  1. You just confirmed what I was afraid of.
  2. In the good ole days, pre-computer, you could have a engine sitting on the ground and could start it by hooking up a battery and getting gas in the carb. I see no way to do that with a fuel injected, computer controlled engine. Other than just run a compression check I'm looking for away to tell if an engines any good or not without it being installed.
  3. If your route goes thru Colorado, Drop in.
  4. :agree: Check for curb rash, nicks along the edge. mounting holes distorted or worn.
  5. Drop the drive shaft.
  6. Price? Location? Do you have one for sale, or are you looking for one?
  7. Got a pic ? I think they're all the same but not sure.

Asked the GF if she wanted to join me in welcoming the New Year. When I explained to her that it involved removing ALL clothing, then running barefoot thru the 1 foot snow drifts to the horse trough, breaking the ice and then jumping in, she declined. Some peeps just has no sense of adventure or daring. HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY! !
  9. If you still need them, let me know.
  10. Just leans out the window holding a flashlight.
  11. I always admire neat workmanship. Thanks for the tips.
  12. That hole is for a crank. It was stashed behind the seat, If we needed a crank we would walk 2 miles to find a deuce and half to come give us a tow before trying to use it. Dec-Jan 1953-54 we, King Co. 511th Abn, 11th Abn Div was at Ft Carson and Camp Hale for winter maneuvers. We had a drop for the locals and the 3/4 ton from King Co was selected as one of the equipment drops. It streamered. Watched it on channel 5 news that evening. Klcked up a dust cloud you wouldn't believe. Got a new M37 out of it. The winch, when so equipted, was driven from a PTO attached to the transfer case.
  13. Go for it. I'm running AutoCad 13 for Win 95 on mine.
  14. I've always heard that the mind was the second thing to go. I forget what was first.
  15. OK. I'm not getting desperate yet but am considering another angle. The 2.2 Diesel off a semi refrigeration unit. Fella wants $800 for it and it runs good. Any thoughts? Desperate.
  16. I sure wouldn't let the mileage stop me. I look for rust free bods. The mechanics can be rebuilt, replaced
  17. If you mount a short bed bar in a long bed and place the front mounts where they should be, there will be a 8 inch gap between the rear legs and fender well. A spacer block would work but better to just get the right bar to start with. Or you could bolt the rear legs to the fender well and have the whole bar moved back 8 inches.
  18. So who needs brakes? Just drop the plow.
  19. Was in town this AM and saw another MJ. Guy was just pulling into a yard so I pulled in beside him. We talked. I gave him a CC card and told him about the club. Don't think he'll' be on tho. He's a contractor and to him the MJ was just a reliable handy piece of equipment. We'll see. Said he would be out and see about some Jeep parts. Told me about a neighbor of his, has several MJ'S in his back yard. Hasn't been moved or run in several years. Gonna check 'em out.
  20. Christmas past For 44 years I was married to the most wonderful woman . She would do anything for me and always took care of me. I was always spilling my coffee and getting my pants wet as well as messinig up the truck seat and floor. For Christmas 1976 she got me one of them plastic things that fit over the transmission hump of the truck. Had places for 2 coffee cups, tape holder and several other spaces. I unwrapped it and looked. Conversation went something like this. "Gee Hon. That's nice. What's it for?" "You put it on the floor of your truck and it holds your coffee cup" "I put it on the trans hump?" "Yes. Isn't it neat" "Um,,yes dear it is. Ah hon. What am I driving?" "A Chevy, truck." "Uh huh. And what kind of a transmission does it have?" "A truck transmission. 4 speed." "Uh huh. And what is that long metal rod sticking up out of the middle of the floor?" A long silent pause. I no longer have the truck, or the wife but I still got that tray holder.
  21. Just got it. A bill for $269 where she bought herself a dishwasher.
