    Some people ...

    ^My thoughts exactly. Buck.
  3. Great info Jeremy! I am so mad at myself for discarding my original stereo. I cannot remember which one it was but I kept it for a long time in a drawer in the garage, it was barely used, #$&*#@!! Ashamed and kicking myself, Buck.
  4. Looking good, like the color! Buck
  5. I will also keep an eye out when I go to the junk yards, maybe there is a damaged topper somewhere and it would be great if someone on CC is able to pull the lid before the whole thing goes to the dump, we can dream! I didn't think I would ever find a used bedslide and one popped up on CL, I would think there is a lid out there with your name on it. Buck
  6. Gogmorgo, I don't think it has a serial number but I will check again. If you want I can measure the lid itself and send you the exact dimensions. Buck.
  7. John, it is a Leer topper. Hope this helps. I have seen several of these on CC so I don't think this style was a custom,
  8. Been wanting to post a pic of my topper but I ended up waiting til right after Sam posts a pic of the Holy Grail of toppers, the Wildernest, thanks a lot Sam. This is the 2nd topper I have had on the truck. I had an aluminum topper that did a great job but just needed to go away. I was lucky to find this one in great shape in North Carolina (I think) for $100 but cost me $300 to ship it.
  9. Wow, awesome!! Buck.
  10. Welcome and good luck with your search! Cool jeep stories from the past never get old! Buck
  11. Wow, that is messed up.
  12. I found the guy to paint my truck at a local auto paint store. They might be willing to give out names of the reputable painters/body shops. I was very happy I asked. Buck.
  13. You have done a lot of stuff to this truck, I had forgotten how much and I just reread a lot of this build again. Great stuff! I said in your mjotm page I will add this to my list of things to look for, I definitely want to find one now...finding one in good shape is going to be tough. Beats me. I can't weld either... :shake: I just got a welder and started to melt stuff together. Hilarious!!!
  14. That is a lot of work, thanks for sharing. Good luck with the progress and keep us posted. Great job and I am sure it will continue. Buck.

    New Phone Scam

Thanks for the post, hadn't heard of that one yet. Scumbag people. Buck.
  16. Nice! Looking forward to the progress! Buck.
  17. My Chiefs lost last week and we lost to the Pats last year in the playoffs, I like the Falcons against the Pats. Buck.
  18. So after many years I have a good functioning stereo and working door speakers. I had to fix the nest in the dash that I let 2 other people do. After looking on here and other sites for help with speaker wire color codes, the one I used that matched my mj was from the '89 xj diagram. The stereo that I had installed 26 years ago (free installation) they trimmed the bezel around the heater controls, which I didn't notice for a long time and then drove me crazy that I hadn't noticed. Then ten years ago I paid one of my former students to install a stereo that I bought from him, he didn't even get the constant hooked up and the cd player wouldn't release the cd all the time. So this time I did it myself and took my time. I pulled a bezel from a xj, it doesn't have the chrome pinstripe and I like it. I didn't replace the bulb for the existing clock in the dash, the stereo has a clock and I didn't like the green anyway, pleasantly surprised with the result. I hadn't posted what I did for a center console. I went into a Jeep dealership at least 10 years ago (it was one of the many dealership closures) to get something for the mj and saw this on the floor near the parts counter marked way down, $20 I think. It was for a cj and was much taller. After looking at it and realizing it was just a plywood box I asked if I could take it out to see if it would fit between my seats, it did and I bought it. I took it home and took the staples out of the bottom, took the bottom off, cut the box down, replaced the bottom and cut the pleather and restapled it and have used it since. I wish I would have cut the box at an angle but I really like it because it gives me some storage, has two cup holders and I can take it out when I need to carry something between the seats. Buck

    Leer cap parts?

Mine are attached with clamps. This is the 2nd cap for the truck. My original aluminum cap was just beat and luckily I found the nice Leer cap in good shape. I bought my aluminum cap from a Leer dealer and if I remember correctly they gave me the option of drilling holes with bolts or using clamps, I went with the clamps. Buck.

    Leer cap parts?

I have the same shell also and don't see any numbers. I had to replace the back glass but I was lucky enough to have the frame intact. There is a topper manufacturer in Daytona that makes aluminum toppers to size, I wonder if there is a similar manufacturer closer to you that could make a door to fit yours? Buck.
  21. Jeremy, it is funny how we fall into doing a project that wasn't toward the top of the list. You always do great work so I am sure you will enjoy having electric locks and windows when you are finished. Buck.
  22. That is exactly what happened, I think. He was behind me at a stop light and I know I hadn't done anything wrong. I think someone had messed up when it was originally recorded and no one noticed. He asked if I had any idea why he pulled me over and then asked if I had ever painted the car and after I said we can look at the door jambs and in the trunk if he wanted, he started to believe me.
  23. Congratulations on mjotm. Great build. Buck.
  24. I would fix it asap. I got pulled over in my wife's Honda civic several years ago because the color of the car did not match the color on the registration, something we had never noticed. It was a grey car but the registration said green. The officer pulled me over and luckily I had our then 2 year old daughter strapped in her car seat in the back, I think that relaxed him some, might have been worried it was a stolen car. He asked many questions and let me go, just was adamant that I get it changed asap. I know the manager at the tag office and she fixed it over the phone.
  25. I watched that whole "monster miata" build. I thought it was great. Hilarious how it went from flower power cruiser to "you may need to check your pants" cruiser.
