  1. power windows can be gotten from any 4 door cherokee up to 96 models, make sure you grab the cross body harness that goes from side to side. They swap right in no problems
  2. did you ground the test plug or just let it hang? It has to be grounded to fire.
  3. you most likely have a bulb out somewhere, it only happens to me when i lose a marker light
  4. Do you have the switch for the brake pedal in place? It won't work without one.
  5. Yes, I just put a new drier on which should be done whenever you crack the system open
  6. The top 2 bolts are external torx bolts. They are a real pita to get if you don't have the right socket/swivel combination
  7. I would be wary of R-12 unless it is brand new sealed container. Alot of people are selling recycled R-12 that has been known to be contaminated. I got the R134 conversion kit at napa and it worked perfectly. You just have to make sure your system is fine and make sure you have the proper amounts of oil in the proper places or it will not last long, I am not sure if your drier requires oil since I don't have Alldata available here at home.
  8. check the gas and make sure it IS gas
  9. the torque converter has to be seated all they way into the input shaft, you have to slide it on, then turn it while rocking it till it goes all the way in or else it will not work, transmission fluid should be checked at operating temp running in park.
  10. maybe have the bulb in backwards? older housings it is possible to do that causing a backfeed, also the mustard stuff is a di-electric grease to combat corrosion
  11. Someone on here has converted their hood to a cowl induction type hood, I can't seem to locate the thread though. I plan to do that on my 90
  12. could be a lifter loosing it's prime, mine did that when hot
  13. if they welded on the truck with the battery hooked up they prob fried the alternator
  14. you have a ground problem somewhere
  15. find a metal shaft that fits it snug but not too snug, pack wheel bearing grease into the hole and tap the rod in, the grease will force it out.
  16. Does the gauge show voltage? or is the idiot light on with key on not running? If not you found your problem, take a test light and touch to the non yellow wire and see if it lights up. If it does have someone start the truck and see if the test light goes out, if it doesn't then you have a wiring issue to the dash.
  17. Do not use them, they are cheap Chinese fuses and do not blow when they are supposed to. Story to follow. A customer had his Cherokee towed into our shop yesterday, he said a fuse to his heater controls blew and he put in a new 15 amp fuse. 20 minutes later on his drive the dash starting smoking. The vehicle died and he quickly unhooked the battery and had it towed to us. We found the entire under dash harness had come within prob seconds before a fire would have started. We found the fuse was not blown. Having heard of HF fuses not blowing when they should we ran a test, we hooked a 10 gauge wire onto either side of the fuse and put it inline with a carbon pile load tester. we got 120 amps from it before the 10 gauge wire started melting!!!! Fuse never blew. We were able to recreate the 120 amp test on 3 of the 5 fuses from his purchase. I did a quick internet search and found a lot of posts about the same problems, so be careful and if you have them in your precious truck, take them out and replace them with a quality made fuse. 18. Ground problem, check the grounds from the battery to the body and from the body to the engine
  19. remove the small hose that goes to the water pump and fill it there, it will get rid of the problems with air pockets by putting the coolant on the backside of the thermostat
  20. Most likely the hose inside the tank attaching the pump to the sending unit, 3 inches of hose and 2 new clamps is all it will cost you.
  21. Check inside your distributor cap and make sure it didn't get wet, also check it for carbon tracking
  22. Sounds like your alt died, even new ones can fail. Check for voltage at the stud and check to make sure one wire on your plug has power with key on, if not it will not "excite" the alternator to charge, second wire in the plug if it has one turns on your charge light if it has one
  23. is it an automatic or standard trans?
  24. New transmission mount, they get old and let the trans sag enough to cause that
  25. spend $70 at Harbor Freight and get their ball joint press, makes the job simple and you can put it on craigslist once you are done with it.
