  11. Thank you guys for the awesome welcomes.yes I have looked into the 3.4 and 3.8 route. I really don't want to go that route. I am from Michigan as we need hp for the mud. I feel for all the trouble I am going to put in a v8 and since I am moving 3 hours north of moab and will be doing some rock crawling I want fuel injection.
  12. Hello my name is Jason.I am new to the forum but not new to Jeeps or 4wd. I live in northern arizona soon to be orem utah. Well anyways I had the chance to buy a comanche and I have always wanted one so I picked it up for $600. specs as follows: 1986 Jeep Comanche XLS 4x4 Longbox 2.8 garbage ax-5 trans 207 transfer case 4.10 gears factory locker rear( I hope has sticker in glovebox never removed cover yet.) hp 30 front dana 35 rear Well my plan was to get it running and drive it while I was building it but #2 and #5 rod bearings are spun. So now what to do a 2.8 is not worth putting any money in to. I have found a 1993 Grand Cherokee at my parts place with a 5.2L auto tranny and the full time transfer case. I think I am going to atempt the swap.(230hp 300ftlbs and 4.10=fun.)anyway i know the axles won't hold up for long but that is what swapping is for. future plans: 8" long arm front suspension 36" millitary tires (already have) soa rear with extended shackles exocage tight to the body bobbed bed dana HP 44 front and LP rear 5.2L Magnum auto tranny 44re? np231 with 4:1 low 4.88 gears lockers front and rear Here are some pictures for you northern guys this is a arizona veihicle its whole life no rust at all guy bought it brand new and drove it back and forth to work. 174000 miles of coffee cigarettes and beer nasty! small crease front of rear flare to drivers door Let me know your feedback. I would like to know if there is any fellow comanche owners in the salt lake area that like to wrench going to start the swap the begining of next month when we finish the move.
