  1. Grab the window regulators. Not sure what they are worth but I payed $200 for the only manual crank one I could find for a 2dr about 5 years ago.
  2. Dug out the spray foam mess on both corners in prep for replacement. Super annoying, DON'T EVER use spray foam on a vehicle. Corners and rockers are pretty Rusty but I've got replacements ready to go in.
  3. Don't use spray foam to "fix" rust. It makes properly repairing it so much worse! Thankfully whoever did this only used 1 can of foam per corner.
  4. I'm pretty sure they weren't. They came with convenient drain plugs though... You just had to pull the carpet to access them.
  5. Thanks. Yeah me too, not sure if I want to spend the time searching for the leak or not.
  6. Well I know for sure the doors don't seal.. there are layers of weather stripping on both doors and door jambs. I decided to leave the carpet out for now and just paint the floor black. I'll decide later if it goes back in or not. I'm going to let the paint dry overnight and work on the handbrake mount tomorrow.

    rear bumper

https://www.westinautomotive.com/fey-diamond-step-bumpers/1992/jeep/comanche The bumper is universal, it's the brackets that are truck specific, part 97900 is the Comanche brackets (fits all years of the MJ). I have it on my 90 and it fits perfect. I bought mine with brackets from 4WheelParts but can't remember what it cost. JMO413 has the same bumper just went through Advance. The prices there are the cheapest out of everyone I'm seeing right now.
  9. Talk them down on it. I doubt there are many people in the market for an 84' XJ.
  10. May be a good one to grab and hang on to. Keep it stock for what you are doing and keep it in good shape. May become worth a little more than you pay for it after a little while.
  11. I may have to try the park next to the door trick. Didn't really think about that. And I will look for the colonial red.
  12. Thanks! It's actually not a horrible price for a custom spray can but I'd like a little cheaper for temporary repairs. Will probably order a gallon from them when I repaint the entire truck though.
  13. I'm wondering if anyone has come across a paint available in the big box stores that is close to Colorado Red. Preferably in a rattle can for touchups and such. Not looking for a perfect match, just something close enough to cover areas like the interior floor and body work until I get around to repainting the entire truck. I've found Krylon Gloss Burgendy to be close to the faded paint on areas of my truck but not others. Now that I pulled the carpet, I can see it's not even close to the true color and I'm looking for something similar.
  14. Cleaned up and primed. Painted.. and I'm off to work. More to come.
  15. Now I'm torn... Pulled the carpet up on the passenger side and it's drenched so I pulled it completely out of the truck. Floor is bubbling worse on the passenger side. To put the carpet back in or not..
  16. Interesting, your updated map has you coming down I35 instead of HWY65, pushing it to about a 20 minute leg over to me. after looking at it, I'm not sure why it had you coming down 65 in the first place, it's way faster (la Crosse to Colfax) with the new route.

FEY makes a replacement for the MJ. Pretty cheap too.
  18. Honestly it would probably only add a mile or two to the actual driving, you would cut down a county highway to I-80 rather than continue the southwestern path into Des Moines. PM me if you plan on stopping and we can sort details. Edit: JMO413 is about an hour and 45 minutes from me, we've talked about meeting up before, this could be a good excuse to finally Meetup.
  19. Thanks! I'll probably wipe down some of the excess, not sure I want to spend the time required to clean it out entirely if I don't have to. I'm not flexible enough to stay contorted under the dash for very long.
  20. Finally a trip coming through central Iowa! Your route is within 5 or so miles of my house. If you have time to swing by I'd love to have you over, if even for a few minutes.
  21. Get a shirt shadowbox and hang it on the wall. White shirts are like magnets for stains when they are more than 5ft from the closet..
  22. Finally got enough house work done to start on the truck again. I'm working on installing the handbrake and of course had to tear everything apart to do it. Much more involved than I planned but it has to be done, plus I want the trim and carpet loose so when I cut the cab corners out, I have access to put out a fire if the spray foam ignites... Pulled the bench seat by myself, which sucked. Broke the spot welds on the passenger rear mount so I tacked it back straight. I went ahead and cleaned up the seat brackets and painted them with rust reformer and black paint. The PO repaired the brackets but never painted them so they rusted. The PO replaced the floors already so that's nice, the carpet was damp under the floor mat and there are some bubbles under the paint. Most of what's in the picture is dirt and stuff from the carpet pad, not a ton of rust yet but it will get cleaned up and painted before being put back together. As for the parking brake, I didn't expect it to be so much work to remove it. Had to unplug the bulkhead connector for the fusebox (PIA) and move everything out of the way. But it's out and the parking cable looks to be brand new so that's good. I haven't decided yet if I'm going to hack up the MJ pedal mount to make the new bracket or fabricate one. The pedal doesn't hold anymore so its of no use without repair anyway. If work doesn't wear me out entirely, I will hopefully get all the work done throughout this week and put the truck back together by the weekend, or at least driveable again by then.
  23. I want to confirm the bulkhead plug for the underdash fusebox is filled with dielectric grease correct? I don't have any problems with it I just had to remove it to get the parking brake out and wanted to confirm before reassembly.
  24. This is just straight genius. Legal, yeah probably, but how do you mount it securely?
