Block Drain Plugs Hard Stuck
MJCARENA replied to flint54's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
A little C4 might help get it out. :smart: Sorry not much help. Did you try tightening it, then loosen it, sometimes it helps break it free. -
Bad injector, stuck open. Pull the electrical connector off an injector. Should notice the engine misses. If it misses put it back on and try the next one. If the engine doesn't miss, then the injector is most likely bad. Just a possibilty. You could also pull the sparkplugs out and see if any are fouled.

You have a very nice looking MJ. I like that bed slide unit, never seen one before. Is that a factory option for the Dakota or an aftermarket item.

I changed out my cooling system for the open style, the expansion bottle was leaking and just wanted to get rid of it. Put in a new radiator, heater control valve, hoses. Got it all together and working. Going to take it on a road test, shut the hood and the engine dies. Won't start back up. Open the hood and it starts. :dunno: Strange? Shut the hood again and it died. Looked to see if the hood is hitting anything, all looks good. Played the open/shut hood game for a little while. Then finally it wouldn't start at all, open or shut. Checked and had no fuel pressure. Checked the fuel pump relay and ballast resistor, both good. Measured voltage at the ballast resistor and only had 4 volts and the resistor got very hot quicly.Thought maybe my fuel pump shorted out and is loading it down. Disconnected my fuel pump by the tank and got the same readings. Disconnected the orange/black wire at the starter relay and measured the voltage at the terminal, 12 volts good. ohmed out the orange black wire to ground and it was shorted, not good. Traced the wire and found that I had somehow pinched the cable between the ac condensor and the body when I put it back together.Moved the cable and it starts and runs normal again. I guess when the hood was shut, it put pressure on the condensor and shorted out the wire. Took half a day to figure this out. Something to watch out for when changeing out a radiator.

Comanche of the month, July 2011 --- MRSIMONS's 1987
MJCARENA replied to Automan2164's topic in Comanche of the Month (MJOTM)
Awsome truck. Really like the bed you made for it, very clean smooth lines to it. -
Have you tried the JunkYards. The Pick A Part here gets $15 for any car stereo, I have seen cherokees with aftermarket radios in them. Just a thought.

Its more like putting a Honda Civic around a V8
-
Looking good. I guess that really is going to be a Comanche Custom.

Replacing ignition with switches
MJCARENA replied to 1tonMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Why do you have a ground wire on the run switch, won't that ground out the +12v when switched to that position. -
Good luck with breeding them. I"ll send you a check as soon as my UK lottery winnings get here. I only have a couple of more fees I have to pay first. :hmm:

Welcome, sounds like you have a good plan. Take photos and post as you go. We all like pictures.

Your truck looks great, good job on the stickers. Kind of wish I had an Eliminator, I like the graphics.

New Name Project SKY HIGH!
MJCARENA replied to MjAllTheWay's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Sorry about your truck, glad your ok. Was wondering exactly where the drag link broke at. Do you have any pictures of it, Just curious, had a friend have one break on the street and ended up in someones yard. This one broke at where the threads end next to the pitman arm. -
Very sad about the Comanche, I like that they said the driver of the Comanche was not hurt. Pushed in the side of that Cherokee pretty good.
-
OK. I can see if it hits the swaybar itself. Makes sense for longer links then. Since it is rubbing on the lower mounts, adjusting the trackbar won't help, the axle and mount will move together. I would add a couple of washers behind your steering stops.

Factory Original Bumper Finally Installed!
MJCARENA replied to LambertLambert's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Looking good. Nice truck. -
How would putting longer swaybar links in keep the tire from rubbing on the swaybar links, just can't picture this in my head. I would think he just needs to adjust his steering stops or needs a more offset rim. :dunno: When you adjust the track bar, you will only have to move the axle 1/8 of an inch over to make it even on both sides. I would like to see a picture of it rubbing.
-
My first choice would be yellow with a black bumpers, flares, and grill. Second would be gun metal with body color grill and chrome bumpers. What ever color you choose it will look great since it's an MJ.
-
Wouldn't look bad there, maybe put one on the tailgate. Its your truck so do what you like. Here is the same one on Ebay a little cheaper http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DMC-5451 ... ccessories

Found a bench seat at the JY with headrests, the fabric was dirty and torn, but the headrests were in good shape, so I just bought the back piece. Swapped out my original seat cover onto the frame with the headrests, cut holes where the headrests go and reinstalled the seat back. Image Not Found

Swapped out the back half of my bench seat for one with headrests. Used the original seat cover. I also put a couple of washers behind my steering stops so my tires won't rub on my lower control arms.
