  1. Something about this Jeep, that I somehow completely missed when I was test driving it, was the steering column job. I don't know why it was swapped, but it is obviously not the original. Aaand something was broken...so the PO decided the best fix was to wrap the column in a coke bottle, zip tie it, and paint it to "match" (see picture of interior on first page...you can just see the bottom of the column). I'm all for home brew fixes, but come on :shake: Besides cosmetics, nothing is wrong with the steering so I didn't want to pull it all out. So, I found a piece of tin, cut it to size, and.... ....its already 10x better, as far as I'm concerned. I plan on painting the rest of the column black or gray, and then replacing the steering wheel. Oh yeah, I also swapped out my grill for a 10 slot grill
  2. Got some "new" BFG Mud Terrains today. They should hold me over for now :D
  3. I guess its about time for some kind of update...the Jeep has been through a few small mechanical fixes, 4x4 not working (fixed now), sold the black steels with Goodyear MTRs, got the stock turbines back on (for now). Looking to upgrade the lift. I want to go to a 4.5" lift with some new wheels and 31x10.50 Mickey Thompson MTZs. No major changes, just driving it all I can.
  4. Still got my first Comanche too!! Got it early 2010, so just about two years. 1988 Pioneer, 4x4, swb, with the always awesome 4.0 and a 5 speed. It was stock besides some sketchy exhaust work (first thing to go). As of now it has a 3" lift, stock turbines with 30x9.50s. Soon to be some new wheels with 31x10.50 Mickey Thompson MTZs. Been working out some mechanical kinks as I go. Just recently had some "mini tuneup" work done, including getting the four wheel drive back online. Lovin' it! If money and parking weren't an issue I would have a few more I'm sure. Comanches are like an illness that's fun to have.
  5. Its like you read my mind! - medium regular t shirt, royal, tan logo - large heavy hoodie, ash, forest green logo
  6. I've been wanting to replace my whole exhaust system...header/manifold to tip. Anything good out there for us? Thanks for any pointers.
  7. Man I wish the prices were like that around me. I bought mine for $2,200 :???: ...an 88 Pioneer, 4x4 swb, 5 speed with the 4.0. No upgrades besides an ugly dual exhaust which came off immediately. I paid $200 for a gutted MJ...just the frame and body, and partial interior. It did have a title though  I still look on CL in the surrounding area and the cheapest I've found is $1000, and as high as $7k +.
  8. Alright, I feel like a rookie now. It was just low on fluid. New question though...First, what are my possible reasons for it being low? And, when I opened the little reservoir, it was kinda gunked up...is that a clue for something? Thanks for any tips.
  9. Thanks for the responses and suggestions.
  10. Asking $240 and that's without the axle shafts...apparently they were removed for spares.
  11. Soooo, if I find a CL ad titled "Jeep Cherokee Dana 44!!! With Trac-Lock", I should probably go ahead and snag that huh? And what is necessary to do a swap, besides matching gear ratios, and spring perches? Thanks.
  12. Is this a more or less bolt-on job, or is there some kind of fabricating or "customizing" that needs to be done?
  13. Thanks...hopefully I can get it all
  14. I found a complete 94 XJ, 4x4, 4.0 5 speed that is being parted out. I would at least like the transmission for my 88 MJ. What all do I need to take from the Cherokee to make that work? And, is there anything else I should grab while I'm there? Is the rear end worth taking (assuming its the 8.25)? Thanks for all help/suggestions
  15. My Comanche has been sitting about 2 weeks now. I've started it a few times, but not actually drove it. I parked it working just fine...I thought. Got in it the other day to take it for a drive, pushed the clutch, and it sank to the floor with almost no resistance. Needless to say, couldn't get it in gear. All thoughts and comments appreciated. :help: Thanks.
