  1. I've been thinking that I'll end up going that route. P/N 701191. Did it come as a complete kit or did you have to go get the gaskets, etc.?
  2. M-715's are in a class of their own in my opinion. So are MJ's. If you want an M-715, do like I am and start looking to buy one. That way you get the real thing and you don't have to cut anything up.
  3. I'm running that combo right now and I have been doing it for the last few years. It's been pretty good on gas, but I'm sick of it. 4.10's are coming next year when I install lockers!
  4. I'm sure it is a good header. The issue I have with it though is that I'd like to retain my single exhaust system. I don't have much in the shape of fab tools here too (mainly missing a welder) so a complete bolt on setup is preferred. I'm also looking for something stainless.
  5. Umm... no.... Its not a good deal. Rob's truck is in REALLY good shape. I know. I've seen it. Trades can involve anything though and cash might change hands in the process to make up the difference... In the end its all his call, just thought I'd bring it to his attention
  6. Wade, You gotta stop "driving that truck into the ground." Those look like my kind of trails. Keep me informed on future runs up there! Maybe make a longer trip out of it and catch some wheeling in the UP too.
  7. Rob, Here is how to get rid of your ZJ. http://madison.craigslist.org/cto/1412199570.html You get rid of the ZJ and end up with a running pile of future MJ parts... :dunno:
  8. All the info I have would put your '87 5sp 4.0 Dana 35 into the same category as my '88 was when I got it - '88 5sp 4.0 Dana 35, with 3.07 gears. I didn't even mess with re-gearing it, I took it out and it never came back. There are enough guys out there (at least up here) trying to get rid of their MJ Dana 35s that are geared at a much more desirable ratio. You could probably go pick one of them up CHEAP and just swap it in for a short term solution.

 I like the stance of that one. Maybe something to think about for the 2wd's future  Did they start it to bring it out for you or did they push it over? Manual or Auto? Built off of a 1987 base truck? How did you get so lucky to be able to go see it in person?

I bet there are ALOT of other sweet rides in there too.

So we don't know the fate of the Thunder Chief or where it is today?
  13. X2. It shouldn't be that hard to do. The bottom of your trusses are in tension. As long as you secure the stairwell unit in there well enough to essentially make it perform as PART of the truss for tensile loading, you should be fine. When my Dad put the one in our garage back home he put it on the garage wall that connected the house to the garage... :dunno:
  14. Hey Guys, My stock manifold is cracked and I don't want to put a stock one back on if it is just going to crack again. What are my options for an aftermarket header? It looks like Borla doesn't make them anymore...
  15. Close up pics of what specifically? The rack, the roll bar or the mounting points. I didn't use any stock parts when I made this setup. Everything is aftermarket.

I'm surprised that they didn't take more pictures of it... Maybe some people have some personal shots that they took of it in the museum. Thanks for the info Pete!
  17. Doubling your parts storage eh?
  18. Those ones are cool and all, but this one takes the cake! :hijack:
  19. I think this nasty fall weather has gotten everybody down. :dunno: Finally got a nice day today though!
  20. $170 at RockAuto.com for a shiny new Spectra Premium steel tank, part #JP4B. You go through all of the hassle of putting an old used one in and it just rusts out in a few years anyway. Save yourself the hassle of doing this again later on down the road. I just replaced my fuel tank this spring with the 18 gallon unit from them and I was VERY happy with the new tank I got. Made in North America - Canada - and everything lined right up as if it were an OEM unit. Comes with the new gasket and lock-ring. Ships right out of Chicago, was at my door-step in 2 days.
  21. ...seemed perfect for the topic at hand.

Anyone else have a better pic of this thing? I would love to see one. Some good shots might help inspire my third MJ build-up... :brows: gotta get another one first though.
