  1. Your bro has a very nice looking truck, cracker. I'm not a big fan of the black rims that everyone seems to be using these days. On that white truck, I think it would look sweet with some polished aluminum baja's or atlas II's like on my wifes TJ. Nice looking rigs, all...keep 'em comin'! .
  2. Most computers come with paint. (if you're running windows) Find your picture on your computer. Right click on it and then point to "open with". Choose to open the picture with paint. Click on resize and adjust the size until it is what you like then save it with another name (so you don't corrupt your original).
  3. Difficult to say without more info and seeing it/driving it.
  4. My favorite truck on here. Looks like the suspension did very well. How does it drive on the street?
  5. Posting deleted. did you buy it?
  6. Nothing is a bolt on in the rear end except an MJ rear end. The spring perches will have to be cut off and new ones welded in if you go any other rear axle. Front is XJ, but rear is MJ specific.
  7. That was talked about when the movie was new. I think there may be an old thread of comanches in the movies. Do a search to see if interested.
  8. I have a 90 TCU if you're interested.
  9. Windshield and headliner if I have a job and can buy them. I'd also like to build a teardrop trailer. I have an old boat trailer frame and the plans...
  10. Jake, Rymanrph speaks the truth. I will add, that you should give us all the details on your truck. Which tranny, what the symptoms are that you think you need to replace the engine/tranny? Pictures are always welcome. We like pictures. The front axle should be a dana 30. It's a pretty good piece unless you are doing some serious wheeling. The biggest complaint with our vintage is the CAD on it. It can be bypassed pretty easily, though. Your rear axle is most likely the dana 35. It's pretty weak as you know, but not quite as bad as some make it out to be. If you wheel a lot, it will become a weak link, but if you're mostly street driving and only light wheeling, it may be fine. Anything from the front half of a Cherokee will swap. The rear is pretty unique to the Comanche, though. Give us details and we'll try to point you in the right direction. And Welcome!
  11. Did you change out the rear main seal while apart?
  12. OK. I'm going to try to be reasonable. Given the constraints of the OEM's... I'd start with a lightweight true framed truck. Single Cab, modern 4 cylinder 2wd manual transmission standard. 6ft bed. Very few options should be an inexpensive truck. A V6 model would be available with Chryco's new Wrangler engine. Also some sort of small diesel would be available. Optional Automatic transmission. Optional 7 ft bed. I would offer a extended cab as an option with a 6 ft bed. There would be a metric ton / towing model with the V6 as standard with heavier springs and axles similar to the metric ton option in our comanches The diesel as an option. 4x4 would come standard with more ground clearance and larger tires standard. No Push Button 4x4 crap that manufacturers use now. Manual linkage. There would be an off road package that came with lockers front/rear, greater ground clearance and even larger wheel/tire package and some factory lightweight skidplates, tow hooks. Options would include: upgraded stereo, sunroof, leather seats, power windows, locks and seats, remote entry. Sliding rear window, bed liner, roll bar with lights and/or toolbox. Maybe an integral toolbox for the roll bar option. The 4X4 models would have the additional options of: rocker guards, and a front winch. A 4 door crew cab would be available, probably with a 4-5 ft bed. (Not my taste, but would probably sell) My choice would be the extended cab 4x4 with either the V6 or the diesel (Depending on the price), manual tranny, off road package/with the metric ton / towing package. Roll bar w/lights, toolbox that integrated, sliding rear window, bedliner, rocker guards and front winch, sunroof and upgraded stereo. If all that came in a package with the power windows and locks, I'd take them, but not needed. I would pass on leather seats, power options. As far as styling, I like the Nukieser a lot. It would have real round headlights and a jeep looking grill. I would not have the JK's plastic fenders and bumpers, though. Plastic flares are OK, but not the whole fender like the JK's. I also like the Brute a lot as far as styling.
  13. I feel ya! I remember when my son recked my comanche. It was his at the time. He wrecked it twice, but the 2nd time I needed to score a long bed. Found one in NC and made the trip as it was only 100 bucks from a member on here or jeepforum... I think it was here. Been a couple of years ago. It was rust / dent free and is on the truck now. I also ended up buying some wheels/tires and bedliner from that same dude. Good luck on the rebuild.
  14. Appreciate it.
  15. Holding up just fine. Black silicone caulking. Caulked the inside of the hole, outside of the hole then put the bolts /washers on and dabbed more on. No Leaky. Need to seal up the windshield the same way, but it's broken. So, I keep waiting on some money to replace the whole thing. Someday, I'll replace the headliner too. Just need some money.
  16. The tach should work. Everything should be there for it. Mine did.
  17. Yup. Just messin' witcha.
  18. Sweet. Looks like fun! Now lift that and make it 4X4... :brows:
  19. Exactly why I chose not to do a roll bar on mine and then add a tool box. Rather have the versatility. I just mounted the lights to the roof for the "look" I wanted. Toolbox to carry my stuff.
  20. Yup. But you have to change the sending units to make the oil pressure and temperature gauges work properly. Oil pressure unit is by the distributor and the temperature is back of the head.
  21. Plan on the truck being down awhile. You will find a lot of little stuff that has to be done as well. You'll need some changes to the wiring harness to make sure the truck won't start unless in park. You'll need the AW4 tranny computer and harness moved over. Lot's of little details. Pedal assemblies will have to be swapped and some wiring under the dash. I did the opposite. I changed mine from auto to manual. Check my build thread for a few pics.
