pics and info on fabbed front bumper
mnkyboy replied to STERLING STINGER's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
here's the one i made for mine. -
depends how you use the truck and what you do to it. My plan is to go to an AX15 because i doubt the AX4 is gonna live long once i get the turbo on my 2.5L
-
you can use the AX15 with the correct bell housing or the adapter kit.
-
how much travel should the shocks have to get the full amount? yes you need new perches,i suggest longer ones to help with spring wrap. you will also need to come up with new shock mounts. or you can go the lazy route and just buy a bolt on SOA they are like $110 and come with everything you need besides shocks, just bolt it in and go.
-
I installed some on mine from an XJ,direct swap
-
should be the same as your XJ
-
I have D35,4X4 springs, and RRO perches and I'm 6.5"-7" in the rear. I'm now in the process of swapping my 5" front springs for some 6.5" to get the truck to level out
-
will the stock springs give enough flex? i think that would probably work good and my leafs look to be in surprisingly good shape the rear seems to ride higher than the front already. what does eveyone think about the tera flex revolver shackles? here's mine SOA with stock 4X4 rear springs yours should flex about the same,i run out of shock before the springs finish flexing.
-
why not just put the yj gear set in your MJ axle?

-
why not use your existing springs in the rear? with a SOA using 2wd leaves and an XJ 4.5" lift in the front the truck would probably sit pretty level
-
It won't hurt anything, actually all 242 equipped XJs and 1991 and up XJs came without the CAD. IIRC CAD on Jeeps went away completely when the YJ went away in 95.
-
I bought a 94 ABS Dana 30 with no cad and the larger u-joints. problem solved plus strength upgrade and it only cost me $150

here is a good write up on changing a headliner viewtopic.php?f=9&t=15146 The lettering is made from a foam craft board from the dollar tree,i found a jeep logo online and blew it up,printed it,and traced it onto the foam. then i cut the letters out and glued them in place on the backer board. you can use other stuff for this just make sure what ever you use isnt effected by the glue. after that its like changing any headliner accept you have to carfefully work the headliner material around the letters. you can buy real headliner material at most fabric stores and sometimes they have the glue too,if not the parts store usually carries it. theres a few brands but i like 3M #8090. the biggest thing is DO NOT USE CRAFT GLUE like super 77 or other craft adhesives. hope this helps - 798 replies

That was the only job i ever had done at a shop. i had a PST poly graphite suspension kit put in my 72 mustang,i was 16 and had no idea what i was doing so i had a shop do it. never had a car in the shop since
-
I put in 2" spacers on top of 3" lift coils without a spring compressor,i had to drop the front axle almost all the way out to get them in then fight everything back in. I have since bought a compressor as i will never do it like that again. you can get a spring compressor from harbor frieght for under $20, i bought a real nice MAC and it was only $65
-
its pretty straight forward, pull the spring put them in and put the spring back. the tapered part goes down to hold the spring. pretty much goes in exactly like the OEM one thats in there does,i would recomend using a spring compressor. you could do it without but it will be easier with one.
