No Start, Tried Everything
MJCARENA replied to Mack4194's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Strange it was your distributor since you had both spark and fuel. :hmm: Glad you got it running. -
freaking jeep wont start
MJCARENA replied to snowboard3r411's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Does the engine turn over but not start or nothing happens at all. If nothing happens at all , try to start it in neutral instead of park.( neutral safety switch bad). Also could be a bad ignition switch, starter relay or statrer. -
Dome Light wiring question...
MJCARENA replied to 87Chief's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The black/white wire goes to the door jamb switches. When you open the door this wire is connected to ground. The black wire is always grounded. The red is hot at all times thru a fuse. If you want your lights to come on when the door opens just use the black/white and red wires. Leave the black wire unconnected. Hope this helps. -
Wanted Comanche decals who makes them?
MJCARENA replied to comanchedude's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Try contacting this company to see if they will make some. They already make the Pioneer and Sport Truck stripes and the Elimintor decal. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MJ-JEEP- ... ccessories -
Went and had a Line-X bed liner sprayed in today. Had them go to the first body line on the bed and tailgate. They did a dreat job, removed the tailgate handle screws before spraying and even sprayed up under the bed rails. :D BEFORE Image Not Found AFTER

No Start, Tried Everything

I would put the new cap and rotor back on and install new plugs. Seems to me that it was arcing to ground inside the cap from the grease, like when you get water inside it, thats why it was running rough. Then your plugs got gas fouled because the cylinders weren't firing.( you mentioned that the plugs came out wet) I am not there, so this is just a guess from what I have read so far. Since you say you have spark at the plug wires and fuel. The other thing I am thinking of is if your timing has changed, like the timing chain jumped a tooth or more. Hope you get it figured out and running again. -
Picked up a set of taillights from tbrand. Cleaned them up and installed them. Not sure if I like the look yet, or go with some black trimmed ones to match the bumper. Before After

Sounds like it is flooding if the plugs come out wet. I think if you hold the pedal down all the way when you try to start, the computer takes this as a flooded engine condition and will not fire the fuel injectors until it reaches a certian rpm. You might also try new spark plugs, sometimes when plugs get wet fouled they just don't arc the gap like they should even if you dry them off. Unless you clean them real good (sand blast type sparkplug cleaner) -

Did you try putting a little gas down the throttle body. Maybe your injectors are not working. Also where did you check for spark, at the coil or at the plugs. I have seen bad rotors short out to ground and not let the spark reach the plugs. -
Yes you can get 4.88 for the HP D30. When I went to regear my XJ with 33's I was told by the shop if I ever thought about going to 35's in the future that I should put in 4.88's. Went with 4.56 since it would cost to much to fit 35's on it.(tires, lift kit, SYE, drive shaft.etc...)

I will probably hit the junkyards this weekend. Will keep an eye open for this style. I think it was either $25 or $35 for it. I bought the newer red style first and then found this one at another yard. Even if you don't want it, I will get it as a spare.

where did you get one like that?! i really hate the red outlines on my new gauge cluster, but it still beats dummy lights i guess. also hell forget the PRNDL thing all togther. why cut up a good looking cluster, just go by clicks when you shift. three and your in OD. $#!& ive gotten so used to where the lever sits when its in drive, i just pull it down instinctively. Came out of an 80 something Xj at the junk yard. I agree I don't want to hack up the cluster. I don't think I really look at the PRNDL when I shift anyway. Would you be interested in a cluster like this if I find another one.

Cup Holder for XJ/MJ console
MJCARENA replied to 1987Comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I had one and did not like it. Made the E-brake harder to use and did not do good offroad. Removed it. -
Swapped out my gauge cluster today. I went with the older style gauges, goes with what was in the truck before. Don't know yet what I am going to do about the PRNDL indicator. Might do like Hornbrod did. I also added the light for the cigarette lighter.

Installed gauge cluster, Don't know what I am going to do about the PRNDL. Might mount an external one like Hornbrod did.

x3 on the non disc. Less stuff to go wrong.

Very good advice to follow, and wish you luck on getting the new job.

I have been to alot of the yards on Broadway, tons of XJ's, the only MJ I found was at Ecology on 27th ave and it was already stripped. Haven't looked for about 4 weeks. Good luck. If you find one I am looking for the interior map/dome lights, if you don't need them.

Your truck looks cool. I was wondering how the exterior wood is attached to the house in the first place, I think all of your houses are in violation if nails are used. :hmm:
