If I had been in that situation I would have had my trailer up there, got it loaded, down to my yard where I would have removed what ever I wanted, and then to the scrap yard. Good haul '64

Couldn't make up my mind whether to vote twice or not at all. I am currently running a Lincoln Ranger , a Hobart buzz box and a Century wire feed. All great. Really couldn't pick one over the other.

2WD MJ Suspension Questions/Input wanted
jimoshel replied to Trix's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
First off, it's your truck. You can do whatever you want with it.I have seen several pics of slammed MJ's but just the pics. No details. I see no reason why it can't be done and with your back ground you shouldn't have any troubles with it, Do a write up with pics and post them in the DIY section. I'm looking forward to seeing the end result. Good luck, Jim -
Eagle makes a very interesting point and :agree: I think I buy more stuff than the average person and have always had a problem when dealing with people on buying their stuff. If it's good quality or desirable and the price is fair there is no problem. When it's a piece of sh*t and the price is out of sight is something else. Usually I just thank them for their time and walk away. Don't p*ss somebody off. You may want to deal with them later. More than once I have ordered some *sshole off my property when they ticked me off. I offer something for a fair price and they insult me with a counter offer. One thing I have found that works pretty good for me is to keep the conversation friendly, Don;t get aggressive or show annoyance. Don't tell them it's not worth what they're asking. Just say it's a little more than you can afford. If it's something I want but think the price is to high I tell them to go ahead and try and sell it for what they're asking. However if they haven't sold it within a week- 10 days, I tell them to call me and I will give them $XX for it. I find this works for me over half the time. Every body likes to dicker. It's part of the game. Just be reasonable about it. Happy shopping. Jim :smart:

Pull up the bed liner and see whats under it. If lt looks good, leave it. Moisture, debris etc collects under liners and can cause serious damage.

Alternate method. Fill up at station. Drive in a straight line until you run out and stop. Place pedometer on shoe top. Walk back to station carrying gas can. Divide number of gallons into figure shown on pedometer. That's your MPG. :huh???:

Don't mean to offend any of the nae sayers but,,, 1988 MJ 2.5, 4 speed, 3;55 gears, It got the job done. And didn't complain. And I paid $400 for it.

Different prices in different parts of the country. I wouldn't go over $1500 unless it's factory new condition. Short box is 6ft. Long box is 7ft.

Don sent me this. Jim Just did a quick p/n search and this showed up: http://autopartmaster.com/en/?action=ca ... _pic=26394 _________________ -Don

The tank you received is either a 16 ,originally from a LB, or a 18, originally from a SB. Either one will fit in a LB without any problem. You will only need 2 mounting straps. This covers the physical aspects of the tank. The fuel pump, sending unit will depend on engine size, year.

If every body in Comanche Club doesn't send me the title and keys to all their MJ'S God is going to rust all your exhaust systems. :huh???:

Take a Bungee cord and hook one end to the cross member, go over the tail shaft and hook the other end back to the cross member. Vibration is the biggest reason not to weld the mount the way you suggested. If you were to weld the front mounts in an identical manner it would work. But would be a B*tch to drive.

There is straight torch tips, However the way I got mine out was to heat the bolt from the twisted off side and burn them out. With a small tip and steady hand you can burn the bolt out and not hurt the nut. After burning the bolt out wait for it to cool. See what kind off a mess is left. If it's bad run a drill bit thru it. if not then use a tap and clean the threads up. Go easy, don't rush it. Slag is harder than regular steel and you can break the tap off. I salvaged 4 nuts this way. The fifth was shot so I just burned it off and used a fender washer and nut to replace it.

can anyone help me out?
jimoshel replied to STERLING STINGER's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I had a '62 Austin Healy 3000 was like that. I figured a British car, What the heck. that's the way they are. Would go out in the morning after a heavy dew and it wouldn't start. At first I would just spray the coil and distributer with ether, wait a couple minutes and it started. Got tired of that. Cleaned everything up real good, all the dirt and grease off the ignition system, then sprayed everything real good with krylon clear plastic. Especially dist an coil. Never had a problem with it after that. -
Classic Wheels on 2WD Comanche
jimoshel replied to iamdace's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I tried putting a set of wheels from a 2001 XJ 4wd on to a 1987 MJ 2wd. Didn't fit. Hub was to big for the wheel. The nut went thru the center of the rim B4 I noticed and quit. -
Any auto supply or industrial supply should have grommets in stock. I have used RTV, The Red, in emergencies , and non emergencies with good results. I prefer it over regular sealant in some cases because it's easier to remove.

Noticed coolant dripping from under front end. Popped hood to see what was leaking. Came in house to get another cup of coffee. Sat down at puter. I'll get to it later. Jim :D

You may have bumped or moved the switch. I'd check it first.

I have all ways had trouble with photo Bucket. However in all fairness to PB, I'm not sure if it's PB, or my own ineptitude. Must agree 100% with Eagle. Why do they take a site that is functioning 5X and "improve" it?

On 9 out of every ten Jeeps I get the radio's gone. Seems like the first thing they do when selling is to pull the radio- stereo out as far as they can and then cut the wiring. My question is, of what years 80's-90's MJ-XJ is the plug the same? Gonna hit the JY and get a handfull.

Yeah? Well if I,,, ah,,,, er,,,,,uh,,,,,, I forgot.
