  1. Looks like the author did all his research on the Jeep website: www.jeep.com/history.html
  2. I have a 3/4 cluster from an 86 2.8 liter. I don’t know if it will work with a 2.5. I don’t need it. My cost plus postage.

  5. Pete, so are you recommending swapping to an XJ prop valve? I have had the dual booster upgrade on my "to do" for several years. The load sensing valve was deleted many years ago. Planning on redoing at least all the rear lines when I do this. Also, looking at disks in the back. Teraflex has a kit for D44 axles - $$$. I was wondering about the distro block vs. the prop valve.
  6. Are they repairable? My driver's belt stopped retracting, so I sent it off to www.safetyrestore.com, to get it fixed. Shipping it there and getting it back took the most time. So far so good. Another company I found on in my searching is www.seatbeltplanet.com. I have no experience with them. There website mentions fixing Jeep CJ belts, so other Jeeps were fixable also. I chose SafetyRestore because 1) they replied first, and 2) the quoted estimate was less.
  7. Follow up/conclusion: Received the seat belt late Monday. It took the USPS 6 days to deliver it. I cleaned the belt webbing before I installed it. It's amazing what 33 yrs of dirt will do. It now works as designed. It now retracts to its normal resting position. Nice work and good turn around on the part of SafetyRestore.com.
  8. Are you going to play striptease music as you open it? (Such at tease.)
  9. 86-early 87 uses one type of speedometer connector. mid 87 to 90 used a different type of connector. I believe the wire connectors are the same 86 to 90 91+ is HO and all electronic

Plain and simple, broil it. Slice them up, brush melted butter on them, and seasoning (salt, pepper, old bay, etc etc...My mom put on garlic powder and Parmesan cheese). Broil for 9 minutes each side.
  15. Search on ebay for comparable boat anchors.
  16. Drip rails Interior trim: backside of cab carpet board, top panel, head liner. B pillars and light. seat brackets (looks like a bench seat) Parking brake pedal If you can get under it, the fuel sending unit/pump. To name a few.
  17. I have the REM set to display the engine temp the the ECU receives (not the gauge temp sensor or the aux. fan temp switch). While sitting in line at a drive-thru, I watch the temp rise up to 219* before the aux fan turns on (AC not running). The fan will run until the temp drops to ~204*. So I know the fan and switch are working.
  18. Do you have an exhaust fan in the kitchen? l had a smell coming from a half bath vent. I had birds nesting in it at one time. Thought maybe one had died in there. I got a vent brush to clean it out. Using a fish-tape, fed in from the outside to pull the brush outside. To my surprise, I pulled out a 2’ rat snake. I called to my wife “Hey, come look at this...” It’s been a few years but she’s speaking to me again.
  19. Well. today I called Safety Restore located in MA and initiated a work order. Cost is $83 US, including return shipping (I pay to get it there). I will follow up when the work is done. The other company I found on-line was Seatbeltplanet.com located in OK. I called but did not hear back before I called the above. Wish me luck.
  20. JEEP - that is the one in MA. I have not back from them. I have found two others - FL and CA. One has replied back - No. If I find one that can repair it, I will post it up.
  21. A few weeks ago, my driver's seat belt stopped retracting. This weekend I removed the whole system to look at it. I didn't take the retractor apart - yet. I manually rewound the gear some to pull back the slack. Now it will not move out or in - like the old-style shoulder belts. I searched on www for companies that repair seat belts. Only two came up. One is in Mass. The other is in GA. I sent messages to both. I heard back from the one in GA. They do not repair seat belts this old. I have not heard from the one MA. Has anyone had their seat belts repaired - any make/models? Would you recommend that company? If so, do you have the name, phone # and email address? Thanks
  22. What do you have currently? '88 auto, but what else? Engine, modifications/changes? Complete your signature profile. What do you want to do with it? DD, offroad, etc. A good source for parts is a comparable XJ with an AX15, 4wd. It will come with all the parts you need to swap from auto to manual. Also, many of the parts from the front seats forward will fit on the MJ. (I said "many", not all.)
  23. That's what we call a "rounding difference."
