I'm actually going to be going back to Michigan this weekend for a friend of the girlfriend's wedding. Somehow I got drug into this one... :help: If I had my way I'd be along with you guys on the j-yard run. I'll be rolling through Rockford on my way back on Sunday though, maybe if I get there before 5 or so I'll give Rob a call and see if you guys are still in town...? Good Luck, keep an eye out for Renix Cherokees and Comanches for me. I might be needing some parts sometime in the future for whatever reason.

yah, thats the worst I've seen it as well. Don't take this the wrong way, but I'm glad you aren't putting that MJ back on the road...that was just plain UNSAFE! Even if you would have gotten it taken care of other parts of the truck wouldn't have lasted much longer. Strip 'er down of everything you want and send 'er to that big steel pile in the sky. -
It can be for those guys for sure. My office is right next to the yardmaster's office and thats where they all hang out when there aren't trains to run somewhere. They are all really cool down to earth guys, fun to hang around with. I am the railroad's civil engineer, basically the guy that designs & builds the track for the big beasts to run on. Its alot of fun, something new everyday.

Hang in there Joe.

:wavey: Any openings Brent? Rob L. :D I'm keepin' an eye out for ya Rob. Unfortunately we are waiting for the economy to turn back just like everyone else. There are alot of guys that we laid off that get the first shot at jobs when they open back up...Keeping you posted though.

I do have a small layout, its been boxed up for years though, last I knew the track got dirty and there were some issues with the locomotives... Here's mine today, Full Scale

I think my Dad has a few back home in Mi. If you haven't found some by the time I am home for Christmas, let me know and I'll see if he still has them and wants to sell.

I doubt they are dropping the Comanche line. RockAuto is a Madison based company and my neighbor works there. I'll ask and find out.

We got 15" on Wednesday - a dusting to what I'm used to getting for the last 4 years up in the UP of Michigan... We worked our butts off at work yesterday and today shoveling out the switches in the yard to get the trains rolling around Madison again...

Hello Mr. Mike!

Yah, thats what I meant but in a polite way... As long as you've got the stuff I want I'm all for doing this on Sunday. I don't want to drive over there, give you the complete new style slip and come back without the rest of the parts to complete my old style clip... if you don't have the stuff I need ready then we can wait until you do.
-
Well, its entirely up to you when we get this thing accomplished Pat. I'm ready to go with the stuff over here. Its already (95%) off of the truck. Time is running short for me being gone for Christmas vacation and then I'll be laid up for a couple weeks after the surgery in early January. I'm not gonna push it with recovery time for getting back to 100%. That puts us earliest sometime in February... Remember that I am REALLY only wanting clean OEM fenders and a clean OEM header panel out of this deal. I don't care what color they are, just that they don't have any rust and have minimal dents if any...what dents are there I want to be able to see. I'm not really looking for something thats been worked on previously. Yes, when it comes to parts like this I can be anal. Next weekend 19th & 20th won't work - back to Michigan for a wedding... I respect you saying that this weekend isn't the best for "other" reasons too. If I'm not really welcomed at your Parent's place than I'd much rather just stay away until the dust settles. I can understand and sympathize with you there...

I love you too Roger... :fool:

Well, I guess it was worth a shot, thats all I've got for ya... For future reference I looked up the part # I have on my spare one. Bendix # S100620004C "Made in France" :rotfl2: ' luck to ya - Brent

Just read your post. Seems like a viable option for me at this point. Do you happen to have a part number? I'll assume this is a dealer only item? I can't seem to find it online at my local places (NAPA, Advance, etc.) Maybe I'm searching for the wrong thing? Now I've got a spare Chrysler one in my box of spare sensors & stuff, I can check for part numbers on that when I get home tonight. Its not a dealer only thing. Rockauto.com has it: http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/x,carco ... ttype,7172

It looks like its worth his asking price too. How did he not find out about CC if he has owned it for 7 years?!!! Pete, we gotta rethink the corporate advertising scheme... :rotf:

Well, I've obviously got the truck running now. Its been running GREAT for the last 5 months since I got it on the road. For the sake of other member's future knowledge I just thought I would revisit this sucker and "close the file" I left off with having my Dad try and get things taken care of while I was at my last semester of college. He continued to try things, ohm out sensors and got nowhere. I had already basically given up on the truck and was about to start ripping it apart for parts but he decided he would take it to another mechanic and let him see what he could find. The guy was good. It took him about 5 hours to find the problem (which I was both happy and sad to hear - 5 hours of labor to find the issue didn't excite me). It ended up being the Ignition control module. One of those freak things that goes bad and costs you an arm and a leg to get a new one cause they usually DON'T go bad. Mine was fried. It had heated up so much that the contacts were not in their correct places any more, thus SOMETIMES making the connections and SOMETIMES open. He popped the new one in and the truck immediately started up and ran great. So thats what it was. Simple fix for spending over half a year testing systems and diagnosing things while I was home from college. I'm now regularly driving the truck from Wisconsin to Michigan and since I've given it a bit of a tune up and some new injectors I'm easily pulling a baseline 20 mpg highway with it on NON-Ethanol gas. Case Closed. :driving:

I'd be interested to see if your problems are caused by the Ignition control module. That darned thing had me chasing my tail for months on my white '90. Just over a 100,000 miles on the truck and for some reason it went on me. The problems I had was intermittent. After we pulled the junk one out and replaced it we saw that the junk one actually overheated and so the contacts would make sometime and other times they wouldn't. I went through a whole plethora of parts and sensors trying to chase it down. I'm too lazy to retype it so I'll just give you a link. Maybe it helps give you some direction towards getting yours back up and running. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=13850&start=15

I'm originally from about an hour directly north of Grand Rapids and I'll be rolling through Grand Rapids on the 24th to go home and then again on the 2nd to come back to WI... we can figure things out this weekend. I'm not really liking the idea of making room for a dash in the back of my truck as it is right now though, I'll more than likely be bringing things of my own back with me.
-
I'll be coming from Fitchburg, WI Guessing that I'm going to be bringing I-94 most of the way... My preference is Saturday if that works out for everyone.

I see your point Pat, but I like the point that neohic brings up too. Stuff like this is good to know. Maybe we can make a separate thread for bolt ins and one for sources... this thread is about bolt-in drive shafts. I'll thank anyone to keep other information out. this is for guys planning on swaps, so they can plan accordingly and pick up what they need before the swap....keeping them from being stranded. I'm sure we've all been at that point of "oh sh*t I have to drive this thing to work in 20 minutes and have no rear drive shaft...

I just love it when people leave the "Grand" out of the title when they are selling a Grand Cherokee. Same thing as the regular Cherokee, right?
