  1. Most JY that I'm familiar with sells the trans separate from the bell housing, which is what the inspection cover is fastened to. It's just a piece of tin. If necessary make one. Just keep the crap out of the bell housing. If you really can't find one, I may have one.
  2. Do you know the AX15 was good B4 installing it? With the engine off and the clutch depressed you should be able to shift into all gears. Shifting into the lower gears with the motor running is almost if not impossible.

    Why Live East

In case your wondering, I believe the bridge is still there on what is now the frontage road. Next time I go by I'm gonna stop and look for paint.
  4. Clutch isn't disengaging. First thing I would suspect is you may have not put it back together correctly. Second thing i would suspect is a bad part. Since it was working B4 I feel that eliminates the master cyl, but leaves the slave cyl, throwout bearing and pressure plate. You just about have to disassemble it again to find out. Unfortunately just because somethings new doesn't mean it's good.

Will take John Denver to rust any day. You can turn the radio off, or change the tape. You can't rust.
  6. Will-is. as in Will is gonna kick the crap outta U if U pronounce it Willees.
  7. I have seen people call anything thats 4wd or even looks like it could go cross country a Jeep. Irregardless of make. And it's a waste of time to try and correct them,
  8. I need a title for my willy now?
  9. I don't think so. The heat shields DO come off.
  10. If it was me, I'd just put a dab of white paint on the tip of each fan blade, Check the crank and fan pulley, make sure they're the same size, cut a hole in the hood and then count the white dabs for one minute and divide by 4. For a 4 blade fan, :rotf: Or go to Auto Zone and buy a after market.
  11. Two old friends meet on the street. Hey Joe, Hows it goin? Doin good . How you been? Been OK. Went fishin yesterday. Yeah? Where at? Took yer sister with me. Went up where the ol bridge crosses the creek. Yeah? Catch anything? Don't know yet. It's only been one day now. :rotf:
  12. Insufficient data. Perform the usual is it getting fuel, fire routine. Report back.
  13. OOOPS. Missed the 'Column shifter' part. Mea Culpa.
  14. There should be. You screw the knob on first, all the way. Then you back it off so the logo is level. Then tighten the nut. Reverse the procedure to remove.
  15. Back the nut off first. Then unscrew the knob.
  16. No, that would not be nice. That truck is rough but it appears to be complete. It should be restored, not butchered. :agree:
  17. Picked up another XJ. Was gonna part it for it's 4.0 motor and 5sp, BA10, 4wd. Use it for a donor for a MJ. Can't do it. Body and interior to darn nice. Amybody want a 88 XJ? runs good. Gonna stick to wrecked ones. I don't have any problem parting them. :clapping: :rotf:
  18. Kelly, Found it. Thank you.
  19. I don't receive Top Gear but I would love to see that episode. Any one willing to burn and send me a copy for reasonable compensation?
  20. To the best of my knowledge the only markings on the hood were the inventory accounting number. These were on the side of the hood immediately above and parallel to the fenders. Sometimes, depending on units, there would be a star on top of the hood. All the unit markings were on the bumpers. Consisting of the unit no for the vehicle, Company, regiment and division. For example HQ 1 511AIR 11ABN.= Headquarters Company unit 1, 511th Airborne Infantry Regiment, 11th Airborne division.l
  21. Tell her you need $3500 to put a 383 Chevy in it. Then when she convinces you to stay with the 3.4 you both will have won. What do divorce lawyers get now?
  22. That is a '47 or '48 Willys. 4 cyl flathead. Never in or had anything to do with the military. The OHV didn't come out until 1952. The Hurricane 6 until '54. The OHC until '62. I*n 1974 I put a OHC engine (after a few mods) into a homebuilt airplane I built. When the 4cyl F head first came out it was the most powerful 4 cyl engine in mass production at the time. When the L 161 came out it was a Continental engine. 2 firsrts for Jeep.
  23. Has anybody used or have any experience with any of the Miracle Head Gasket repair, sealer on the market? I have a 99 Blazer with leaking head gasket and altho I know modern technology is accomplishing wonders I have a problem with believing I can pour something in the radiator and fix a gasket. Any comments? especially from a user.
  24. X4
  25. Yep. I.m still working on my turbo adaption to a 2.5. Got together and made a test run the other day. Worked great when first fired up but as the motor warmed up it began leaking around the intake adapter and head. I think it's a stress weld, good when cold but warps when hot. I'm still working on it.
