Mr. Cappa First, thank you for joining our little bizarre corner of the world. I certainly appreciate the articles on MJ's or any other non-SWB Jeep for that matter. I also appreciate you taking the time to register and post. It certainly takes guts to 'come out' from behind your monitor and mingle with people who are detractors of your work. I let my subscription lapse, because of the overwhelming amount of Wrangler with Chevy parts features and articles, and the Bree nonsense. But seeing that you are starting to recognize that SWB with Chevy Junk, fabbed by Clifton Slay isn't the end all-be all of the Jeep universe, my lovely wife and kids are getting me a subscription for the holidays.

That's what my 86 is right now. :D It's plated, runs fine, but don't tell anyone that I have blocks of wood holding up the rear suspension. :teehee: The village told me, mine have to move to be 'operable', so I waited till night, and moved the victims with a chain and the running one.

I was reading that today. Typical JP article. Kinda close to being right. Should have let Eagle write the article. There is a guy I know in reader's rides this month. The red YJ with Cheby everything. Its a total poser shot of it.

Paging Eagle, Paging Eagle. We have an MJ that is being threatened with the crusher.

Depends I got to deploy to the desert At the begining of the year and then after that i am looking to change bases. So who knows. Cole My BIL took a 3-year posting on Okinawa, because he was promised no more sandbox. Moved his wife and daughters, settled into life there. 6 months to the day he arrived, he gets orders for more sand. He now is in TX, and headed for OK for training to do six more months. -

The Cherokee(the mid-size one, not that oversized pig your used to :brows: ) FSM is the same for everything from the dashboard to the headlights. The main differences right here are the body harnesses.

The grill might be Jeep, but the rest of that Fugly @$$ thing is Toyota..

Its called the maintence timer, and it is mounted to the right of the column if you are sitting in the driver seat. It mounts to the dashboard frame, and the wiring and plug for it are pretty short, they won't go very far past the place its supposed to mount. I believe the orange hose attaches to the top of the round multiple vaccuum line connector. It's been a while since I had to hook one up. If you can find a copy of the factory electrical troubleshooting book, it will have exactly what you are looking for.

Got a boat or a new mailbox? I've got one, that I stole the drums off and I'm taking the shafts out of, but after that it would make a really snazzy flowerbox holder in the front yard. -

Hmmm, Chewy the offical NAXJA MWC 'U-boat' captain. That is an 'earned' snorkel. That is from the Badlands. Pete didn't you guys run the tubes at ComancheFest? GLJT's Summerbash- always a good time. I thought that was where that was, but I suffer from ACRS(Almost Can't Remember Sh*t)

The 999 also made appearances in the XJ/MJ family. But your right, its basically a 904 with a locking converter. Its a AX-4/5, thats what I get for posting that late instead of being asleep. Ummm... a nice DP to start the morning makes all things better. -

The rear is an AMC 20. The tranny looks like a 999(been awhile since I saw one in person). But the "half-Bowling Ball" cover is a dead giveaway for the AMC 20. -
I used a gate latch. Got them from Ace Hardware. They need just a bit of filing, and the latch tightly. Here it is. I only used the latch portion. Sorry, about the image size I 'borrowed' the pic from National Manufacturing's website. BTW, I didn't invent it. It was a creation of Redneck Engineering, and the Barrio Fab Works.

I'm in the process of doing an RE 3.5" full length AAL on my XJ. When they say full length, they mean FULL-LENGTH. The AAL leaves go from spring eye to spring eye. They are only about 1/4" short of reaching to the center point of the the eye. There is no comparision on the quality of the parts from the RE kit I'm using to RC/Rusty's. No burrs, all the powdercoating and paint in excellent condition. What welds there are, are all excellent in apperance.

I ran Rusty's 2" AAL on my last XJ. When I put it on, it was 3" of lift. Once it settled in it yielded about 1 1/2" lift. But it ended up being level which made it look nice. I used Rancho shocks though. I haven't had any major issues with Rusty's CS either. One order, my wife made for me. And Rusty's called to verify it because my wife misread my chicken scratch writing and mis-ordered some stuff. I would NEVER EVER EVER use a Rough Crap lift. I didn't know any better and bought one for my first XJ. The shackle cracked in half the first time I went wheeling. Luckily, I had access to a welder there. The ride was TERRIBLE, it rode like a buckboard wagon. I almost felt bad when I sold the Jeep. The kid who bought it, didn't drive it very long for a test drive. RC's customer service was as bad, if not worse than Rusty's. When I called them about the split shackle, the tool on the phone said,'that can't happen' and hung up on me.

I get mine at Napa. The local one has both pieces with fittings and without. I think the longest they have if 5 or 6 foot though.

Or you could call AEV and get the Gladiator. http://www.aev-conversions.com/Vehicle_Brute.html

Chevy S-10 frame and chassis????

Actually, I use a pic from that trip that Rick sent me.

I had forgotten Rob had a VIN list on his site. But it does match my FSM list for the US stuff. I don't have anything listed for the export stuff.
-
You've got the dead giveaway for a :Canadaflag: . Block heater plug. ;) I've got one on my MJ. Nothing like a nice toasty warm engine on start-up on a 5 degree morning.
-
I don't have a listing of those. I never owned a Jeep that new. What is the VIN on Rob's old one?
-
that seems right for the 1 since his has the driver side only "flag" mirror. what are the rest of the numbers that go in that spot along with what they mean here at the CC, just out of curiosity? Alex depends on year. For 86: 7 - X 8 - XL 9 - XLS F - Custom(Metric Tonne) G - X(MT) H - XL(MT) J - XLS(MT) For 87-90: P - Pioneer S - Chief T - Laredo F - Base(MT) R - Pioneer(MT) U - Laredo(MT) I don't have the Eliminator, or Street Comanche listing though.
