  1. 86 = 26 87 = 25 94 = 18 02 = 10 /4 _____________ 19.75 year average. My co-worker has: 1995 Sebring 2001 QX4 Her average age is 12 years But the advantage to all these older rigs is.... no car payments! :D
  2. When you finally get to view the finished product, I trust you will post pics?
  3. Clutch/pressure plate/slave cylinder all in one box ran me $135 a year ago at O'reillys. Seems to work just fine.
  4. What color is your tranny fluid?
  5. Unless you really have your heart set on Sacramento [i stayed there years ago and well, it sucks], a more interesting place to stay would be San Francisco, and is about the same distance and driving time from Yuma. More to see in the area, too: GG Bridge, Alcatraz, trolleys, and Lombard St [fun but congested] just to name a few of the countless points of interest in the area. Should you go the SF route, swing through Napa and Sonoma for the vineyards, and Infineon raceway [sears Point] is at the north end of the bay, too. Remember the old startup screen for Windows with the green hills and blue sky? That pic was taken in Sonoma County... all the hills look green and fuzzy like that.
  6. That's 12 hours straight driving time from Kfalls [if thats where you are at, more for Roseburg] to LV. Not counting stopping for breaks. That makes for a helluva long day driving. So does Phx to SF. If you're hitting Hoover Dam and then to Phx, you'll be backtracking to visit the Grand Canyon. I suggest hitting the GC after Hoover Dam, and then staying in Flagstaff [unless you want to make the extra drive to Phx]. By staying in Flagstaff it will give you the chance to visit Meteor Crater outside of town... they close early [6pm] so its something to hit on your way out that morning on the way to Phx. Route I would take with the information you provided: Way to Phx: Oregon to LV. LV to HD and GC to Flagstaff. Flagstaff to Meteor Crater to Phx. Remember, there's only so much to see at HD and GC... but you're in for some long days travelling. My CSB: We picked up our LeSabre in April 2008 from McKinney TX and drove it to Bend OR. Day 1: Dallas to Amarillo [smells like cows] Day 2: Amarillo to Flagstaff via Albuquerque [neat city], Gallup [a dump but has classic Rt 66 stuff], and Petrified Forest [just missed Meteor Crater- 1 hour after gates closed] Day 3: Flagstaff to Grand Canyon [avoid Flintstones tourist trap] to Kingman [a dump] to Hoover Dam to Las Vegas [very long day] Day 4: LV to LA [easy drive, got pic of Zzyzx Rd exit sign... woo] Day 5: LA [sightseeing] to to Hollywood to Malibu to Buttonwillow [a dump] Day 6: Buttonwillow to Bend [long day]
  7. Of some related note, my MJ does not have cruise control. If you found the part on napaonline.com, please post up the link so I may look deeper into replacing mine.
  8. He posts in my neck of the woods too. I've reached out to him to update his website of old AMC Jeep dealers in Oregon, but as state above he doesn't have much interest in that aspect of AMC.
  9. Ok, I went out to get a pic of it... used a LED flashlight and cell phone camera so sorry if its not the best pic in the world. I hope this is the same part that is what is making noise on your rig once you check it out at your end. Image Not Found
  10. Not sure what it's called, or if they're available. I'm sure a salvage yard will produce several, but they may be in similar condition. I'm sure one of the veterans around here will come up with the correct name for it. I considered greasing/lubing/somethinging mine to lessen the noise since the plunger that moves appears 'dry'... it may be a friction situation but am hesitant to put anything flammable on it due to the proximity of the engine to it [inches]... so I just live with it and consider it just another 'quirk' of the truck. I'll see if I can get a pic of the little beastie.
  11. There is a little motor that sets the throttle under the hood at shutoff [on drivers side, top of engine]. It moves the throttle cable about a quarter of an inch so you should feel the gas pedal move. Mine has 'buzzed' since day one, and only buzzes [for lack of better description] about a half-second after shutoff, for about a second. If you have a helper, have them shut off the engine while you are looking under the hood. It'll be easy to spot.
  12. about a half second after shutoff? can you feel the gas pedal move when it makes the noise? try it out; see if it moves.
  13. Showoff. :fs1:
  14. Close- late 30s and my fiancee is early 40s. Same taste in music.
  15. I don't feel tardy.
  16. :fool: thanks ;)
  17. Now, don't get me wrong- I enjoy Van Halen; both the DLR and Van Hagar versions of it. I have listened to them for a long time, and still have Diver Down on vinyl and 1984 on cassette... somewhere... but I digress. Having heard a half-dozen times now on the radio the new single off their album [record? cd? release?] due to be released in February, 'Tattoo', I must say the DLR-esque Van Halen I love are definitely past their prime. The music is repetitive and sounds tired; lyrics are uninspiring. The vim and vigor of 30 years ago seems to have petered out. EVH may be competent but he just doesn't stand out like in decades past. With that said, I am still waiting for more music from the new album to be released and receive airplay to either give them a green check-mark of approval or the buzzing red Family Feud 'X'. I really hope the next single is better. Anyone else disappointed and long for the days of I'm the One, Unchained, and Hot for Teacher?
  18. Indeed. I have recently started using Fuelly and I like it as well. Results so far: Its too bad there is no way to incorporate this into board signatures here...
  19. She's totally going to put that on a t-shirt.
  20. Bought a tank of gas and calculated that on my last tank I achieved 18.5 mpg.
  21. I don't think I've written a physical check since before WaMu became Chase. 2009?
  22. Took this one a few years ago of our Escape at Smith Rock [filmed parts of Rooster Cogburn there] during sunset with forest fire smoke diluting the light:
  23. :agree: I love the bench seat, but just wish mine had headrests.
  24. Shouldn't be so bad of fixer-upper. Looks like it fared far better in its fender bender than the Cayenne: http://mountainwest.traauctions.com/kws/napplications/display_pics.aspx?Exit=Close&Stockid=1005562
  25. So apart from the banged up front and the missing stereo [and the rash of stickers], what's wrong with it?
