So over the last few days i've smelled a slight burning electronics smell, Looked around never found anything. Last night i went to go to the store, Noticed a little smoke & more burning smell, Pulled over tore my dash apart a little, Found two wires coming off the blinker relay fuse box? That were spliced into a single, Heavier gague wire.. It was partially melted & smoking. Ripped it apart, Checked all my lights/etc found out it was for my turn signals (Hazards still work). I have no clue why it was spliced like that, P/O must have done it. No idea why it just now started shorting out, and didnt even blow a fuse. The entire dash/front harness is out of a 95 jeep xj I'll run to the hardware store & pick up a voltmeter as i just broke my last one lol Any ideas people? The three wires in that pic were together, wrapped in electrical tape.

It will be fine if you stay in 2wd, But like shelby said, Pull the driveshaft just in case.. You don't want to deal with repairing it if the shifter gets pushed into 4wd on accident. Also, it might just be cheaper to pick up a d30 with 4.10 gears already in it, And just swap the entire axle. You could also probably find a non cad 4.10 (Not sure what years/etc had 4.10)

The 8.8 swap you can do by yourself with a little help, The R&P install... You'll want to take into a shop. There's a axle & driveline shop down the road from my house that does good work for a decent price. Idr the name off the top of my head, But if you're interested i'll look it up.

The natural progession- Flares
Lee21490 replied to Jeep Driver's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have the bushwhackers on my truck, I really like them. You actually have to trim quite a bit off to fit them properly, It's pretty easy to do though. If you have a shortbed, they bolt right on. However if you have a long bed, You either have to offset the rear left flare, Or cut the bottom corner off your fuel door. I went with the latter. -
Looks like a poor redneck version of the batmobile.

That's beautiful.

SOA in the back, what for the front?
Lee21490 replied to Jackrabbit41's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Rubicon express makes a good drop bracket setup for the mj, Straight bolt on. Only if you just use the brackets. The highly recommended reinforcement plates require modification True. Although the reinforcement isnt as needed on the mj, compared to the xj. (Or at least thats what i've been told) Pete have you tried the bent lower arms that make the arms nearly horizontal? They work. If I had any modern technology I would Make and post a video of the ride and handling of my short arms without CAD as I drive around town and hit pot holes or go down the highway at 80 with one finger on the wheel. Although I could have better flex the truck is perfectly capable. If I had an extra grand I probably would have gone with a long arm set-up, though. I'm planning on a longarm setup when i swap in a new front axle. Still not sure exactly what route i'll be going. -

Drop brackets fix your arm geometry which improves ride, flex, and overall performance of your suspension. For a short arm i prefer both, the brackets to flatten the control arm angles and the adj arms for fine tuning, strength, and depending on the arms the flex joints. That's why i recommened the WJ arms. @ 5.5" lift with drop brackets they're pretty much the perfect length, Are WAY stronger than stock MJ arms & Cost under half of adjustable arms. Nice pic btw. -

The links no longer work in his build thread, All you have to do is google the part numbers though. They just changed the link for the parts is all on their sites. I'd just use alexi's as a guide & pick up some WJ control arms to upgrade while you're at it. -

So after swapping that durango steering box in.. The one thing i almost INSTANTLY realized at the mountain.. Is i have absolute $#!& power steering. So I picked up a 01~ Grand Cherokee pump, Had to tap it for threads & then drill out the mounting brackets to fit 3/8 bolts. Plugged the extra return line for the hydraulic fan & threw it all together. Only driven it a few times since i swapped it, Seems to have a bit more power. Havent tried anything offroad yet though. Now my next project is to figure out what the hell i'm going to do with my front axle... Been looking up G2 d44's and RockJock's. Not sure if i'll go that route.. Or just build this d30.. -
So i'm 6'4~, And my stock seats on my 'manche are pretty worn out. So i'm going to run to the pick'n'pull & grab some newer replacement seats. Question is... I want something a little more comfortable/nicer looking than the mj buckets. But i'm worried about the seat being too tall, I know some of the xj seats boost the height a few inches.. Anyone know of good seats to swap in, That keep about the same seat height overall?

Toyota's, Always doing stupid things! lol Went with 5 trucks, 3 toyota's an older wrangler & my comanche. Wrangler broke his rear driveline. Toyota #1 had an oil pump majorly fail on him, Leaking all his oil instantly onto the ground Toyota #2 flipped over while towing toyota #1 lol Toyota #3 Where to start... Overheated about 300 feet into the mountain. Kept flooding & not starting every time he shut it off. While he was trying to start it again, The door fell off. Blew like every fuse in his box lol. Stereo was stuck on full volume, Untill he cut the power. I walked away with just a small dent in my truck. Everyone else broke their $#!& lol -

So finally got that steel steering spacer/brace installed! Kept putting it off lol Also got my exhaust hung up correctly, Had it jerry rigged for a little bit. Going to the mt tomorrow to do some wheeling! Havent been in a few months. Got my phone/gopro fully charged. Hope to get some good vids / pics :D -
You'd still have to re-weld the perches, As xj & mj perch locations are different. Maybe ask him for an actual pic of his.

The 86 has a rubber filled driveline, To help reduce vibrations, Thats why its thicker. -

I wanted it to match the other side & be centered, So i cut the bottom corner off the fuel door. -
