  1. How about crank sensor guys? You need to use a '91 up YJ/TJ flexplate (if you have HO EFI) and machine a hole in the bell for it to work. (or go with a harmonic balancer CPS kit) I already posted pics of my NP208J with an AW4 in front (spacer is available from http://partsmike.com for @$200) and I had it bolted to my AX-15 (decided to sell that trans and clocking ring for an auto swap instead)
  2. I was going to put a NP208J in mine with a thick clocking ring (it's already fixed yoke and much stronger than a 231)
  3. I ran Splitfire regular plugs (need to run Splitfire wires for them to work right) in my '86 4 banger and I run NGK Bk6eb (or similar number. Double grounds) in my almost 300,000 mile 4.0L
  4. You can possibly use a 200R4 (if 2wd) or 700R4 from an S10 with 2.8V6 (don't know about the flexplate matchup tho)
  5. I tracked down the pilot for my '87 MJ and about a year ago the old one seized up (while sitting at a light) and it took a while for it to disintegrate, but I've been driving it like that ever since. I have an auto trans and tcase to put in one of these days.
  6. The rear axle valve catches air or the line rots through and no brakes happen in the back after that (drove mine almost 2 years before I found out!)
  7. Did you swap the dist?
  8. I used some short wood dowels to force the box back into shape (put screws into the dowels with large washers on the outside)
  9. I found a '79 Lincoln Towncar with 31 spline 9 3/8" (9 inches big brother) and someone claims they have nicer gears for it, so we'll see.
  10. The tax is Canadian, but the brokerage fees are not tax.
  11. leaves twist and snap in mud. Longarm is the way to go.
  12. The brokerage fees aren't set by anybody in Canada except the brokerage companies who are usually US owned. :Canadaflag: Redtape = made in :USAflag:
  13. You pretty much have it. The guy at the shop doesn't want to install them, because that implies warranty. Most ring manufacturers give a little booklet with their stuff explaining how to put the rings. I put mine on with the top ring towards the back (furthest from the forward notch), second ring about an inch or so from the notch, and the oil scraper rings on the opposite side, with the joint in the middle and the ends 1 inch either way so it would look like the ends were all set out into a pie cut into thirds. :wrench: Just a side note, but the pistons are the same as 4.0L ones, except they are slightly thicker. They are what I am using for my stroker.
  14. I put an XJ axle in mine and didn't cut off the extraneous brackets. I drilled a hole in the side of the one on the driver's side and stuck the bolt in there. Ran that way for quite awhile, then I got a weld on mount for the passenger's side. Still stock mounted on top. I have a pair of shock mounts (actually swaybar plates) that bolt between the axle and springs on the SOA that will allow stock shock mounting too. A smidge more lift as a bonus too!
  15. I don't know who sells the longer slip yoke, but the bushing in the trans tailstock is getting worn, which is allowing the driveshaft to play crack the whip, or the leaf springs have twisted a bit, throwing off the Ujoint angles (I'm at this point right now. I blew the doors off some turd who was trying to pass me on the right. I side stepped the clutch and got @ 5 feet of third gear chirp out of my 33" tires. The slave and master started leaking soon after that. :driving:
  16. I bought my Renix one from the Jeep dealer for @$40 in '99. I meant the CPS (I should never post before putting my glasses on!)
  17. If you can find a Dakota with the rare-ish 2.5L Jeep motor, they ran AX15 with external slave (The TJ guys are always trying to find them)
  18. It will depend on whether or not it's a longbox and which tcase. MJ and XJ are different.
  19. the bushings are in the linkage. The whole assembly comes out from under the panel in front of the windshield with some screws and bolts.
  20. So you're saying full size Broncos and Jimmies are :rainbow: ?
  21. worn out bushings can do that or someone put a different year motor in with the longer arm (happened on my '87)
  22. In the side of the throttlebody in 6 cyls. On the linkage of the 4 cyls.
  23. A few of us on http://nw-wheelers.com (I'm just moving from Kirkland to Lynnwood and have a cabin 7 miles from Reiter Trails in Index)
  24. I didn't scoop any pics of me doing it, but I tow-barred my '82 Spirit and some Grand Wagoneers with my MJ. I used a full size Cherokee to tow my '83 J10 home (which will be taking over the towing/hauling duties that my '73 J4000 used to have once I finish)
