  1. It's a moot point now. Fella just left with his new motor. Called his mechanic in KC and they compared notes for ten minutes. He hung up and said "I'll take it"
  2. It was 95f here and I was out unloading 6 ton, 200bales, of hay. Thank the powers that be for cold beer.
  3. :agree: I love animals. As of now I have 2 cats, 4 dogs, 1 a rescue, 1 Jackass, 4 horses, 2 wild mustang adoption, and 2 rabbits. Unfortunately some people just don't have better things to do with their time than stick their nose in other peoples business and try to enforce their beliefs on others. Unfortunately, most of the time they just don't know what they're talking about. Just emotion.
  4. Can't be. To good to be true. However considering the intelligence level of these people it just might work. :USAflag:
  5. If you would please. We can both use all the info on this we can get.
  6. Boy, what a story. What a difference in shelters.A couple years ago I went to a local non profit shelter. No application forms, no waiting, no inspection. I walked in, told them what i wanted, picked one out, gave her my $40 and left with one of the best dogs I've ever owned. I've had 2 Huskys. They were the friendliest, to people they knew, most loving, loyal, courageous, etc, etc. Can't say enough good things about them. Keep looking. There's one out there just waiting for ya. Good luck. Jim
  7. I have a 2001 Cherokee limited with a 4.0 engine and auto trans, A fellow in Kansas has a 2001 Grand Cherokee with a blown 4.0 and auto. He read someplace they will not swap. I believe they will. Any comments? I could use the money but I don't want him driving 500 miles for nothing. Jim
  8. I have '84 to '89. No '90's. Then jump to 2001, Cherokee Limited, 4dr.
  9. Mostly just tryin to keep them from the crusher, and possibly satisfy my ego. I got more MJ'S than you do, NYAH NYYAH NYAHH. A couple years ago scrap was bringing $15-$20 a ton. Now it's up to $185-$190. There's people driving up and down streets and alleys picking up every piece of metal they find. They see a MJ , or any vehicle,in the yard and go to the door and offer $25-30 dollars. If the seller is stubborn they go as high as $100. Then it goes straight to the crusher. Many people don't know the value of their old cars, as compared to some who so over rate them it's outta sight. And as for the XJ'S, That's how I'm paying for the MJ'S. Buy XJ junkers, scrap 'em out or fix 'em up and sell 'em. Plus parts to keep my own running. Jim
  10. In the last 3 months I have had 3, maybe 4, MJ'S bought out from under me. I would see the ad or hear about them and before I could get there, They were sold. The very first thing I do of a morning, er, the second thing I do is check Craigs List and the local paper for MJ and XJ for sale. I don't know if the 4th one was sold or just moved. Just wondering if there's another collector around or what. Jim :dunno:
  11. That was my mother. She can pitch an empty beer bottle over 100 yards :huh???:
  12. Save yourself the misery of worrying about it. Give me the truck and I'll pay for the bus ticket to Sacramento. If you feel comfortable enough to be driving it as a DD then Follow the advice given above. Check everything and don't push it. It's a Jeep. It'll make it.
  13. It was a great place to store a sheepherder (Hi Lift) jack.
  14. In the 50's JC Whitney sold square bumpers with storage compartments. Haven't seen any since.
  15. Following a tip from a previous poster, I loosened all bolts, used a long punch pushed thru the holes and pushed, hard. They all lined up. Retighened everything, including the two now going thru the bumper.
  16. The Drawtite looks identical to the UHual with two exceptions. The DrawTite has only one hole in the receiver. The UHual has two. The front being 1/2in and the back being 9/16in. Also the UHual back cover plate on the receiver has 4 holes. The Drawtite doesn't. Very minor differences.
  17. I think when they went from rubber gasket to adhesive it removed some of the cushioning the rubber provided against shock and flexing of the body. Out of 11 M and XJ'S I have 2 good windshields.
  18. Saw a '89 Jeep pick up advertised on Craigs List for $250. Figured it was a MJ because the J's had been discontinued by then. Called the number and he just sold it.
  19. :agree: :wavey:
  20.
  21. Your going to have to mike your crank and the bearings. One of them is off. I have received cranks from the machine shop that were not ground properly. I have also purchased bearings in boxes that were mis labeled. The label on the box was correct but the contents were wrong.
  22. About 3 months ago I needed a new pocket knife. Was at Ace hardware looking for something else and saw there knife display. Finally settled on a Buck because of the name and having had a couple before. I thought I was buying American made. Got home and looked at it closer and guess what? Made In China. Can't put a edge on the blade. Can't even cut black electrical tape with it without sawing. I do not recommend Buck.
  23. When your the third or fourth owner of a 20 year old vehicle, just how do you know, or can tell what is and isn't original?
