Holy Crap... What Happened?
Blue88Comanche replied to toid's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Checked the oil? Mine started running poorly once it got between the add mark and the end of the stick.... Have you checked the fuel pressure? Its possible the pump is going out. -
What Was Your Worst Mechanical Failure?
Blue88Comanche replied to TheDirtyJeep401's topic in The Pub
I completely lost primary brakes and was saved by the bypass line and manual transmission. -
I have an Aussie in my rear diff and run awd all the time. the front tiff I have a selectable locker. Of you don't want a selectable locker then for added traction get a limited slip. Do not use an auto locker in the front diff, while using any 4wd setting on the road. The Aussie in the my rear d44 acts very well, almost don't know its there when in AWD vs 2wd.

Comanche Rear Sway Bar, Short Box
Blue88Comanche replied to Jeep Driver's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
Awesome write up! Maybe i can eventually get around to doing this as well... my biggest problem will be the welding... guess i should start practicing my welds. well what if you have a refrigerator strapped down in the bed of your truck or a ladder rack? It will help roll when the COG changed due to any given load. While we may not need a rear sway bar, its handy to have. -
i have the 242 in my MJ, i had the 231 from the factory. I like the 242 over the 231 because it has the full time 4wd option. but the 231 has a larger aftermarket product base, (2wd low kit, 4:1 kit, sye kit). if you can get it for cheap is it possible to store it? Then you would be covered if something happened to your current TC. when locked it part time they are about the same strength. personally i would keep the 242, and get the 231 as a spare if it can be acquired for a good price.

I bought my speed bleeders from amazon. They work amazingly well. -
Front End Rattle........?
Blue88Comanche replied to Jeep Driver's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have some v8 ZJ cv shafts on my D30. they handle much better on road in 4wd full time. -
Replaced the starter, and cleaned off the tag, I think it was the original starter. The truck is working properly again and hopefully this one will last another 25 years

Can't Start Engine(Clicks Once)
Blue88Comanche replied to Reedtech's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
also check the ground connection on the engine block, it may need to be cleaned as well. Did you get a new battery recently? -
Discovered the awesomeness of locked differentials. would have gotten a flex shot but did not want to get the jeep stuck on the log......... you know, whoops to far, lol. Replaced 3 of 4 brake bleeder screws. bought a new starter. Hopefully tomorrow I can install the starter.

Front End Rattle........?
Blue88Comanche replied to Jeep Driver's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
When one of my front u joints went out it would clank during turns. The yoke on my front diff will rub my exhaust down pipe when I make turns or have enough suspension travel. If you changed the ride height recently the front axle may not be centered. -
Blue88Comanche Pioneer 4X4
Blue88Comanche replied to Blue88Comanche's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
The MJ decided not to start.... power to everything, I can hear the solenoid working, but the starter it self is not working for whatever reason.. I had just started it 5 min earlier. Bought a new starter, not sure how old the current one is. The new starter also has a lifetime warranty. hopefully this will fix my problem. -

I was going to cut off the bottom of the hinge so I would not need to mess with the door shims. you could do it the way you said but you would need to take the hinges off the truck to remove the factory door pin. then the hassle is getting everything put back the way it should and the door be adjusted properly.

Signs Of Power Steering Going Out?
Blue88Comanche replied to Blue88Comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
So I think the power steering pump may be on its way out. it has been getting slightly harder to steer, and I think it started making a new noise. when I replace it should I get a new one or a JY pump. any potential upgrades? Thanks, -
I have been better about taking pictures during my installs. I will be sure to post some when I install the light. Like you I am having the hard choice of drilling into the cab or not.

The weather down here in the southern part of Alabama was great, mid 60s sunny, finally a nice day on the weekend! I have been up to Boston MA, and around in New Hampshire in January & March. The snow was not bad the 2 trips went up there. City life is not for me, I stood and watched the traffic out of my aunt's window for about 10 min, and was thankful I did not need to drive in that mess...
