  1. My goof. The Pinto was a '74. It crapped out in '92 or '93. I think '93 but memory is a little hazy. I just know it was a dependable little car, right up to the end.
  2. LOL. Wife had a ;92 or '93 Pinto. Nice dependable economical car, Probably had around 290k when the valve train went all to Hell.Somehow the rear ex lifter got stuck in the bore, cracking the bock, making a 3 piece cam and busting a valve head, stem and piston top. I scrapped it. Only paid $400 for it and drove it for 3 years so I ain't complaining.
  3. Pinto? Buy yourself a boat and use it for the anchor.
  4. I see know reason why not. In fact with welded gears it might just help it track. But I'm sure there will be experts pipe in with their oplnlons.
  5. With a class 1 hitch they are rated for a GTW of 2,000 lbs. This is the bumper hitch. With a class lll hitch they are rated for a GTW of 5,000 lbs. This is the receiver type hitch. There are other factors to be taken into consideration but those are the factory max recommendations.
  6. Milky oil means coolant is leaking into it. Might have a leaking head gasket around no 6.
  7. Never towed anything but I once pushed a Boeing 747 with dead batteries and needed a push to start.
  8. Back in the old days, Did I really just say that?, We used '55-57 Chevy motor mounts when doing engine swaps. They were plentiful, cheap, could be made to work in many different types of applications and they worked. I've been looking at doing a engine swap in a '86 XJ and I see no reason they couldn't be used there. For what it's worth.
  9. Get drunk and go to bed. er,, wait a minute. Take two aspirin and go to bed. I keep getting it mixed up so I do both.
  10. Friends don't let friends drive their MJ'S. Take the speedo end of the cable. Make sure it's seated in the tranny, or TC. Try turning it with your fingers. It shouldn't turn more than a quarter turn. I made up a adapter to check speedos with. Take an old speedo cable and cut about 2 inches of the end. The end that goes into the speedo head. Chuck it up into a drill. see if the needle moves.
  11. I'll take two. Need something for the hired help to ride in.
  12. I think just the challenge, fun, of building an engine like that would be enough. Every time a discussion on 4 cylinder racing engines comes up I remember the old Indy Offenhausers'. Just hearing one of them scream past and I would have to go change my drawers. A man takes a 500CI engine, gets 500HP at the rear wheels. Big deal. A man takes 150ci engine and gets 500hp at the rear wheels, BIG DEAL!
  13. A grizzled ol' Marine Corps Gunny and a fresh young Air Force basic got of the buss and headed straight for the latrine, rest room for the civies, and to the urinals. Finishing first the young airman zipped up his fly and headed for the door. The gunny hollered after him, "Hey Fly Boy. In the Corps they teach us to wash our hands after using the John." The Airman replied, " Well sarge, in the Air Force they teach us not to pee on our fingers."
  14. My idea. Take a Mack 3500. Remove the cab. Install a MJ cab. Don't have to mess with swapping axles, transmission, etc, etc.
  15. 200lbs overweight...Why didn't they just rev the engines for a minute, would of burnt it off.
  16. shizzle?
  17. It's Red. That'll do it every time.
  18. I have half a dozen 2.5 in my yard with over 250K on them. Pull maintenance and don't abuse them, they'll last as long as anything on the road.
  19. I always just mark the rotor and pull. I think the main reason for finding TDC is in case the engine gets moved before installing the Dizzy.
  20. Fluid?? You're supposed to put fluid in them?
  21. You really can't fault Obozo. At a very early age he was smart enough to realize that with a smooth tongue and line of bull$#!& and 51% of the American voters with IQ under 50 he could do it. He sized up the situation and seized it.
  22. Pete got it. One free valve stem cap on it's way.
  23. Don't need no furnace. Just get a big fat mama and hit the sack.
  24. Nothing wrong with the lower hose. It just didn't have a clamp on it. Put a clamp on it, it quit leaking. Get my new headliner from Steve and wash it. Have me a new DD. Anybody else catch the '@$$' next to the price in the last pic? Just noticed it.
  25. Beat me to it.
