The number of times I have had this is awesome. I much prefer the “I had one of these when I was a kid” stories though.

The driveshaft is installed and brake parts are on order. I’m hoping for burnouts in the next few weeks!

Your Pioneer would not have the body color grille, nor does my Sportruck, that was an item exclusive to the Eliminator.

Well, right now I have my golf clubs behind the rear seat. In case anyone was wondering, golf clubs fit behind the seat perfectly with the seat as far back as it can go.

Waggy Tacos or Burritos?

New brakes no pedal, any suggestions?
89 MJ replied to jeepmjga's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'd delete it. When you are going down a steep trail, then you won't have much rear braking power at all. Just food for thought. -
@JolietJEEP'84 would likely have a tailgate/red interior pieces.

Personally, I’m a sandblast cabinet kind of guy. Quick and easy.

Totally forgot to ask

So a guy was bored and decided to start doing some calculating. I’m on my second fill up since the engine swap and I’ve been pushing it a little on the hard side, not beating it, just making sure there aren’t going to be issues that rear their heads soon and I’m already getting OVER 18 MPG. Not bad for a 3” lift, 4.10 gears, 31s, a 32 year old brick shaped truck and a 17 year old kid! This truck never ceases to amaze me.

Thank you!

@Pete M, @eaglescout526, please move to it’s own post. Upside down pictures are one of the forums quirks. Those look like two beautiful rigs you have!

what should I look for in a renix comanche?
89 MJ replied to morks's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
They’re a simple truck. The main thing to look for is rust. Check the floors, frame where the leaf springs bolts to it, bedsides above the wheel opening, rockers and cab corners. Don’t be afraid of rusty floors either, most trucks needed or need floors. If the lights work and it runs and drives fine, it should get you home no problem. I just had an AX-15 rebuilt at 300,000 miles. -
Yessir, hopefully the red one will see some love sometime soon, though! But I do have work that I need to do on the blue one before that happens.

I did my yearly application of Mother’s Back to Black today. It’s crazy how well this stuff works. Before application After application on one half. The current storage situation.

This truck is @mark 39’s truck. It’s a metric ton, and a great looking one at that. He came out to get some window regulators from me today.

I didn’t have room to store it at home since I was about to start college so I stuck it out in my friends field. It sat there for about a year before we tried to load it up to take home. The trailer didn’t have a winch so we used a rope and my tj. My friend didn’t get it lined up right so the front fell off the ramps with the back still sitting up on the deck. It bent the steering and about made my friend inside the truck steering crap his pants. We started over and it was still crooked so we ended up having to Jack the rear up and slide it across the deck. I’m amazed looking back that it didn’t turn out worse but we got it home and vowed not to do that again CC is Awesome! Why? Lots of great information and friendly advice Congrats @88mjsally! This is a really cool truck!

A guy would think so, but it was probably Chinese junk.

I don’t blame the part. After some investigating, we believe that we had an air pocket in the cooling system. The heat works much better now too.

Anyone using a MSD ignition on RENIX 4.0?
89 MJ replied to Coyote's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Would you be able to/be interested in creating a write up for this in the DIY section? This seems like hood information and it might get lost in here. -
Brand new aftermarket. Now the one original to the truck is back on it.
-
Grille, headlight bezels, and other front end pieces should be body color. I would guess that the color change was deliberate though—the Comanche and 4x4 badges are also black. I see it has the incorrect stripes too, but that’s a personal preference thing. It looks like a CRL slider too. I hope this and the Collins Bros MJ sells, it would make mine worth more. Overall, I think it’s a pretty nice truck.

The funny thing about it was that the people following me were more scared than I was. To be fair, I could smell that it was coolant though and not a fire.
