This may have been on here before, but I wondered who all had jeeps other than the MJ. All the years we've owned the TJ, I don't think I've ever posted pics of it. It is a real early 97. Manufactured in spring of 96. We've owned it since the fall of 97. 2.5L 5sp w/ 178K on it as of now. So here is the MJ and the wifes TJ. She was the one that always wanted a jeep by the way. :dunno:

I would build a Brute waaaay before I'd consider a JK8. I'd actually love to have a Brute.

AH-HA! Thanks.

So, are the Chevy regular shackles too long?

New project New person to forum

Typically a V8 is a bit hard to keep cool in these trucks. Not impossible, but... If you want to avoid all of that hassle, a 3.4L out of a Camaro is a very nice power and reliablity upgrade to the 2.8L. It is the same block, so you can retain your accessories. I think they were around 200HP. Just an option. Doing that swap would save you a bunch of money and headaches that you could spend on other stuff on the truck. Good Luck with whatever you do with it. Nice truck, by the way. -
Yikes.

TeeHee. Sorry, but that is funny. I've done stupid stuff like that before. We all have. -
No gauges work except speedo? Help!
Dadinator replied to Dedaw's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Probably the speedo cable is holding it in. You may have to release the clip that connects the cable to the back of the speedometer. Most likely the wiring connector has come loose. good luck! -
Congrats. I guess I'm not the only old guy on here with grown kids. :brows: You getting that kind of mileage with a stroker 4.?? I've only had mine on 1 road trip. But I was pulling a trailer so my mileage wasn't very good. I'd be tickled to get over 20 with the ole mule.

Just as an example, mine are 15X8 off a TJ. 31X10.5 tires. Stock ride height. Wee bit of rubbing on the control arms at full lock. If offroading, would probably rub the fenders just a bit as well as I hear it from time to time again at full lock. But not enough where I'd alter anything.

Nice truck, but he'll be lucky to get the opening bid...

1989 comanche 4x4 4.0 Project: Shells bells
Dadinator replied to xeducatex's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Rear cherokee flares are not the same. I tried it from a 2door XJ, they are slightly different. Yes, definitely do both floors. Maybe the transfercase linkage needs adjusted? Good Luck! -
The cat on mine is long gone. (Before I even owned it, it was gutted) Flowmaster sounds nice on it. 4.0's don't sound rice. Deep sounding rumble like. Not loud. Not V8 mind you, but definitely not rice.

Welcome. I am also one of those who didn't think he'd like jeeps. I was all about sporty cars when I was young. Mustangs, Corvettes, etc. Why would anyone want anything that slow that handles so poorly? Now I don't have a sports car and have 2 jeeps. The comanche and the wifes TJ. She actually got me started on them. She wanted a jeep so I bought her the TJ back in 97. We still have that same one. Though, I'd still kill to have a GT500, or a Viper. :brows:

1990 Rebirth ('97 Conversion)
Dadinator replied to Rymanrph's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Mine isn't straight either. But not side to side but up and down. My bumper is lower on the driver side than the passenger. My father-in-law had one of those jack/cranes in the back when he had the truck on the driver side. Picked up some too heavy stuff a couple of times and the frame is slightly tweaked. My son wrecked the truck twice too. So, it's not perfect. It just has personality. Most people wouldn't notice it. But I know... -
Good deal. Nice truck.

My advice is if you are going to do all of this and not just what Pete suggests is that you get steppin'. You ain't got much time. These large projects like this always seem to take longer than you think. Good Luck with whatever you do.

You'll need the sending unit for the oil pressure and coolant temperature from a truck with gauges. U might be able to get them from a parts store, but I don't know the cost. I had a donor vehicle... The sending units for your truck are for idiot lights. Thoses 2 gauges won't work right without the correct sending units. The one for the oil pressure is by the distributor and the one for the temp is on the back of the head. Check my build thread. I'm pretty sure I have pics of both. Easy swap.

Hmm. Seems cherokees are a dime a dozen around here. I'm surprised you can't find one. I got lucky and found one quick with a 5sp since I was going to convert mine. I was even super lucky and got one of the same year as the truck. '90. That took the guesswork out of everything. Good luck.

Get a set of guages out of a bone yard from another comanche or a cherokee with the tach and full gauges. Check my build thread in my sig. It has the gauges upgrade in there. Like the truck. I think I'm going to go with some Dakota seats in mine eventually as my bench is pretty worn out. Not the fabric, but the foam and the springs are shot. I feel like I ride on the floor. Gambler wheels from a TJ like mine. :brows: Looks like a great truck to start with...

What did you get the injectors from and how much did they run ya? -
Never really kept track, but I see a few around here at times. There is a local here that I talked to awhile ago that had a pretty nice short bed. I told him about the club and he seemed interested, but I'm not sure if he joined.

I Need More Wiggle Room... And An Updated Home
Dadinator replied to neohic's topic in Member Projects: Other Cool Stuff
Neohic, Looks like you need another room for your welding helmets. :dunno: I'm in pretty good shape now. I've got a 2 car garage. I also have a barn that I've been slowly moving my tools into. It's also where I park the truck. Dirt floor, but that's OK. Creeper moves OK on it.
