  1. :agree: But at least have one where it can be reached by the driver while he is in his seat. I have one mounted on the driver side pillar even with the seat. I had one mounted on the pillar above the seat back but the first time I banged my head against it, it got moved.
  2. Pete, What would it take to have club members names and PN added to the cards when you have them printed? Save us having to hand write them on. Would seem like have the member prepay and do it batches of a hundred would be practical. Jim Curious minds want to noe. :dunno:
  3. Sorry. From your question I mistook you for a novice. For a straight bolt in any 4.0 from '87 thru '90 will work.
  4. Just sent in the reg renewal for the '87MJ, 4cyl. $79. Just wondering what they are in other parts of the country. NY and CA especially.Ten years ago it would have been $20.
  5. You won't know what you will need until you tear the engine down. Inspect the cylinder walls for scoring. Mike them for out of round and taper. Remove all valves. Inspect the valve face for pits, uneven seating. Chuck them up in a drill press and eyeball for warpage. Valve seats for pits and burning. Mike the crank journals for wear and out of round. I have gotten by on some engines just with a valve job and rings and rod bearings. I've also had some that required total rebuild, Bore cylinders, new pistons, new cam. Crank turned or replaced. You just won't know until you inspect it. If your not planning on doing a lot of engine work then farm it out. Otherwise do like I did. Get every thing you need and do it yourself. I have the equipment to do everything except turn a crank. I think it all paid for itself with maybe the fifth engine I did. When buying parts, get quality, not cheapos. There should be a mechanic or knowledgeable person near you with whom you can discuss the various aspects of things like 3 angle valve job. chrome vs cast rings, etc. Although they're not as good as FSM the Chilton, Haynes manuals do give you some guidance and the specs for the various measurements.Good luck.
  6. Got change for a $1,000 T note?
  7. Yeah. that. Some states allow 3 unit tow. Some don't. I would hook up a tow dolly behind the camper.
  8. Probably to far North to do you any good but if I can let me know. Relay a couple hundred miles or a place to store it.
  9. Can't think of a thing to add.
  10. I probably am but just don't have the patience to deal with people to try and do anything with it. Been a pack rat all my life and still got stuff I picked up back in the '50's. Biggest contribution was when grandad passed and I inheireted his old shop and yard. Goes back to the 1890's sometime. He was a well driller as was his dad. I learned the trade and put in my own well at the place I'm at now. Was a Pierce Briggs cable rig from the '20's mounted on a 1934 Ford 1 ton. Took me 10 days to go down 332 feet. Got the best water around. The state inspector had to change his drawers when he came out. First he didn't believe I used that old rig and then he was going to write me up for drilling until I showed my State of Colorado Drillers license. Issued June, 1952. Aw well. That was then and this is now. And I still got a yard full of junk,,er,,antiques.
  11. Posted Today, 03:38 PM Here it is says in the description that the grove held a sash cord??? that holds the saw tighter. Does have some value. http://www.ebay.com/...=p2047675.l2557 Yep! That's it alright. Reckon it's time for me to get a EBay account and start cleaning out.
  12. I knew I had seen that somewhere but when I searched no find. Tnx Ben
  13. I just Googled "plastic model cars, Jeep Comanche" and came up with a dozen listings.
  14. I've done a couple cars but my interest is more toward airplanes and railroad stuff. Has any body ever found or seen a kit for a Comanche? Think it may be necessary to get a XJ and modify it.
  15. That was the first thing I thought of, reinforced by the fact there was a dozen or so of them (saws) on the bench with it. However if you will look at pic 2 and notice the groove, as if for for to bend something in.
  16. I'm sure there are many peeps here in the same boat I'm in. Got a piece of junk,,,er,,ah,, got a tool or item and they don't know what it is or is for. Might even make it a sticky and every body browse through their tool box for that unusual and different but unknown item, post a pic and see if anybody can identify it. For example this. What is it and what is it used for. I'm thinking it was a metal brake for light tin, maybe to put the crimp in for a stove pipe. Stamping on it says "Wentworth Manufacture, Pat'd Mar 3 1873. Any ideas? It's useless for anything I need but I just hate to scrap it.
  17. Has anybody thought about using tractor adjustable long arms? As ComancheCounty suggested Modify them and make your own. They're strong, and readily available at any farm, industrial outlet.
  18. I've purchased a lot of stuff from Eastwood. Good stuff and good service.
  19. I grew up making needed gaskets out of card board. Now that I'm older and got more sense I use the knot hole in the fence,,,ah,,I mean i use RTV. Make sure both surfaces are clean. Apply a very narrow bead around the the outer edge.
  20. Let's see. First part of February, Middle of winter. It snows. And? :dunno:
  21. That's nice. Welcome . :MJ 1: .
  22. Got 2 of them. Unless you're coming out this way soon or got a good buddy truck driver friend to pick one up think the freight would be a killer. OOPS! My mistake. Only got one. However it wouldn't take much to modify this one. I thought it was the same.
  23. Alexia,,,You deliver and I'll buy ya a hamburger.
