Ok! After spending a few hours taking a booster out, putting the new one in, taking it out, putting it in again and yadda yadda till it was right I finally have a really damn good braking XJ. Here’s the old and it’s shape Heres the 84-90 compared to the 91 and up If you ignore the protruding push rod, they’re pretty damn close to being the same. Except for one detail. The hole for the brake switch is too small. So I drilled it out. Got the size close to right, minus some welding and dremel work to make it close to the other booster. But I got it, brake lights work, brakes damn well. Even got the rears to lock up after a quick acceleration to 30mph. All in all, it was worth the effort and no more failing booster and hopefully my idle will no longer be at 1500 when driving and starting. Which means I’m gonna have to adjust the ISA again at some point.

84-01 XJ Cherokee parts will fit so long it’s a 4 door No ZJ or WJ grand Cherokee interior parts will fit at all.

Washers and dryers are your friend for floor metal if your in a financial bind.

There should be a clip that attaches to the back side of that collar if it’s the one in the cluster. I have a loose indicator that I can snap a pic of later to show ya.

Got a write up on this? I’d love to fix mine in the future in the event it fails. I remember sending a couple off to another member. Not sure what happened to that member.

The stalk plugs into the wiper switch. I wouldn’t worry about it being tight like a new car as even if you swap out the switch, it still pivots on a rod that goes into the upper housing of the column.

If youre good with electronics, it could be fixed. Mostly capacitors and resistors on the back.

So it goes under the top trim of the header with these brackets. Pretty neat and clean actually.

I wonder if the connector and the sensor itself are dirty and creating resistance.

Does it go down before starting? Does it also move up during cranking but just gets stuck at 120? As for the ISA, I used to hear mine click but after all the cleaning and upgrades I’ve done to the wiring, I haven’t heard mine click in a lonnnnnng time. This isn’t a bad thing, this just means that that the ECU is able to get a better read on where the ISA is after shut down rather than just giving it power until it bleeds off from the ECU. I honestly do not remember the last time I heard mine click. I do hear it move though. It’s quiet since I’ve rebuilt the motor but I do hear it.
