They build their engines loose, that is with 1/4 inch clearances between piston and cylinder walls. That way the sand flows right on thru without wearing anything. No need for filters.
By larger I am assuming, and we all know what that means, the bearing with the flange. That is the bearing that sets the crank end play.It also requires the block to be machined to accept it. Unless there are marks indicating the bearing was installed with the aide of a BFH then position 5 is where it goes. Look at all the bearing positions on the block. 6 will show the rough casting. One will be shiny and smooth where it was machined.
Almost did the same thing with a '34 chevy I had. Me and my buddy and lil bro had been out chasing and shooting coyotes The Chevy quit. Quick inspection showed no gas to carb. No tools. Over 5 miles back to house. Filled a Pepsi bottle with gas and buddy sat on right hand fender dribbling gas into the carb . Just got to the edge of town when the cops stopped us. After explaining to him what was going on and pointing out only had 2 blocks to get home he said OK. As he was walking back to his car he was chuckling and muttering something ' about dern kids.'
Don't know about the rest of the country but should be pretty close to the same. Here a complete vehicle across the scales will bring $280. Regardleess of weight. Scrap gets $200 a ton. P&P pays $400 for complete vehicles. Must have title.

Thought...If the engines the same, AMC/Jeep and the trans the same,,,AX15, then why would there be different bell housings? Different clutch release methods?
Thanks Eagle. I've got several trannys and I want to help the lady out but I just don't need another truck if it's going to take big bucks to get it running.
