What flares are those? Been looking to buy a set. -
Yeah I've already don't the SOA swap, will the 8.25 lift me up anymore? A very minimal amount. The 8.25 iirc is .25 or .5 inches bigger tubes.

Why put money in a 35? -
Sounds like possibly a DNS server issue, Try swapping to googles free dns server (its typically faster then ISP servers anyways) Start bar -> Control Panel -> View network status and tasks -> Change adapter Settings -> Right click your network adapter & click proporties -> Double click "Internet Protocol Version 4 )TCP/IPv4" -> Click "Use the following DNS server addresses:" -> For Prefered type 8.8.8.8 -> For Alternate type 8.8.8.4 -> Hit OK -> I believe you have to restart your pc for this to take effect. Hopefully this helps you.

Isnt that a b*@$£ to do yourself & a ton of $$$ to have a shop do?

So to revive this thread from the dead again.. Update: Just swapped in the 8.8 today, Drove down the road & I no longer have a clunk when stopping. But now have a new problem, New axle is making weird sounds. Sounds almost like when drum brakes are dragging a little, But really loud & pretty much only when you have your foot on the gas. Put it in nuetral / let it idle in drive while going down the road & it stops making the sound.

jcr offroad or nates 4x4 rear mj bumper?
Lee21490 replied to redwolf624's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Pretty sure the 4.0l won't either. Nates rear is through-welded tabs, You'll probably break the chain/rope long before it goes. -
jcr offroad or nates 4x4 rear mj bumper?
Lee21490 replied to redwolf624's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I bought a front/rear bumper & Rocksliders from nates4x4. They're EXTREMELY behind schedual right now, And are over a month out on orders. Took over a month to get the front & rear bumpers & I STILL havent recieved my rocksliders. Ordered them all on the 3rd of last month. So if speed is a priority, I'd go with jcr. Other then that, They're extremely well made. The welds are nice & heavy duty, The mounting brackets are pretty overkill, Which is nice. I can't really comment on the d'tabs yet, As i havent had the chance to take them out & try them, Been waiting on the sliders before going wheeling again. I did however ask him to make my rear bumper 64", And he shipped me a 62" version instead ~___~ And there is a coupon "Seasonal" Or something like that, For nates which takes off 10-15%~ -
RAD! You should get that Cheromanche guy to do your perches. Was thinking about giving him a call, If my brother inlaw is out of town when i get all my parts in, I'll probably call him.

Update; So there's about half a turn of play in the rear diff. 99% sure thats what's causing everything. Picked up a 8.8 with 4.10 gears & LSD from c'list today, Put new brakes/calipers/rotors on it. Ordered everything i need for the swap, Just have to wait a week~ for it to come in the mail. Thanks again for the help.

Did you do rear differential fluid? That's what fixed it for me; not the tranny fluid. Ah missread you on my phone. Yea, The diff fluid is new too. Had a buddy climb under & managed to make it clunk a few times, you can't find where it comes from though. Seems to be the transmission?
-
First, pull your drive shaft and grease the slip splines where the yoke goes into the transfer case. See if that helps. I keep reading that, But isn't that only for newer model Xj's that have the external yoke with the boot? Doesnt my tranny fluid lube my yoke? Good point. I had that clunk symptom with a '99 WJ and lubing the splines helped, but you're correct -- that was the new style, external slip yoke. Noticed today if i REALLY feather the brakes while stopping, I can make it clunk AFTER i let go of the brakes. So I'm going to have a buddy look under & see wtf is going on.

Maybe buy one of jims spares :rotf:

I actually flyshed and replaced the tranny filter not long ago. And when I did the old fluid still looked new and no shavings Also; Would i need a longer, Or shorter drive shaft for the 8.8 compared to a d35?

Would a 8.25 be an easier swap? or pretty much the same?
-
Yea, I'm aware. Prop valve was eliminated awhile ago. I'll check the local P&P First. Not in a rush, I just like to reasearch stuff in advance.
