  1. The Viper looks to be wearing an Illinois Peace plate. Add to it the overhead road signs show US 52 and State 25(looks to be an Illinois State road sign).

    Uh-oh.

depends.... What do you normally wheel?? If its all rock, then go for it. If its ANY other surface, keep the BFG's
  3. Not completly true my friend. I have a copy of the 88 FM from 88. It has the original 86 FSM, but also includes the original 'tech bulletin' book bound in a single manual. The other component manuals cover only rebuilds of the individual components. Plus don't forget the electrical troubleshooting manual which lays out the complete electrical system on the MJ, complete with connector drawings. I got two sets for the components on my MJ from the original owner, and I got the rest of the component manuals and another mech manual off of E-B
  4. Yes, it will lift the front end. How much depends on the donor truck. Ford had regular and HD coils available in most year sets. The downside though is you will get a VERY rough ride. I used a set from a factory 2wd 302 equipped(softest spring rate) 1984, on a XJ. It rode like it was on bricks. I quickly removed those and bought proper coils for it.

    TPS

My TPS problem started as a higher than normal(about 2k or so). But it would last for a few minutes and go away. Slowly it got worse. It had finally degraded to where it either idled completely normally or at about 3250 RPM. Never good on the motor, and it made driving a manual really exiciting. It is TONS better now. I need to remove the IAC valve and clean the throttle body really well.

    TPS

I'll gladly pay $105 for a Borg-Warner sensor rather than $98 for a POS Wells sensor.

    TPS

Finally, the TPS in my MJ found its way to the top of the project list. (It wanted to idle at 3250 rpm the other day) Well, I called around and the only one available in my area was at O'Reilly's. Which was fine, I have been using them almost exclusively since they opened here. I had it held, and ran to get it. It was $105.99    But noone else could get it for a week. and ended up being almost the same price. So if you have a Renix 4.0 with a 5-speed, get ready to be butt hurt... But I think I'm officially on my regular O'Reilly counter jock's Christmas Card list.
  8. Sure, sell it to me..... I've got a dollar, and my wife is already pissed off at me.... :brows:
  9. If I was in FL, I'd buy it. If nothing else to save it from that lift.
  10. Its that a TJ???? The frame end mount for the trac bar certainly isn't XJ/MJ.
  11. I had them on my MJ, and the front skid made its way to my last XJ. I needed a jack to get it into place. It wasn't as well made as it was heavy. One good stump impact at the lower edge, and it was bent up making it nearly impossible to access the steering components.
  12. I was going to mention that. I have been to two runs in the last two years where you were not allowed to have an 'unrestrained' 102" whip. Seems like that rule is more common where there are significant amounts of trees.
  13. I've had the google toolbar for awhile, and it includes a spell checker.
  14. The C stands for Custom, not C-Clip. Dana calls any axle they ship unfinished 'Custom'. So all that means is that Jeep finished the assembly on the axles.
  15. It 'should' be a 231. The 207 was in the YJ that year, but not the MJ. You can crawl under there and look at the tag on it. Its a circular metal tag and its right in the middle of the case.
  16. The closest I could get this winter is Allentown,PA. But hopefully not, I can't stand the Philly area and Allentown is too close for my comfort.
  17. I'm here working and in serious need of something to do. This project is eating me up, and I'm about to wring someones neck. Anyone need their broken junk wrenched on? Got something heavy you need lifted into place several times(on your truck, I'm not moving your new piano)
  18. My 87 wiring book has been the same for my 88 for the things I've had to fix.
  19. that's interesting, gonna have to research that. You cast at home????? I took the design of my Al smelter from a couple of homecasting websites.
  20. No, depending on when you got it he's not a saint. Just a few years ago you could hardly give scrap away. #2 had dipped to below $60 a ton, and white goods(appliances, and car carcasses) were averaging $5 a ton or less. When we took all that crap to the yard the other day, another customer came up to us and took several busted up rims my dad had. He said he was melting them down, because the alloy used in wheels is good for doing some home sand casting.
  21. We dropped a bunch of AL, Dad has been collecting off the other day. He got 90 cents a pound for mixed. That is pretty darn good. I remember 'breakage'(the crap 89Manche is talking about being 5 cents a pound). But if I melt it into ingots, they pay $1.75 a pound. #2 steel was $165 a ton if the yard picks it up, and $210 if they don't.
  22. Picked up a new 'rag' yesterday. Its called JRations. Issue 3 has a big step-by-step article on drums, GoJeep has one on his site also. But drums really aren't that bad to deal with. Auto trannys, now there is bad to deal with.
  23. Check the CPS, many a bizarre ignition problem can be traced to it. Also check the C101 connector. Thats the big plug above the master cylinder.
  24. I've got it. Its not very useful at all for an 87+ MJ. The sections about the 2.8 are completely useless. It has the AMC 20 for the HD axle. I've found tons of other differences in it.
  25. Not to mention Rock Auto is run by MORONS!!!! I ordered a fuel pump for my MJ from them. I paid for 2-day delivery so I could have it to change it over the weekend. Dip-thongs send me a kick down cable for an automatic transmission. When I call, they want me to send back the cable, pay for shipping both ways then they will send out the pump I ordered via ground shipping. Not to mention the phone operator asks 'Are you sure that its not what you ordered'
