  1. That makes sense!!! Which will be the correct fluid? I put synthetic with the new cylinders
  2. HI, in December, suddenly and overnight the clutch started to have 2 problems: one will not disengage, second it started to slip, in 3rd and 4th gear when slamming the gas pedal. Last month it started to give me random problems, would not disengage, it felled like out of fluid, but not an ounce was missing, same shop recommended to replace the master clutch cylinder first, no change, then changed the slave cylinder, again it will not disengage properly. I can feel when the trow bearing touches the pressure plate, it happens in the first inch of travel of the pedal, but when it gets to the bottom can't shift in gear unless I pump it. The pictures are to show: I don't have a console, so it would be not an issue, and the 2 only screws I can see , don't seem to have been removed, the other 2 I would need to cut the carpet to see them
  3. Had an issue last december, with the clutch ( 1986 comanche 4wd 2.5, 4 speed external slave cylinder) and a shop "replaced" disc, pressure plate etc) now I am having issues again and I discovered that the shift boot inside the cabin was never removed, is it posible to remove the transmission w/o remove the boot/shifter level? going to post pictures later
  4. HI, I want to aply a bedliner to the bed of my comanche, Any sugestions? my local Napa store has a roll on type, is it any good?
  5. Hello all, just here with an update of everything done, Engine: oil and air filter, oil and thermostat change new exhaust and battery new master and slave clutch cylinders The truck has 110 k miles and drives like that, with the engine on the only noise is the clicking of the fuel injector no noises from tranny, transfer case or axles , shifts like new, clutch perfect , no chatter. Took it to the highway up to 65 mph,and it drives straight, Now the bad news: The axles are 3.54 Years ago I had a cherokee 86 with the 2.6 v6 engine, and I remember it had 4.11 axles, so now my best option is to find a parts cherokee white and with 4.11 axles., unless I find a pair of comanche 4.56 or 4.11 axles and hope more for a d44 rear axle.
  6. I once installed a 350 chevy in a toyota landcrusier, with the original radiator. Had all kind of temp problems. The final solution was when I got the pulleys from a car with factory AC, the engine pulley was bigger and the pump one was smaller, then I installed a tstat, climbing mountains in low gear for half hour would not move the needle up or down when I was downhill
  7. I tried, the local junkyard in town does not have any header/grill Anyone here located in ND? I live in Dickinson ND
  8. No it is an external slave , I can see it, I have the replacement, I tried to purge it to test the rest of clutch, I can't even loose the purge fitting at the cylinder. I see brake fluid dripping from the inside of the bellhousing. I was thinking it is a AX4 because the shift knob shows only 4 front speeds, when I was trying to purge it I saw that black "spacer" in the middle so it seems to be a 5 speed (Score) What does the book say about the steps to replace it?
  9. I am the new owner of a 1986 MJ and I need a few things, better If I buy it from a fellow member instead ebay. Console and shift boots (red or black) it is for a 4 speed manual tranny The vacuum bottle that is inside the bumper hood cable release Bumpers ends, brackets that is for things missing or broken now for upgrades I wanted to lift it a little bit so tell me what you have, something simple, springs or spacers in the front SOA in the back may be the MT AAL Shocks matching I live in ND 58601
  10. I was thinking in buying one of those front kits, from ebay, everything less the headlights, and replace the fenders also, I have 2 options buy them original for the year or for the 2000, then add a used driver side door, a few rust spots fixed including floor, paint and it should be as good as new. Now my biggest inconvenience is to replace the slave clutch cylinder. What a pain! do I have to cut a hole in the floor?
  11. Hi, everyone, I just got me a 1986 mJ, 4 Banger, Manual 4 speed Tranny, Long Box, 110k miles , It has a little hail damage and the grill is in bad shape, a reason to change the front grill, only if I could put my hands on a jeep 2500 grill... but it seems I will have to settle for a 2000 grill. I feel like a painter in front of white canvas .... Pictures will be uploaded in any moment I am doing a lot of maintenance before anything else: Battery and clutch cylinders replaced, new exhaust and change all oils and filters. Then it will be change the grill and fenders, check the floor inside ( the car was parked years ago with problems with the slave clutch cylinder) Will contine the post in a moment
