Fixed timing! It starts and drives! Still leaks oil.

Talked with Pat? -

I'm seriously thinking about going to this and looking at getting this guy if its still available: http://madison.craigslist.org/pts/1367594874.html If not, I'll still probably go cause I'm sure there will be a good share of AMC stuff there...

4.0 timing chain slop... is this to much?

Good Job. :clapping: -
Be honest, did you win? "It's a clean Pickup, you don't see many of those around anymore." Ha - We do everyday! :rotfl2: For the record, I stopped into the DMV tonight after work and licensed both trucks in Wisconsin and I am an official Wisconsin Driver now too. Got a regular "truck" plate for the '90 and a "hobbyist" plate for the '88. Out the door at $452. :wall: Dang.

I'm looking for that Maytag I put a link up for. Might they have one of those? How close to you is the place?
-
If you do destroy the radiator, I just bought a gently used RENIX one on craigslist for my '88. The radiator in it doesn't look to have much life left. Although it is nowhere near as rough as the finless one you have in that Red MJ. The cooling issues are gone now that I have a good cap on the bottle for the '90. :clapping: http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1260 ... e=Top-Load

What time? The usual 10 am, or earlier? I'm up and ready by 6 am thanks to my new internal clock for the job. So I am good to go for any time you are. I am thinking about rigging up a washing machine in my apartment. I need to buy one first though and I was planning on doing that this weekend, might go shopping for one tomorrow night after work... The short of it is that I am sick of having to go to the laundromat and I want to mess around with rigging this thing up right in my living room off of the lines to my kitchen sink and then draining it into...something. Maybe my Bathtub. I gotta exercise my manhood before "she" comes into the picture... :clapping: We'll get your motor in first though and see where I am with time afterward. Maybe the washing machine will be the project for Sunday.

I took the roll bar out of "old Blue" cause it was getting to be a pain to put large things in the bed again. Nice thing is that it goes in and out of the truck with 16 bolts in under 30 minutes. I'm so glad I made it easy to bolt in and out of the bed when I want it. Then I took us out for a twilight cruise. You know the kinda where you drive around with just your parking lights on for as LONG as possible. We haven't done that for quite some time, forgot how much I miss senselessly burning gas by just getting in the truck and going for a drive. ;)

Looks very nice! -
CW, Looks REALLY good so far, BUT - why didn't you center the axle under the trailer lengthwise? Our BEEFY wood trailer's axle back home is centered directly under the trailer and it makes it wonderful to hold the tongue up to move it around in the yard. It was built on a frame jig so it is exactly in the right spot. The tongue is pretty heavy so it always sits tongue down when un-hitched and it is a dream when we tow it, sometimes forget its there... Maybe thinking that it would tow nicer is why you put it so far back? I'm curious... Also, I know what fun you are having. My project last fall at college was kinda along these lines... I have yet to lift it though :D

Fair enough. When are you thinking that you will have it off of the truck? I could make a whole Saturday out of coming over to you and Pat's side of the state... And yes, I'd drive the Blue one over... -
Excellent. Working on the Jeep this weekend? I am free and can help. :wavey:

Glad you got that bed Wade. I was talking with him about it and was going to get back ahold of him to seal the deal. Looks like you beat me to it though. Which is good, cause I really didnt need a whole bed and I had no use for the roll-bar. So what you doing with the old Hunter Green bed? I was interested in the bed you now own because I have issues with the bedsides on my white truck. It really is all savable, the steel is there, but there are a few spots with alot of dents and evidence of past shotty bodywork. It would be easier to drill the rivets and fire up Dad's Plasma Cutter to put on straight sections that don't need as much bump work... Above my wheel wells I'm good and solid, it looks like thats where your bed is bad. Where yours looks straight are the spots I need, in front of and behind the wheel-wells - mainly on the passenger side, drivers I could make work if I had to, but I would still like to get those sections too... :dunno: -
Are the lines for the crankcase breather stuff clogged up? It sounds like that might be something to check, especially since you just took them off and put them back on with the new valve cover... Get an old wire coat hanger and run it through them to get the junk out of them. Oil shouldn't be getting pressurized that much!
-
I was thinking that you had it fixed by now...? Did you put in a new valve cover gasket on it?

Stick in the 4wd MJ and SOON TO BE stick in the 2wd MJ. I just need someone (GEONOVAST) to get back up to Wisconsin and swap his 2wd AX-15 out of his so I can swap it back in mine... P.S. I Really Really Really don't want to be swapping this thing over in the dead of winter... :rotfl2:

Like I say, I doubt you have issues if you are driving it around down there and things are looking fine... Rob isn't too far off of your new route there in Harvard, IL.

Thanks Guys! I just got myself back up and connected to the internets after my long weekend away. I had a great time up camping in the UP of Michigan. Met up with some friends from college and we had a ball. Took the Jeep out driving around a bit too, hauled all of the firewood around for the campfires all weekend! Good to get it out and use it after being parked all summer.

Nice Scores Rob! At first I thought you bought the whole MJ, then I figured out that yours was gray. ;) Just one more reason for you to get your place out in the country somewhere. The city can't tell you what to do there. Never will I move into a city for that exact reason.
