Dash Vinyl Replacement
eaglescout526 replied to Manche757's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I contacted justdashes a while back and I never got back to them but it seems like they ought to be able to do our dashes. -
You’ll need to look at the FSM and dial in the potentiometers as specified. I factory rest all the modules so they operate at the minimum 30mph pulses. This practice just ensures the system works and engages. As far as setting it to lock on at the desired speed will require further dialing in of the pots. It’s one of those things where you can’t bolt in the regulator just yet until cruise has been finely tuned. It’s not the most fun part but it’s satisfying knowing you got your cruise dialed in. And also I send the regulators as factory reset because not all components may play nicely with the settings as I found the box IE ground could have resistance at the harness and can mess with the readings the regulator reads from the pulse generator. Fun stuff it is. Anywho this gets my seal of approval. Looks like my printed instructions were very comprehensive. I just remember. I keep this pic of the section that talks about the regulator in my phone.

Adding Power Locks to 87 MJ
eaglescout526 replied to Anthi4078's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You need the actuator, the rod for the actuator and the wiring. That’s it. Our latches have the tab where the actuator rod sits into to unlock and lock the door. -
I will be getting it together today.

Yes I have the reservoir and I’ve been making custom vac harnesses.

Yeah. Just more trying to get the carb set to where it will at least be a guaranteed fire up. Sounds wonky I know but I don’t think it’s bad at a cylinder to cause a leak and be running weird. But it could have easily gotten worse. I plan to take it all apart soon.

So I got the retainer on the power piston and it’s in place like it should be. I got it to run, now I had to get it to run right and I did this by adjusting the choke. Now I have a new issue where it acts like it’s getting too much gas when it’s being revved which is possibly is and contributes to my poor adjustment of the choke. Sadly the batteries I have died on me so I couldn’t do anymore testing and I think I got the car overheated too since it doesn’t have a working cooling system thanks to the head gasket being bad. But I’ll get this fixed before I tear the engine down for the head gasket repair.

96 Cherokee wheel well liners as an upgrade
eaglescout526 replied to Pete M's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Hoping folks will ask me to order them to keep demand there haha. -
Anyone want to me to document this car? Its my sisters and I told her I could put in on CC to document what we have done but I figured I’d see if there is a general interest in the old “Z”‘s that would be interested in seeing what I’ll be doing to get the little car back on the road. Already put new tires on and it and it doesn’t have spark. Let me know if y’all want to see me document it or not.

96 Cherokee wheel well liners as an upgrade

Fun odd fact, I cannot order the later XJ style fender liners, but the older ones are somewhat available, I think they might get discontinued soon unless the demand picks up. -
1986 MJ “CJ” (Cheap Jeep)
eaglescout526 replied to Dickinson County Comanche's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Interesting…I wonder how well it will do. I know for my 2.5L XJ coupled with the 3.55 A35 out back, it is a dog and sometimes has some trouble revving with the carb but that might be because I have the carb adjusted for AC compensation. -

Ehh. I’ll hang on to it then. Unless someone else at the time needs it. But I’ll have it when you need it. -

Dirt cheap if new ones aren’t under $25. -

I see there’s one starter relay left as NOS for an auto trans. Not sure if it’s the same across the board for a SJ/CJ to an Eagle. -
Dp you have the red "Comanche Outfitters" book from AMC? That shows everything we could get from the factory.

Engine Identification

84-86 saw the Renault 2.1L diesel. Any later year is most likely a swap. -
I’d take a couple! Wish hot wheels or hell even matchbox if they’re still a thing to actually make some of these. I know there’s some XJ ones out there I want to get.
-
Ok that’s pretty cool diecast from hot wheels.
