Bogging down and picking back up to normal
Dzimm replied to 88whitemanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I would agree with some sort of fueling issue not likely if it has no pattern. Swap the filter and see if it helps. -
https://ames.craigslist.org/cto/d/boone-1989-jeep-comanche/6970093236.html Truck is an hour or so away from me. Kind of wish I had the money for it because it looks like a pretty good deal from the ad.

I'm curious how the ram is mounted to the truck. Pretty sweet setup there. -
If they did it would somehow get turned around and become the government's fault. "Oh the military is trigger happy, let's take their guns!" I can hear it now...

My future brother in law has been joking how he can't go to this because he'll be at our wedding instead. Curious what all is actually going to come out of this. Whether people storm the base or just hang out outside I feel like there are going to be some idiots that show up and end up arrested or shot.

I don't think there are anything under 4.5" that isn't an add a leaf. 4.5" and up will be full pack or spring over. For 1" - 2" you could try the Metric Ton springs, sounds like those give some guys a small increase in height. Otherwise add a leaf is about your only option other than bastard pack from some other vehicle with taller springs. When I called about reaching springs near me they wanted more than a new spring would cost so it's quite cost prohibitive.

Thanks! Yeah I got a good laugh out of it too when it happened. -
Facebook 92 MJ 6.0L 2wd $10k
Dzimm replied to WahooSteeler's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
At least the tank is 7 feet behind the driver instead of 6.. There is a ton of room between there so it fits most tanks and is convenient. Being lifted, the tank should never be squished between the axle and bumper in a wreck, it would get pushed over the axle if the wreck was that bad. It's also less of a concern since it's not under a passenger compartment. If the tank were to send fuel everywhere in a collision, it would be in/under the bed rather than in the cabin like a Cherokee. I still personally wouldn't want a tank there if I could avoid it. -
95 XJ Winter Daily/Beater/Rust Bucket

Cylinder head showed up the other day. Today I got it hauled out to the shop and looked over a little before work. Hopefully I will get time before work tomorrow or Sunday to get it cleaned and installed. Also decided to try something new. Rather than doing a million pictures of everything, I'm going to do shortish videos to kind of track the progress on it. There will still be pictures but probably not as many. This is an overview of the Jeep as well as where I'm at with it. -
I really like the fact it says fix it or part it.. I don't know how much fixing you could do to it and it doesn't appear to have any good parts.
-
That's one way to do it.

NOS gate for only $250?? Not surprised it sold already. -
I especially like the exhaust stack 2" from the driver's head.
-
That's fine with me. I'm just sick of not having an easy way to shut the door.
-
If you could grab one of the rear armrests (the mini kind) I could use it in the red truck.
-
Any crank should work. All manual regulators I've ever seen use just about the same spline style studs.
-
Like stated above, you can get a repro tank a lot of places. If yours is a long bed you can get the larger tank, if it's swb you need to keep the smaller 16 gallon. Strap kits are also available everywhere a tank is and I wouldn't imagine there being a difference is shape/size of those. Just a 2 strap vs 3 strap kit as far as I know.

97+ firewall conversion
Dzimm replied to Car Enthusiast's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Do not cut the entire firewall out. The only thing it needs is one small hole on the passenger side for an hvac box stud, a small filler piece for the hvac passthrough (I used a piece of rubber instead of new steel), and the driver's side just needs the steering column hole moved slightly. Look through some 97+ threads such as Alexia's and you'll see a very small area of the firewall (12" x 6" ish) gets moved over. On my build, I just made the hole slightly larger on the original MJ firewall and filled in with a larger (built my own) rubber grommet, no transfer necessary. Absolute waste of time and energy to move the entire firewall. Could even cause leaks or unnecessary weakness in the truck. Not knocking your idea (all ideas are welcome for anything) I'm just very strongly advising against it. -
T connector wiring harness for trailer
Dzimm replied to Peterjojo's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I find a lot of Jeep parts on Amazon say they don't work but do. Look through the reviews and Q&A to see if anyone mentions what they used it on. Most of the time I'll find someone used it on the year of Jeep I'm looking to use it on. Regardless you can hardwire it if the plug is different. -
I didn't know any of this. I like this kind of trivia.
-
Just realized the H1 ran until 2006 just like the TJ. The last known AMC part on a new vehicle was the TJ door handles to my knowledge, if these armrests were actually shared with the H1, that could mean the armrests lasted just as long, if not potentially a couple months longer.
-
While watching a video on ChrisFix's Hummer I noticed the arm rest looks exactly like the XJ ones. Anyone know for sure they are the same? I looked around online and some forums mentioned they think the same ones were used in XJs but I couldn't find confirmation. Thought it was interesting though.

Got some "new" tools I've been wanting for awhile now.
Dzimm replied to Knucklehead97's topic in The Pub
If the lady knew what it was I'd say $250 - $300. If she didn't know what it was, $100. -
Otherwise try some needle nose vise grips since it's sticking out a bit.
-
Would a socket style Philips bit with a swivel and extension work? May need a third hand to keep pressure where it's needed.
