Mine doesn't swing both ways, I hope Wade's is a female. :rotfl2: I doubt that is the case though...

:D I literally walked out to the truck, checked the fluids and started it up. I drove it to the garage and changed the oil as well as gave the entire truck a grease job. Drove it the rest of the weekend and everything was checking out just fine. Made the trip through 4 states wonderfully on Sunday. There is something to be said for a vehicle that can be drug out of the woods and driven 400 miles in the same weekend. This isn't the first time I've done this though, been down this road multiple times with both trucks. I Love my Jeeps.

Correy, I've done what you are attempting to do on the old '92 4.0 HO XJ of mine. If you need some help don't hesitate to call. I remember the top of the old seal being a bear to get out. I had to beat and beat and beat on it before it started to move around the crank. I highly suggest getting a brass punch for this step. My XJ was lifted 2 inches when I did this and I was able to finnagle the oil pan out with a bit of time after I had jacked the Jeep up. Might not hurt to have a small bottle jack so you can jack the axle away from the body once you have the body sitting on jack-stands... Disconnecting the shocks will give you more room too. Break the bolts on the axle end of the shocks, they are easy to get at and replace. I greased the seal up really good when I put it back in and it seemed to work well. Once you get it half way in it gets easier and easier to push the rest of the way around. Grease is your friend... GOOD LUCK!

How did things end up working out? For those of you giving Correy a hard time about the gear oil, it was me that gave him that idea. :???: From the desperation in his voice when he called me and with about 5 seconds to think of something for him, it was the best thing I could think of to help thicken the oil up and get him to a mechanic, other than getting some of the Lucas stuff - but that is not normally stocked at Gas Stations... It sounded to me that it would not hold oil at all and I figured that some oil is better than none. I didn't know that there are things in gear oil that could damage the engine. Hopefully by thinning it out with regular oil everything is ok internally...

The nice thing is that I drive through Kalamazoo often (about once every two months). One of these times I'm going to stop in after I order something and save myself some cash on shipping. I'd be willing to do that for other people too, but you gotta meet me on MY route to or from Madison... JCR makes good stuff, I'm glad to see them doing well in a tough economy.

If nothing else, Roger you sure are good for a laugh :dunce:

A loose track bar is almost always the cause of "death wobble" Always torque your lugnuts back down to 100 ft/lbs before driving the Jeep and check them frequently. I've been in THREE Jeeps where the lugnuts loosened up during driving on the driver's side of the rear axle, always caught it before the wheel fell off though.

Great Pics! :clapping:

I personally saw Pat a few weeks back. He said that he doesn't frequent Comanche Club anymore for a few reasons (I honestly do not know them). I don't have a method of contacting Pat other than PM's through the internet, no phone or email, I cannot help you in that regard. At the time I saw him he mentioned the previous thread and spoke of how this package was sent off and had apparently gotten lost in transit. I am calling neither party a liar here. This is just the side of the story I heard. Don't kill the messenger. I hope that this MESS gets resolved soon and that BOTH parties can work it out so that each feels compensated justly. I am considering myself neutral on the topic and don't wish to discuss it further. However, I thought that this information was pertinent to the conversation and before things escalated further it should be publicly known. Lets get things taken care of before the entire board splits right down the middle on this topic. It is my opinion that we should focus on other topics than this (like our common interest in the Jeep Comanche Pickup). Godspeed to the BOTH of you to clear this up.

I'm confused, whats getting swapped where? Rob L. Pat and I discussed swapping my entire '97 front clip for some parts he has that I want last weekend. We've about got it figured out for me to get some parts he has in his massive inventory. So I'll be reverting the truck back to the old style front clip, which I have decided that I like more... Hence the need for another 10 slot grille :peek:
-
How would that work? Enlighten me

:D You're wrong Correy. Since Pat and I discussed swapping over the '97 front clip, I need to start gathering hard to find parts for the next setup I'll be putting on the front of the '90... I know, I know. It won't be the correct "factory" setup to put back on there, but my '88 has been cruising with the UNBROKEN 10 slot for 3 years now and I absolutely love the look of the 10 slot grilles... And thanks to the last visit, I've now gotten all the parts I need to complete the setup, however it currently has two passenger headlight buckets in it so the drivers side is kinda just sitting there... Next I wire it all up and make it into a set of disco / party lights for all of my rave parties  :jump:

You still see the occasional one being driven my a Michigan State Police Officer back in Mi, can spot it miles away with the red cherry top and Navy paint... Always fun to see an XJ still in service...

I don't see whats wrong with it, throw it back together and keep drivin' Shoulda never gotten into the ZJ world Rob :rotfl2:

I'm planning on being there again for the third one in a row. I'll be bringing an old friend with me this time though... Also, if it has (and it should) the factory 10 slot grille I call dibs on that baby from a mile away. I'd even pay you for it AND give you a replacement 8 slot so you can put it on that mobile BBQ of yours... That really is the only thing I can think that I might want off of it right now...

I know... is it a bad thing that I am this excited though Roger? :dunno:

So, in two weeks I get to drive my beloved '88 all the way back over here to Wisconsin to be reunited with me again. I CAN'T WAIT!!!! I'll post pics up once I get it here, should be a good time back at home (it'll also be my 24th Birthday), be nice to spend time with loved ones again and to GET MY TRUCK BACK!!! :clapping: I found these pics the other day when I was going through my camera case and found my "Hunting" SD card. I took these last fall when I went out to retrieve my bow-stand the day before rifle season started back in Upper Michigan. It's gonna be hard to find a place this nice this fall in Wisconsin... I had apple trees around me here and was sitting in a small Oak tree with two long ranges of vision to the NW and SE along the lines. Lots of action there... I'd be lucky to find a nice Oak again in amongst the corn fields around me here. But the upside to that is that there ARE corn fields around me here... It'll be an all new experience for this Michigan Boy this year... Anyway, back to the point, I GET MY TRUCK HERE IN TWO WEEKS!!! Also realized I never put this one up, this is what the truck looked like right before I parked it in the woods and put the cover on it back at home.

Well, lots of things have been happening to the truck lately. I've been grinding off all of the surface rust that was all over the truck thanks to the peel and stick rubber trim that was on it when I got it. That stuff did nothing but hold water and even though I like the look of it, I'll never put it on a vehicle I own because of what its done to this one. After I grind out all of the rust I can with my abrasive pad on the drill (its the best I can do now without having my Dad's shop), I spray the bare steel with self-etching primer. I then cover the primer up with some Gloss White Valspar Tractor Enamel - it was on sale at Fleet Farm, looks good too. I'm doing this because all of this work is temporary, in a few years its all coming off and the whole truck will get the (same color :rotfl2: ) re-paint then when I restore it. I take before pics of everything so I can document where the rust was for future reference... After some quick spraying... It at least looks better and the rust has been neutralized for now... :dunno: The body hasn't been my entire focus though, I've also replaced the front brakes with a set of slotted rotors and carbon metallic pads - the best ones I could find for the 2wd front axle. Got all my parts from http://www.frozenrotors.com. So far they are WONDERFUL! I'm looking into how feasible it is to get a nice set of wheels now for the truck, I might wait until next spring though to do this to help keep them nice... AND, after personal debate, I've decided that I want to remove my '97+ Front Clip and return the truck back to its stock setup. I've already struck a deal to change out the clip to a fellow CC member for some parts. I'll be getting some sought after MJ stuff in return for the clip and I'll be much happier with the look of the old style grille again... How it sits now...

Glad to see things are coming along nicely for ya. Truck looks Great! You Oughta post answers for some of the questions other members posted about your reman engine (Up there ^) - I'm interested in hearing about the choice you made and what all you had to go through to get it too... Keep up the good work! - Brent

I'd offer up just as much money as you have to pay for it on hand if you make an offer on the white one. Sellers like when you pull out a wad of cash to pay too so tell them you have cash when you are dealing with it. Before you offer any money though, take it out for a test run and see what clunks and clicks it has that you'll have to fix... I was looking at the first pics you had posted up, back when you first swapped over the body panels and it was painted all different colors. I'm wondering what rims you had on it then? I'm looking to buy a set of wheels like that for my 2wd and would love to hear your opinion of what brand wheels you had on... Best of Luck, Good work so far! - Brent
