  1. It’s not a unibody, so a little bit different, but in my dad’s shop, most cars get full floor pans, from the firewall to the back of the trunk. You can, or use to be able to, but that whole piece for a 40 Ford. My dad recently did a 70 GTO that was from Florida that got quarters, doors, fenders, a trunk lid, outer wheelhouses, the trunk pan, a hood, and a roof skin because it was rusty. The interior floors were fixable and GM A-body rockers are galvanized, so they were fine. It’s crazy what moisture and salt does to cars.
  2. That 91 is sweet. I’d love to add a 2 door XJ to the fleet at some point.
  3. Welcome to the forum! I completely agree with this statement. New cars are expensive and when it’s getting work, you’re stuck without a car. If you’ve got several older cars, your initial investment is less and you’ll have something to drive when one of them is out of commission.
  4. Exactly! You might want to look at RCV axle shafts or ZJ CV shafts. Check out DeXJs on YouTube for reasoning why. He’s got a few videos on it.
  5. I was going to tag you in this because of the color and stripes. You beat me to it.
  6. An upgraded shaft really isn’t necessary. It seems like front axles get broken more than driveshafts, but a used shaft you buy might not be any better, so getting a new one makes sense. Nothing wrong with overkill either. I don’t like doing things twice, so I fully support putting on the best stuff you can.
  7. Looks great! I'm sure its good knowing that you should have it wrapped up before the snow flies.
  8. A couple that I like to have on as background noise are: Oceanliner Designs: usually talks about shipwrecks of ships like the Titanic and ships like that. Pole Barn Garage: he's a complete hack, but entertaining. His 64 Lemans series is a decent, realistic restoration that's pretty good. He's similar to Vice Grip Garage, but less corporate and has less time where nothing is going on. Vice Grip Lodge: Vice Grip Garage's other channel. It reminds me a lot more of the early VGG videos with some of the backyard repairs, but its mostly farm work on this channel.
  9. This is why I was skeptical too. Even by this point, AMCs only model left, the Eagle, was being built in Canada. I think Kenosha was being used for the Renaults. But the 2.5L plant was still in Kenosha and this truck has one.
  10. They’ve grown on me over the years. But the only color I like to see them with is red. Doesn’t matter if it’s an MJ, XJ, or YJ, they look decent as long as the Jeep is red.
  11. I like that plan. A set of turbines would look on there.
  12. Now what is the plan with it?
  13. Looks like a good one. I think you got it for a good price. When you get it home, could you get a straight on pic of the dealership sticker and add it to this thread?
  14. October 2024 - @iimafa's Towmanche Build Thread- https://comancheclub.com/topic/63924-92-the-towmanche/ Year/Model - 1992 2wd long short bed with a flyer that was in the glove box (the picture is of the day I brought it home) Drivetrain- 239k in the clock 2.5 with a junkyard turbo from a SAAB 9-3, Ax4, custom 231j/231c doubler 2010 super duty Dana 60 front, welded diff 2015 sterling 10.5 rear, welded diff Cooling- Stock radiator and mechanical fan, junkyard intercooler, (no hood currently) hole cut in hood over the turbo and wrapped exhaust. I just got an external oil cooler but haven’t installed it yet. Electrical/Ignition- The key ignition was destroyed when I got it so I made a combination push button ignition. The battery and fuse box were relocation, batteries moved to the rear in a custom triple setup and the fuse box moved to the driverside (it’s a mess) to make room for the turbo, it’s got a 120v inverter, 3 winches, double din radio with a 10 inch sub, and a second fuse box in the rear. Suspension/Steering- It’s on 63” rear leafs from a newer Silverado, and a bastard leaf pack made from two sets of Toyota rears for the front. The rear has air assist shocks from an Escalade and the front shocks are from a wrecked big lifted powerstroke. It’s got Traction bars front and rear. Ruff stuff track bar, 7/8 heim steering, Barnes 4wd weld on high steer with a small change on the passenger knuckle, PSC 1.5x8? ram(picture below was before the ram was installed), stock drilled and tapped steering box, a stock pump, Steering box brace and a track bar brace. Interior- It had a red bench seat, that I swapped for brown seats, door panels and center console from a country edition Cherokee of a similar rear, it’s got a A/F and body gauge on the pillar, and a double din radio with a backup camera, interior lights are LED and switched on the dash, custom tap handle shift handle, levers from the t-cases, CB radio and valves from the front and rear line locks. Brakes- Stock ford rotors, and calipers, dodge master cylinder with a grand Cherokee brake booster and proportioning valve, front and rear line locks(picture above). Lighting- Stock headlights, front and rear light bars, rock lights, interior lights, strobes Exterior- It’s got a Hybrid exo cage, three colors with about six cans of clear, a big front stinger, hood stack and a boom in the back. Wheel & Tires- Currently on 41.5x13.5 pitbull rockers wrapped around 17 inch method headlocks that are my buddies, but he’s been nice enough to lend them to me because my other wheels don’t fit. Thanks Con. Misc- It’s got a tubed bed with a wooden floor and some custom mounts to hold my tools, jack and cooler along with the tailgate having a work surface. It’s also got a large fuel cell, and onboard air powered by the AC compressor that feeds a 5 gallon tank. Best MJ story- We were down in the red river gorge area in Kentucky at about 3am when my brother managed to find a ditch with his YJ, this ditch cracked his old wagoner 44 knuckle clean in half. No trouble for the The tow manche I said (which at this time had only moved cars around my yard) we tied it up and plotted a course of about 10 miles on the road, rowing gears in 2 wheel low the 2.5 was run HARD the whole way, sitting at 8psi at 5k rpm’s we chugged about 15 mph up hills, she was sitting about 230 degrees the whole time but, we pushed on, the little 2.5 held together and didn’t skip a beat. CC is Awesome! Why? All things Comanches, what could be better? It’s a massive collection of info and great people that love helping out and keeping these old trucks going.
  15. If it were me, I'd probably buy it, peel off the stickers, fix the leaks, put new tires on it and take it to car shows. For some reason, it just clicked with me that it has the 3 spoke steering wheel as well. You may want to check out eaglescout526's truck. It is very similar to that truck and he is the most knowledgeable guy on the forum when it comes to the 2.5L.
  16. When is it coming to the states? Seems very well optioned. I hope we see a build thread on it soon.
  17. Stripes are not original. It seems weirdly optioned. Bucket seats and the mini console in particular. Looks like it also has cruise. No AC either, but it seems to have quite a few accessories. Must've been an old man special. I'm also seeing the early style center hood prop rod, which came on the early 87s, but it has the later 87-92 Comanche badges. This doesn't raise a ton of concern with me because 87 was a crossover year with both of those parts. I would also want documentation of the mileage, if possible. Its about the least desirable MJ out there. 4 cyl, 2wd, long bed, but there really isn't anything wrong with any of that. Bear in mind that low mileage does not mean that it will not have issues. The lack of use means that it will have its fair share of leaks and almost every piece of rubber will need to be replaced. Check the floors for rust and see if it looks like it has been painted at all. If the mileage is legit, the truck isn't rusty, and it hasn't had any paintwork, scoop it up.
  18. Wow! Those are cheap enough!
  19. I’m hoping the warmer weathers hangs in there for a while
  20. Looking very good! That blue really pops in the sun
  21. And that would explain the WI assigned VIN in the door jamb.
  22. Got the link: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/MoY2APBNYw7rcuM6/?mibextid=79PoIi
  23. It showed back up in my feed. I tagged you in the comments. I should’ve grabbed the link off of the post
  24. Oh yeah, it got my attention. Glad it was an easy fix with no real damage.
  25. That’s brave. Glad you got it done though.
