee21490 replied to 8valvehero's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Yeah dude, which side? The '86 is far more rusty than the '88 and I don't have the location and resources to undertake an engine swap. This way I can chip away at the build while still driving the truck daily. Yeah I'm from FL and I was stunned by the cost and availability of nice cars out west. Passenger side. Ahh the pics don't show the rust & yea an engine swap can be a b*@$£. For some reason around washington comanche's are decently common & pretty cheap really. -

Glad to see you got that door fixed, I remember cringing hard when i saw the state it was in from the PO when you picked up those wheels. Any chance you'd be willing to part with the passenger side outside plastic vent thinger off your parts 'manche? If so lmk a price. Busted mine up last week Also the 86 looks like its in way better shape, Wouldnt it just be easier to build that one? -

Holy ********************************************************************** If that heater core ever springs a leak again in the future, I think i can live without heat. I can't believe how hard it is to get to it, To change it. :/ -

Its under the heater hoses and blower Its pretty much right where your feet go -
I got the generic 99-04 Wj CA's from ebay, Think it was like $100 for all four new? The bottoms go on with a slight cut of the metal bushing & The tops require a little more work IIRC, My tops went in fine because i had a drop bracket

Swapping 96 Cherokee To 86 Comanche
Lee21490 replied to Herc's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yea, There's a thread in the DIY sub-forum iirc. It has pretty much all the info needed for the wiring but doesnt include a column swap, Not sure if 95/96 are the same column, But i posted how to wire the 95 column in a later page in that thread. -
Swapping 96 Cherokee To 86 Comanche
Lee21490 replied to Herc's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Just remember, if you swap the whole column in, You have to run the brake light switch through your multifunction switch connector in the column. Otherwise you won't have brake lights that work -

Going Out Of My Mind Trying To Bleed My Brakes
Lee21490 replied to Lee21490's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Now, I would start all over again. Yea, Was going to re-bleed them after. Is there a "Lever" that keeps the star adjuster from spinning loose? /Last edit Before after. They were put on reversed, So the lever that stops it from loosening, Was on the side without the gear. -

Lee21490 replied to Lee21490's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Wondering if my adjuster star wheel things are install backwards on one side? The left was REALLY loose, Took a redic amount of turns to get tight, The right was off just a little. Seems to have given me back a little of my pedal, Not perfect though. /edit according to the net, They should only spin one way? And there should be a lever stopping them from loosening? Yea... Mine don't have that -
Going Out Of My Mind Trying To Bleed My Brakes
Lee21490 replied to Lee21490's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Unfortunately i do not. I'm about to run otuside & Adjust the drum star wheel thingers. I'm hopeful, But can't see how changing the front brakes would affect the rear adjustment :/ -
Going Out Of My Mind Trying To Bleed My Brakes
Lee21490 replied to Lee21490's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I've bled the hell out of all the brakes, Starting with the RR & so on. The valve was removed over a year ago, And has worked fine ever since, It was plugged @ the splitter block & A new line ran in the rear. Yes i have a adjustable valve on my rear line. Everything worked fine before i swapped out the front caliper/rotor/pads. The only thing i can think of that matches whats happening, is the rear brakes being out of adjustment.. But it doesnt make sense because they worked fine before i swapped the fronts. /edit and before someone asks, Yes the bleeders are at the top of the caliper, I did NOT install them upside down :P -
Okay, Where to start.... I replaced my front rotors/Pads/Calipers last night, And can't for the life of me get them to bleed. There seems to be no air coming out when i do the whole pump a few times / hold / crack the bleeder, routine. Yet the pedal goes half way to the floor before i get any brakes, After the 1/2 way mark i have AMAZING brakes. The master is less then a year old, The booster still holds vacuum after its shut off & has no fluid in it. The rear brakes were all swapped out the same time as the master & i have no load sensing valve or bypass line for the rear. I just don't understand it... already went through half a galon of #!@()P@^T(@)#&^()&@^& brake fluid already.

Second this, Got a single in my 'manche. Takes like 5 minutes to install & fits perfectly.
