  1. From what I’ve been hearing a lot of people don’t like it and it seems like the battery enjoys dying early in its life. There’s been times at work where customers come in because their “fuel saver” battery will be dead and it would not be in stock here at the dealer. Chrysler can’t seem to keep the special battery stocked unless the dealer orders them on the side from elsewhere. But they are only on certain Jeep vehicles equipped with the pentastar 3.6 and fiats. So they are not terribly problem prone, just that battery likes to die
  2. No, they don’t. Thank goodness too.
  3. Alrighty, after spending half the day swapping throttle bodies around I finally got it done. Could not do a whole swap and done, I had to swap the bowls around as the other throttle body had another open vacuum port and the one that came with my truck did not have such. So after installing the wrong gasket and discovering gas leak around the bowl, I removed the body again and tightened the screws to the bowl and swapped in the right gasket and now she purrs. Still a tiny leak around the bowl but there's nothing I can do as no one seems to make a rebuild kit for the 2.5L TBI. I did find and buy the last two injector retainer kits from Chrysler so that is now all new. Lesson learned, do not tighten those screws so damn tight! Updates: while back I swapped in a drivers side remote mirror so now I have a dual remote set up finally, swapped throttle body and several months ago I sent off an RX-141 radio I found at AMC salvage to be repaired after my goof up and Jeremy just now finished restoring it! I think I will probably end up swapping in that radio. Also swapped valve cover with the new one I recently painted and got a 21 slot grill on. I'll get a pic of that later. Future: Cruise control, radio and hopefully a paint job. Thanks Pete for this sticker! RIP Don. Edit: Just found a rebuild kit after some digging.
  4. What gogmorgo said, give it a good ole tune up and drive it around more than just a block and push it a little to get everything up to operating temp. Then go get it tested after your warm up drive
  5. Looks like a good idea. Probably would be a better alternative than cutting holes into the clock or the clock delete panels
  6. Thank you. Little update: Since replacing the O-rings for the TBI I have noticed an increase in throttle response and the injector is not spraying all over the place now. Woo!..... broke the injector retainer screw which some of you may have seen. Went to AMC salvage today, scored a whole cruise minus the speedo cables which I hope I can find new. Came out of an 84-86 Cherokee? I do not know but it had the GM deluxe trash can at one point. I may replace the wiper/cruise/turn signal lever if they are reproduced for cruise. Also a plan B to fix my screw up braking that screw head, the yard had a used throttle body while I was there and so naturally I bought that, luckily it was not a fortune. Plan is to get the throttle body cleaned while I'm at work before a weekend install After watching TFL's video on their MJ I may have gotten a little too inspired and I decided to take my front header apart and repaint the trim. I also restored my eight slot grill but that was before the videos existence. Now some pics: Naturally I love it but who doesn't love what they do to their truck. Not seen very well in the picture but I did buff the headlight retainers to stand out better.
  7. Parks and rec There is one in the movie "Small Soldiers".
  8. Not really an answer, but for as long as my grandfather owned the truck before me, he had put a blanket over the bench to protect it, cut holes in it for the seat belts and done.
  9. I bought one leaf set from them. I love it. Course any non broken leaf pack is an improvement over a pack with one broken leaf. That being said, their dowel pin to line up with the axle is not the same as the factory axle alignment pin, so save your old leafs like Pete said.
  10. Who knows? But we all know you can't do that with the HO front end. Maybe we could use that as the symbol for Renix era Jeeps
  11. After seeing this I realllllllyyy want to have mine repainted. Also I would like to point out that the grill is broken on the second slot closest to the passenger side
  12. In the top picture, from left to right is the cruise control module, emissions service timer and the ECU. As for the leaks I have heard the windshield and the master cylinder are common places
  13. I see a tool for mass reproduction.
  14. Wow. This sounds really familiar to me. When you remove it from the truck and put it on the bench, do you find the reverse or fifth gear engaged? This was my problem when reinstalling my trans, the fifth gear would slide in and I could not engage any gear unless I removed it from the truck and put the trans back into neutral. The problem was tilting it back and the trans would slide into gear. This trans is long gone as it grenaded it self.
  15. Thats the load sensing valve. Some guys delete it but that is due to it not working.
  16. Chime module is blue or black Black chimed only on key in ignition or seat belt, blue does the previous two with addition of warning you about the headlights dash/headlights being on The silver fuse is the wiper breaker.
  17. Holy cow! Those taillights have mirror reflection to them! That's a score to make some jealous. Did ya find them in a junkyard?
  18. https://www.crownautomotive.net/Idle-Air-Speed-Motor/83502375.html .
  19. You can rebuild the stepper motor. Nickintimefilms on YouTube rebuilt his and it works fine Why doesn’t he need it? Renix uses it to adjust the speed of the engine at warm up and keeps a decent idle. Crown actually makes new units for the Cherokee which uses the same engine for the same years.
  20. No. The accelerator pedal is lined directly to the throttle body. It can possibly seize up but the springs on the body could be an issue as well. The other thing is the stepper motor could have locked up into the ready to start position and that’s where it’s staying and not moving down like it should after initial start up.
  21. They can if they want. They could run the route of using Chryslers H.O. system for the 2.5Litre or use the old Renix injection.
  22. Meh, I would not buy a new switch unless you really really needed to.
  23. Well, I ought to follow up and the results are not terrible but not great The defrost switch came out as the worst, the rear wipers came out acceptable From left to right: Defrost, both rear wipers and NOS fog light. Used plastic restore. Not great but decent. I wouldn't pick up a bottle unless the other options don't do well.
  24. Well I know there is new switches available but I’ve had some luck using some plastic restore that is used for auto detail on sunfaded plastics, but I never tried such on one of the switches. I think I have a couple and I can see how well they come out this afternoon when I return home.
