Yep that's what it is for. I have a non retractable hood lamp for sale with bolts and bulb if you want and the bolts do look much better and hold it in place with peace of mind.

I have a NOS(parts sitting on dealers shelves) sensor/electrical section in the for sale if those Chinese sensors fail.

1). That wire is apart of the factory harness. Check around the relay center and ICM or blower motor areas and see if its there. Should look like a GM single spade plug just like what is on the starter relay or cargo light. Check to see if it has 12V power and if it does, that's the underhoodlight. 2). Yes. They are regular bolts. The clips broke on me and are almost irreplaceable. So I used a couple bolts and 4 nuts, two to hold the bolts in place and two to hold down the cover. It is a much better idea than the clips but to each is his own.

Lol I think its funny but sometimes its the simple things you miss, especially when our trucks are notorious for funky problems. I takes a bit of force to put them in the wrong way but the groves for the points on the bulb itself can help show which way the grooves in the socket go.

Try taking the bulbs out and flip them 180 degrees and put them back in and test. It honestly looks like you have the bulbs in wrong. P.S. wrong section. lol

Refer to this. Weather yours is a tilt or not, most internals of the column are the same aside from the tilt control.

Well the door panels are finally back on and I replaced the rear trans mount. Wow did that mount go through hell and back. Well, I am not at the end of the road as there is always something to do but updates might become sparing this year. We will see what 1920 I mean 2020 has in store.

Don't forget to keep an eye out for the little spring clip for the switch.
