Has anyone installed the new redesigned door hinges before? I have two new sets from Chrysler and they are way different but function and look like what would be used on the 97-01 XJs But Chrysler says they are direct replacements for the old ones. Just the side that mounts to the body is more open than the old solid one.

Try looking at the 4.2L on CJ’s and YJ’s. They used the same bracket for the AC and Alt on the 2.5L up until 86 but the 4.2L has it until Chrysler stopped putting it in YJ’s in ‘90

College Budget 1987 MJ Build

Right? You remember seeing something and then you never find it ever again! Now I would have to guess the material is a paper thin like rubber. That's all I got. -

The exhaust flappers? No I didn't. I was very fortunate to have mine indecent shape from the AZ heat. It looks like those vents are just crusty, falling apart and need to be replaced. Buuuuuuut, not all hope is lost. My best guess is if you can get some sort of very flexible and pliable rubber, you could poke holes where the holes need to be on the vent and make new flappers with the vent. They are rebuildable, just the right material is needed to do what the vent was designed to do. -

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07H5948V4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I used that for the vents. Works great but you end up with a metric ton left over. -
Alrighty @Minuit Here’s for not installing it for a year and your amazing work fixing what I broke lol. RX-141 installed. Now I just need to get one of those dongles that locks on to an empty station and does Bluetooth and aux/usb. I wish I could upload a video of its performance but can’t without doing YouTube. So I tested out everything and it works perfectly. Even the cassette. Yes being 23 and having cassettes. I can blame my girlfriend for her obsession with that. I prefer vinyl.

Did the same thing with the bigger crate except it holds most of my misc fluids and oils. Used hinges for the lid. -

I will admit. Both those pieces look to good to be furniture. But still awesome. -

I’m gonna do this to my original tailgate that’s all mangled. I like it! -
Chances are the terrible running could be vacuum lines being plugged or broke, exhaust manifold cracked or not tight against the head or sensors going and or are bad. Possibly dirty grounds as well. Anytime anyone acquires a new to them MJ, we have them hit up Cruiser54's Renix tips.

Nope, Registry is the right spot for your VIN and what not. Build thread goes in the Members projects section.
-
Mind making a build thread for this beauty?

The parts manuals actually decode each digit of the VIN better than the digital parts catalogue program. I don't have an 89 catalogue but JMO has them and get tell which VIN means what.

No. They just help prevent corrosion on the metal mounting brackets. -

Carb? Which engine? 2.5L 4cyl or 4.0L 6cyl? 2.5L has Throttle Body Injection or TBI and the 4.0L has multipoint fuel injection. So what you would have to remove is just throttle bodies.

Rear bumper bracket was replaced on the Sunday. Never got those broken bolts out sadly. But nothing beats spending the last day of the year like hanging out and workin on Jeeps.

Simple cruise control wiring question

I found that a test light works well for the switches rather than using a volt meter. -
Simple cruise control wiring question
eaglescout526 replied to Big Dan's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
See I was genuinely looking for a older GM tester or something like such including the Kent Moore tools but was worried that the tester wouldn’t plug into that AMC control board plug. And I didn’t want to dump money into something that would be used sparingly. -

eaglescout526 replied to Big Dan's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yup. Guy wants that much for a very obsolete and almost non existent cruise set up tester. Supposedly a lot of the other car companies of the 80’s used the DANA cruise control system but all I found was AMC and Ford used them. -
