    "The Middle"

I've been to the center of the North American continent. It's in North Dakota.
  2. 61%. And I guessed right on several I didn't know.

    "The Middle"

Be sure to ask if middle is side to side or top to bottom. It's an important distinction.

    "The Middle"

I would have liked to have seen a Scrambler or CJ7 but the ad agency probably balked at the prices compared to a 5...
  5. Swapping gears is tedious and meticulous work. It's not overly difficult though. It does require some specialty tools beyond a press. If you're going to do many axles the investment is worth it. If you're only going to do it once or twice, it's worth paying a shop to do it.
  6. I get on an 80's kick now and again.
  7. Chrysler has a new generation 426 Hemi. I seriously doubt that's a 60s Hemi he put in. https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a24404997/1000-horsepower-426-hemi-crate-engine-mopar/
  8. It'll have a Dana 20. The Dana 300 didn't come out until 1980.
  9. Probably related to abusing the motor. Low speed doesn't mean part throttle. He very well could have been WOT getting up to speed when it let go. If he had been hammering it a lot for a long time, it was bound to happen. Besides, I put "happened at low speed" and "low boost" in the same category as "ran when parked". He may be telling the truth but who can say for sure? He may have run into a rod with an unseen flaw that decided to let go. Or he may have ragged it out until it popped.
  10. I wouldn't take a Jeep with a rotten frame. You may get your money back if you part it out but is it worth the work?
  11. Then run a 4500. Plenty of them in full size Chevy pickups starting in around 1993 or so.
  12. Sure it will. You can find factory parts to bolt them up easily. The 4.3 V6 came with a 3500 and uses the same bellhousing. Get a standard flywheel for the 350 (may be the same as the 4.3) and the right clutch parts and it all goes together easily.
  13. Probably. But that "V8" doesn't make much more power than a V6...
  14. If you get one from from a chevy it will.
  15. GM used the NV4500 in the 1/2 ton trucks. They used the NV3500 in the S10 behind the V6. Many people put the 3500 behind mild V8s and they hold up fine.
  16. Looks good
  17. Not blinking is usually the relay in the fuse panel. Easy and cheap to fix. One is for turn signals, the other is for the hazard lights. Fast blink is burned out or disconnected bulb. You won't see that until after you replace the flasher relay.
  18. Did you check your blinker fluid? Sorry. Had to.
  19. It's a good engine but only if you don't live in a strict emissions area. I can swap a Mercedes diesel or TDI (or even XJ/MJ 2.1 diesel) that came in an 87 or newer car or light truck. As long as it came in a vehicle in the same weight class and it is the same model year or newer I can swap it. But even though it meets strict newer emission standards, Cummins never went through the CARB certification process so I can't use the R2.8 here. The 2.8 is sold in vehicles all over the world but never in the USA. One alternative is to find a vehicle from 1975 or older since those are 100% exempt here in CO. Maybe when I retire and move out of state.

    Bows

The benefit of not having been shooting for a while: I have a bunch of ammo sitting on the shelf. The downside to not shooting for a while: I haven't been out shooting in a while.
  21. It's hard to predict what will actually last another 30 years. For what it's worth, RockAuto has a Dorman brand replacement manifold for just over $140. It's a bolt in replacement. Will it last? Maybe. Maybe not. But even the expensive aftermarket stuff sometimes has a lot shorter lifespan than you would think. Or it may last until the truck is nothing but rust...
  22. Exactly. My XJ and MJ are my toys and projects. My 2019 Subaru is a generic daily driver that just works. I don't have to think about it. I don't have to worry about it. I may replace it with a new truck to share towing and daily driver duty. If I stick with an old truck as a tow pig, I'll keep the Subaru as a daily.
  23. That was back in the day before spelling checkers. And people were lazy. These days we have spelling checkers but lazy people still mix up homonyms (there/their/they're, your/you're, moot/mute, etc.) so it's not much better.
  24. The buyout happened in the middle of 87. So it does make sense that data for the model year would have been pulled in.
  25. Not surprising that the AMC era stuff never made it into Chrysler's database.
