click on the link in my signature. there should be a pdf in there somewhere with fluid types and capacities. I think 75w90 is standard repacking the front bearings on dads 2wd 89 MJ was a simple task. we also replaced the front brakes while we where there. I think I had some pictures of the process in the build thread for dads MJ, also in my signature.

Engine Power Issues
Blue88Comanche replied to Blue88Comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I haven't worked on it any. and won't be able to this weekend as well. I know none of the sensors where replaced in the past 10 years. I bought a replacement coil to have as a back up. I eventually just want to replace all the sensors and the coil... just need time and money. -
the only problem with getting the Chrysler 8.25 rear axle is it not not "bolt in". However it would be worth the effort to have the spring perches moved. Later on, disc brakes from a KJ liberty would be another bolt on upgrade for an 8.25. Have you decided on the part time only 231 or the 242 with Full time and part time options? I have the 242 on my MJ and i leave it in Full time.

2.1 Td Pump Timing?
Blue88Comanche replied to 86mjmanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
take a look at automan's build thread, he also has a 2.1 Diesel MJ. Have you replaced the fuel filter? is this the first Diesel vehicle you have ever owned? if it is,before you go to crank it make sure to turn it to the "on" position and leave it for a few moments while the glow plugs heat up. there should be a light indicating not to crank yet. after the light turns off then crank the engine. from Automan's build thread Edit: Automan's diesel MJ thread: http://comancheclub.com/topic/31030-diesel-fuel-only-factory-diesel-comanche/ aside from that i can't really help any more on this subject -
I got back from my spring break trip with my parents, younger brother, and 2 of our 4 beagles. It was a much needed get away for all of us. The weather for the most part was perfect, aside from the rainy day. I really enjoyed my stay at Cheaha. It was nice being able to sit on the porch and not hear trains, planes, or highway traffic. Due to the winter storms there where a ton of trees blown over on the trails. The biggest problem we had is the Park's laundry facilities where not maintained well. The washing machine had a bad burning smell and the shut off switch did not work, We had to locate the GFI breaker and trip it to turn off the machine. The staff did not seem to care about the condition of the machines after we informed them of our experience with them. Mom has already started planning another trip to the mountains of Alabama this time we may return to DeSoto State Park. The drive up there was great. I discovered I loved driving the winding mountain roads in my Charger! Our Cabin There was a restaurant on the mountain with a great view. we hiked out to one of the waterfalls Hiked out to another over look On the day we had bad weather we drove down to Lineville and checked out an antique shop. It was a good stop. I left with 5 records and a cast iron skillet, dad left with a cast iron pot, cast iron cauldron and a old wood saw. The Last night there I got some pictures of the sunset. All the pictures above where taken with an iPhone 5s. I haven't uploaded the 500+ pictures from my Nikon yet.

Dash Gauges Lights?
Blue88Comanche replied to redwolf624's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
to remove the switch, disconnect the battery reach under the dash and find the switch on the bottom of the switch there should be a little button, it might be difficult to reach press and hold the button and pull the headlight nob out once the nob is removed use a large flat head screwdriver to remove the switch carefully remove the harness from the switch (mine was a PITA) I am 95% sure that it the proper method to remove it. I only took mine out once. -
I have only seen the standard covers with only fill plugs, I know aftermarket covers will have a drain plug. I don't see a problem with taking a factory cover and having a drain port added.

Check out this thread http://comancheclub.com/topic/12565-permanent-fuel-rail-pressure-gauge/ I added it to a renix MJ, the gauge is at a different angle but it is still readable. front (Edit: the fuel pressure regulator is centered in this pic, it is attached to the fuel rail. on the left side it has a vacuum line, the right side has the fuel return line) Drivers side

Truck Bed Tunnel For Subwoofer
Blue88Comanche replied to toid's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
My uncle and I built a custom box for two alpine 10" subs. The interior airspace is right in the middle of the recommended for those subs. It fits like a glove behind the seats. I have had them for a couple years but haven't put them in the truck. I don't really use the radio in the MJ. -
I have a Nikon D-90 with a couple lenses I try to use when I update my build thread or make a write up in DIY. Otherwise I used an iPhone 4S for 85% of my build thread prior to getting the Nikon. Now I have an iPhone 5s and it takes amazing pictures and so did my Nokia Lumia 920. For taking pictures of the MJ an iPhone is fine, but when out taking pictures on the "wild" is where the DSLR shines. Most can have a shutter speed of 1/4000 or higher. At that speed I can take a picture of a dragonfly while it's flying and see the all the features in its wings. I mostly use the iPhone for on the spot pics or videos. Again most new smart phones can record in 1080P HD. Batterie life on my Nikon is amazing. Without flash I should me able to take several thousand pictures. I only charge the battery once every other month. I have a 64 GB SD card in the Nikon and it will hold 8,400 pics at 12.4 MP.

Someone makes a speaker mount that replaced the kick panel under the dash. I have seen them before. I just don't know the brand.

now that does clear up how to cut the hindges and all that but doesn't answear my seal question, is a bad seal all on how ya put the hindge back on? also what is ya have hindges like mine where the hindge in the door jam is welded to the body? Redwolf if you take the time to proper re align the door it should not leak any worse that it does now. if you have a dremel with a small cut off wheel you can cut off the bottom of the hinge without removing it from the door. its a bit of a PITA but i did that to my red MJ as a trial run.

Broken Sway Bar Bolt Removal
Blue88Comanche replied to Blue88Comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I will give that a shot, drilling out the center should not be to bad. the heat with a torch i can do, but i am not sure if i can weld a nut to the broken bolt as it is broke off a thread or two in the frame welded nut. I have a 90 amp flux core mig welder I bought for small projects looks like i get to use it again -
last night something very strange happened... My younger brother actually wanted to work on his MJ. The sway bar bushings needed to be replaced. he removed the first 3 bolts without much trouble, the last one by the time i noticed he was putting to much effort in to the bolt it broke and he rediscovered gravity as the sway bar landed on his face. and that leaves us with this (see picture below). Any recommendations on how to remove it? we currently have everything bolted back up less the one broken bolt.

The Recommended clutch fluid is DOT 3 brake fluid. However if you replace master cylinder, slave cylinder, and the soft line use DOT 5 brake fluid this way if the master cylinder starts leaking on the fuse box it won't melt anything....

I have thought about doing this and possibly getting tube doors for summer yard work. after the second deer hit the passenger door it has always leaked. thats why i had rhino liner sprayed in the cab and won't have carpet.
