  1. Anybody ever made a set of spring perches using JBWeld? WELL? It works for everything else. :D
  2. I don't think so. Turbos need to be wound up to work and the engine needs to be up to speed for that to happen. When a motor bogs on acceleration it is because of a sudden influx of air and a lack of fuel. Just clean the TBI and check the sensors and TPS.
  3. Looks good.
  4. I have 3 MJ's and 2 XJ'S I drive often. All have the 2.5 engines. I also have 8-10 (not sure how many ) 4.0 motors. I am very satisfied with the performance of the 2.5 or I would be swapping a 4.0 into them. None of them bogs on acceleration. They're not killer power houses but they are reliable and will get the job done. I did have a '88 MJ with 3.53 axles that was a little limpid but after swapping to 4.11 it perked right up. 5. OOOPS.
  6. Your welcome. I had the S10 and the MB so it was no biggy. Jim
  7. I had a '72 Cherokee, 2dr, 6cyl, 4spd, 4wd. There was absolutely nothing outstanding or particularly great about it. But it was reliable, durable, dependable, had a 'go anywhere get outta my way" attitude and I absolutely loved it.

    Guts or Balls

Guts or balls.?There is a medical distinction. We've all heard about people having guts or balls, but do you really know the difference between them? In an effort to keep you informed, the definitions are listed below: GUTS - Is arriving home late after a night out with the guys, being met by your wife with a broom, and having the guts to ask: 'Are you still cleaning or are you flying somewhere?' BALLS - Is coming home late after a night out with the guys, smelling of perfume and beer, lipstick on your collar, slapping your wife on the @$$ and having the balls to say: You're next, Chubby...' I hope this clears up any confusion on the definitions. Medically speaking there is no difference in the outcome. Both result in death. I really think the word 'stupidity' could also fit in there someplace. :smart:
  9. I'll drink to that. Actually I'll drink to any thing. I have replaced my own WS, but considering the hassle, drop an break, leaks, etc. It isn't worth it. Hire the pro. Let him worry about cracking it.
  10. When you jumped the ballast did you hear the pump? If not then it's probably bad. If you did hear it then the fuel strainer is bad. There are 2 of them. One in the the fuel line and the other in the bottom of the tank. Just off hand I would suspect the strainer in the tank. Just sitting all the crud gathers there. Also if the pump doesn't work quite often it's full of crud. I've flushed them out and cleaned them and they worked. Your probably going to have to remove the Fuel pump assy. Dropping the driveshaft will make it easier. Good luck, Jim And welcome to the madness.
  11.
  12. Reading all of the answers I also believe the resistor to be dead. I would still check it tho just for the heck of it. If in fact the resistor is to control the brightness of the LED then the higher the resistance the dimmer the LED. The lower the resistance the brighter the LED and the less difference in illumination between stop and tail. In that case you could probably use any value between 250 to 400 ohms. If you can't find anything check the auto supply. Some of the old style ignition dropping resistors and alternator field coil resistors might work. A walk thru the JY should furnish a bunch of them. If you still can't find one let me know. I only got a couple hundred of them. Jim
  13. A larger tank will not fit. They are to long.
  14. Uh,,er,, sorry. I was distracted by a couple of things. :brows:
  15. Just looking, it looks like it would. Use the XJ face plate and the MB mounts.
  16. Leds' are very voltage sensitive. Exceed their voltage rating by even the smallest percentage and their current draw goes out of sight, wiping them out instantly. Most Leds for auto use are rated at 16V well within the automotive max of 15V max, 14.2 ave. I believe the resistor is to supply a load for the flasher altho you said the flasher worked ok B4. Would really need a schematic of the circuit to fully understand it. Also suggest you check the resistor to insure it is in fact bad. Set the ohmeter scale to 1K, common on most meters. The meter should read between 336 to 394ohms, for a .5 precision res. And for the purists B4 U jump on my figures, I'm doing this in my head. No calculator.
  17. That is a 360 ohm 5 Watt wire wound ceramic covered resistor. Can be picked up at any Radio Shack, Electronic supply or your local ham operator or TV repairman.
  18. The S10 frame and bumper is narrower than the MB. It can be made to fit. Depending on your fabrication skills or $$ situation. In my opinion take the S10 bumper, Cut the old mounts off. Get a set of mounts from ebay, or make a set. MB Upper, S10 Lower
  19. I'm parting a S10 out now. Wait an hour and I'll have a answer for ya.
  20. $100? (Comment censored) I have gotten blanks and made my own. Sometimes when I was lucky it took less than 10 minutes. Other times a couple hours. What's your time worth? 1.Disassemble the cylinder. Insert a blank. see where the sliders line up. Grind, or file notches in another blank to match. 2. Take Prussion Blue. I have used magic marker but its harder to see. Make a real light coat on the edge of the blank, insert in cyl, twist, remove. Look for the rub marks and file notches there. This will take several tries. Don't remove to much at a time. 3. Pull the cyl, toss it. use a screwdriver. 4. Go to the JY and get what U need.
  21. Depends upon whats in the pit. Don't make me spell it out. Use your imagination. :D
  22. No. Depends on the car. Most of the time everything will go straight down. Sometimes it will be necessary to play with it, that is move the motor back or the truck forward to clear.
  23. Owners manuals in a used car is as rare as a virgin in a cat house. Whenever i go to the JY I go thru all the cars and get every manual I find. Probably got several hundred of them now. Someday I'm going to catalog them, run a ad on ebay and retire. :D
  24. I got two that works OK, '87 &'88. On the '89 I got tired fooling with it and jammed a piece of cardboard between the glass and the frame. It works.
