So While i have the dana 30 out of my 86 comanche, I figured id swap the ball joints out. Bought spicers from ECGS http://eastcoastgearsupply.com/i-8050128-dana-30-spicer-balljoints-xj-tj-zj.html So here's my issue... The old ball joints i pressed out of the housing, Took a bit of power on the Ball joint press kit. The new ones.. Just slide in with almost no effort, Just a tap of the hammer.. Did i order the wrong part #? Is the 86 different or something? I've replaced balljoints on a d30 a few times and never ran into this issue.. The hole the joints go into doesnt look gouged or warped or anything. The old ones fit tight still :/

Rear bumper is MJ specific. Are you looking for a stock bumper? Or offroad style?

Aftermarket taillights on a Comanche?
Lee21490 replied to DirtyJeepGuy's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I think the only rear light that swaps without a huge issue, is the dakota tail lights. And even with those, You have to flip them upside down for them to fit half decent. AFAIK there is no straight bolt in replacement rear headlights, Other than the stock MJ ones. -

Are you doing it yourself or taking it to drive line services? I'll let DLS do the gear/locker install. -

Yea, Thats at sumas. My truck & a toyota both broke a front axle on that trail, like 20 feet from each other lol If you're planning on putting a locker in the front, Do it while you have it re-geared. So you don't have to pay to set up the gears twice. -
Yea, That is what i was reading on google. A few people swear by them though. Ohwell, Saved myself $50

You'll get around 5 inches of lift in the rear. So for the front, You'll need; 5"~ coils New shocks New trackbar New brake lines Control arms, or Control arm drop brackets longer swaybar links, if you plan on keeping it safe on the road

Crappy video of the day i broke my front axle, Accidentally had the gopro set to 4;3 instead of 16;9 -
Whats your opinion on them? Gimmick? Useful? Good idea? Heard it both ways when i googled it, Just wondering what people on here have to say about them. Thinking about getting a pair for my d30 I'm going to build.

So after awhile of looking around on craigslist/etc. I've decided to just build a dana 30, Seeing how it should be plenty strong for my needs & D44's around here are hard to find. Got the first peice in the mail today. Alloy USA 4340 Chromolly axle shafts + whatever Alloy USA U-Joints they ship with. Sometime later this week my Yukon Grizzly R&P And Timken Master rebuild kit are coming in the mail, Along with a Yukon Grizzly locker. Shouldnt have to worry about my front axle now! Will also probably truss the d30 while i have it out of the jeep. -

8.8 fluid and welding housing to tubes

I know i have a lsd but what is a friction modifier? It's an additive for gear oil for axles with LSD You can either buy oil WITH it, Or buy a bottle of it seperately & add it yourself. RTV silicone works great for a gasket. Did you weld your tubes to the housing? Yea, We just cold welded it & did a few 1" welds How are they holding up? They look fine, Havent had an issue with the rear axle since i swapped it. -

Need help, with lift plan
Lee21490 replied to 1st time jeeper's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
If you end up going that route, Google the part #'s. You can find them at nearly the same price as listed in the build. A few months ago I sent him a list of links for the parts, at the original prices.. But he never updated the build list. -

CAD is control arm drop brackets I know but is there also something called central axle disconnect? If so what does that mean? I swear I've heard that before Its a vacuum actuated disconnect for 4wd in the passenger side of the dana 30 axle. They later completely removed it. -

I'd love to throw a 44 under there, But with poor availability of them around here, Probably just another d30. -
